The fund aims to invest in India's listed and unlisted small and microcap businesses. You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. Steptrade Capital has announced the first close of its third Alternative Investment Fund (AIF), Steptrade Revolution Fund-II (SRF-II), with a total deployment target of INR 1,000 crore. The fund aims to invest in India's listed and unlisted small and microcap enterprises, continuing Steptrade's sharp focus on underserved yet high-potential businesses. SRF-II builds on the legacy of Steptrade's earlier funds—the Chanakya Opportunities Fund and Steptrade Revolution Fund-I—which also targeted India's small business landscape. The new fund will focus on critical sectors such as renewables, defence, waste management, and infrastructure. "This early close is a strong vote of confidence from our investors," said CA Kresha Gupta, Director and Fund Manager at Steptrade Capital. "It reflects the strength of our investment philosophy—rooted in bottom-up research, market depth, and a clear focus on value creation in sectors that matter." Operating across all SEBI-regulated investment formats—AIF Categories I, II, and III, Portfolio Management Services (PMS), and Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI)—Steptrade now offers one of India's most comprehensive platforms for SME investing. "In microcap investing, timing and structure matter as much as the idea itself," added Ankush Jain, CFA, Director and Fund Manager. "SRF-II reflects a disciplined approach where every allocation is backed by deep research, clear valuation logic, and a focus on protecting downside while capturing structural upside." Steptrade continues to position itself as a thought leader in SME investments, with sustainability and innovation at the core of its strategies. With SRF-II, the firm deepens its commitment to backing India's next generation of high-growth enterprises.

Akto Launches Industry's First MCP Security Platform

Akto Launches Industry's First Security Platform for Model Context Protocol (MCP) Servers SAN FRANCISCO, June 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Akto, a leader in API security, today announced the launch of Akto MCP Security, the world's first purpose-built solution designed to secure Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. As AI agents like ChatGPT, Claude, and GitHub Copilot rapidly become part of core enterprise workflows, developers are adopting MCP to enable these agents to safely and dynamically invoke APIs. But with this shift comes a new attack surface - MCP Servers. "MCP is the protocol powering the next generation of AI-native software," said Ankita Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of Akto. In May 2025, a critical vulnerability in GitHub's MCP server allowed attackers to embed malicious instructions in public issues. When processed by AI agents, those instructions led to unauthorized access and data leakage highlighting the urgent need for MCP-specific security controls. Akto MCP Security is designed from the ground up to protect MCPs. It detects shadow MCP servers, tests for prompt injection and tool poisoning vulnerabilities, and monitors AI-to-API traffic in real time to flag suspicious behavior. The platform helps security teams stay ahead of threats in a world where APIs aren't just passive endpoints, they're actively invoked by autonomous agents that can introduce new risks with every interaction. Built in collaboration with Akto's enterprise customers, the Akto MCP Security platform includes three core modules at launch: MCP Server Discovery – Automatically detects all MCP-compatible servers and related API calls across environments using Akto's 50+ traffic and code connectors, eliminating shadow MCPs. MCP Security Testing – Continuously tests MCP endpoints and tools for vulnerabilities like unauthorized access, prompt injection, insecure auth, and data exposure. MCP Monitoring & Threat Detection – Real-time behavioral analysis of MCP traffic to detect threats such as tool misuse, permission escalation, and malicious agent behavior. "MCP opens powerful new possibilities, but also dangerous new paths for abuse," said Ankush Jain, CTO at Akto. "We've built dedicated logic for how MCP works, so security teams can monitor, test, and protect these systems with context." Akto's early access program is already onboarding enterprise customers who are actively building with MCP, including teams at leading banking, fintech, and healthcare companies. The company plans to expand its API Security capabilities to cover modern, new threats. Akto Disrupts Modern Appsec with Industry-First Agentic AI Suite for API Security

SAN FRANCISCO, March 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Akto today announced the launch of Agentic API Security Experts, a first-of-its-kind solution that delivers around-the-clock, adaptive API security using autonomous AI agents. Built for modern appsec teams struggling to keep pace with a growing number of APIs and ever-evolving threats, Agentic API Security Experts function as a dedicated team of expert application security engineers who discover hidden APIs, detect vulnerabilities, test critical endpoints, and proactively fix issues before they escalate. Modern software relies heavily on APIs, which often go undocumented or overlooked, creating a broad and vulnerable attack surface. Appsec teams are stretched thin trying to keep up with continuous code changes, low-hanging scans, and threat alerts that may or may not indicate real risks. Traditional tools frequently miss 'shadow' APIs and sophisticated auth-related flaws, business logic flaws. Agentic API Security Experts address these challenges by assembling a workforce of AI-driven, specialized agents that work autonomously in unison: some focus on inventorying APIs, others test for vulnerabilities, and others monitor runtime traffic for misconfigurations and anomalies. Each agent integrates seamlessly with the team's workflow, learns from the environment, and dynamically adapts to changes in code, configuration, and user behavior. At launch, Agentic API Security Experts includes a core set of AI agents for tasks like maintaining a live inventory of API endpoints, reviewing code commits for security issues, scanning APIs for misconfigurations, and blocking malicious traffic in real-timed. 'Agentic API Security Experts is a massive leap forward in how we protect APIs. What was not solvable in 2024 is now solvable with the workforce of AI agents,' said Ankita Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO at Akto. 'We built this technology to help security teams match the pace of modern development. Imagine, as an appsec leader you can now effectively hire an expert application security workforce for your appsec programs in the form of 'AI Agents'. It's like having an extension of your team living in Slack or Teams, ready to find vulnerabilities and implement fixes in real-time.' Over the coming months, Akto plans to expand these agents, refine the capabilities based on real-world input, and integrate them more deeply with existing development workflows. The ultimate vision is to transform how organizations approach AppSec by making it significantly more agile, automated, and continuous through the power of agentic AI. 'Based on our trials, we believe AI Agent's autonomy and contextual intelligence is at least a hundred times more effective than periodic manual scanning,' added CTO, Ankush Jain. 'We're seeing teams close major security gaps in days rather than months. Today, if a team is not using AI in their workflows, they are missing out.' Akto AI Agents are now available to Akto customers and organizations on Akto's website. About Akto: Akto is the API Security platform for Modern Appsec teams to build an enterprise-grade API security program throughout their DevSecOps pipeline. Akto's industry-leading suite of — API discovery, API security posture management, sensitive data exposure, and API security testing solutions enables organizations to gain visibility in their API security posture. 1,000+ appsec teams globally trust Akto for their API security needs.
