Couple Pleads Not Guilty To Over RM3.6 Mln In False Claims Under SME Aid Programme
KOTA KINABALU, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- A married couple pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to multiple charges of submitting false claims exceeding RM3.6 million under Sabah's Small and Medium Industry Assistance Programme (BAIKS). Anita Mohamed, 54, and Ang Ka Fat @ Kenny, 57, were charged with submitting falsified documents to the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR) between 2022 and 2023. Among others, the claims were related to machine supply, food certification services, renovation work and premise registration, none of which were allegedly delivered. For the first charge, both accused were alleged to have abetted a company manager in submitting a set of documents along with 12 supporting documents for a Delivery Order (DO) containing false information involving RM500,000 under the 2022 BAIKS programme.

Anita Mohamed and Ang Ka Fat @ Kenny were slapped with multiple charges in the Kota Kinabalu sessions court. PETALING JAYA : A couple was charged in Kota Kinabalu today with submitting false claims amounting to over RM3.6 million for machinery supply and certification. The alleged false claims were submitted to the Sabah industrial development and research department in 2022 and 2023, reported Berita Harian. Anita Mohamed, 54, and her husband, Ang Ka Fat @ Kenny, 57, pleaded not guilty to multiple charges before sessions court judge Jason Juga. The couple allegedly conspired with a company manager to submit documents containing false details for RM500,000 worth of services that were never provided. The services were related to MeSTI and halal certification for food entrepreneurs under a state assistance programme for small and medium industries, as well as renovation works. Both were accused of submitting another set of false documents in 2023 for MeSTI, My Food Tag and halal certifications, again including renovation works, valued at RM2.7 million, which were also not carried out. The couple was also accused of submitting a false invoice along with 13 supporting delivery orders. The claim involved the supply of retort machines – which are industrial equipment used for sterilising food products – hydrostatic tests and other items worth RM414,400, none of which were ever supplied. Case management was set for Sept 23. Bail for each of the accused was set at RM20,000, with a RM3,000 deposit and one local surety per charge. They also have to report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's office every two months, surrender their passports to the court and not contact prosecution witnesses until the case concludes.
