UP to become a model state for carbon credit business: CM Yogi
Ayodhya, July 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to begin implementing a comprehensive plan aimed at promoting carbon absorption and institutionalising the carbon credit trade in the state. Marking the occasion of Van Mahotsav here yesterday , the Chief Minister has emphasized the importance of integrating Uttar Pradesh's green initiatives with the global carbon market. This, he said, would directly benefit gram panchayats, the forest department, and farmers. He said the state will now gain both global recognition and economic returns for its environmental efforts and UP is poised to become a model in the carbon credit trade. The CM highlighted that Amrit Sarovars, rejuvenated rivers, reservoirs, and forests across the state have the potential to absorb millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide. A scientifically structured approach will be adopted to quantify and certify these efforts, paving the way for generating revenue through carbon credits. He said, "Every panchayat will be registered for carbon credits based on activities such as tree plantation, water conservation, and organic farming. The government, in collaboration with expert institutions, will ensure a simplified and transparent certification process. A significant portion of the revenue from carbon credit trading will go directly to local communities." By linking carbon absorption and credit trading to grassroots efforts, a new model of environmental prosperity is being introduced in the state, he said while distributing award certificates to Anita Yadav and Sheela Devi for their contributions to the development of the Vedic Van, and to Shailaja Pandey, Shanti Devi, and Rakesh Kumar for their efforts in reviving the Tilodki Ganga River, in Ayodhya. Dummy cheques under the Carbon Credit Financing Scheme were presented to Mamta Pal, Shivkumar, and Ratan Singh. Additionally, fruit-bearing saplings were distributed to Aradhya Verma, Paranika, and Tejasvi Verma, promoting sustainable plantation practices. UNI MBD PRS

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) T Sarvanan said that investigation of the case led them to Munfed. On Wednesday morning, his location was traced to Cantt railway station. Police arrested him and recovered from him some fake appointment letters, jewellery and a police sub-inspector's uniform and nameplate of Deepak Kumar Ranawat. On being questioned, Munfed confessed that besides Anita Yadav of Mainpuri, he had duped Poonam Arela of Agra, Kavita Jaiswal of Palwal, Haryana, Udita Sharma of Mathura, Priti Jatav of Ballia, Rinki Yadav of Tundla and several other women of huge amounts of money. About his modus operandi, Munfed said he used to collect photographs and other personal details of police officials from their social media accounts. Apart from Ranawat's, he had collected personal details of a sub-inspector posted in Gorakhpur to dupe women, especially those seeking govt job for themselves or any member of their family. Anita Yadav filed complaint with the police commissioner Mohit Agrawal on May 27, alleging Munfed promised to secure govt job for her son. She claimed she paid him Rs 16 lakh through his agent. Neither did her son get the job, nor was her money returned. Taking serious note of her complaint, Agrawal assigned the DCP (crime) to investigate the matter. Meanwhile, Ranawat was removed from public relations office and attached to police lines.
