WFISD students wins scholarships
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Many Wichita Falls Independent School District students celebrated after the WFISD Foundation handed out scholarships.
On Tuesday evening, May 13, students and teachers gathered at the Region 9 Education Center, where 68 scholarships were awarded to students.
Forty-one students went home with some extra money towards their college funds.
A total of $78,450 was awarded in scholarship funds.
WFISD Foundation officials said it's great to have this kind of support for the students.
'We're grateful to have organizations and families supporting our students and investing in their future,' Nikki Davis, Executive Director of WFISD Foundation said.
Among those students was Aniyah Bascombe from Memorial High School, who received the Shatanya Clark 'Larger Than Life' scholarship.
That scholarship was started after Shatanya Clarke passed away during her battle in 2022.
