'One of a kind' Northamptonshire unitary council boss to leave

The leader of the council, Mark Arnull, said: "Anna really is one of a kind in local government and an excellent, dedicated public servant."The leader of the Conservative opposition, Dan Lister, said: "She has been a hardworking and highly capable chief executive, respected by members and officers alike." Sally Keeble, the leader of the Labour group, said Ms Earnshaw had seen the authority "through from its earliest, shadow days, and through unprecedented financial and political upheavals, with great skill. "For the Liberal Democrat group, Jonathan Harris said Ms Earnshaw's departure was the second senior-level resignation by a women since May's election, coming after the departure of assistant chief executive Rebecca Purnell in added: "Now, the council faces a period of uncertainty along with an inexperienced administration."Anna has played a pivotal role in supporting the council through its transition to a unitary authority." Voters encouraged to prepare for May local elections
A council is encouraging residents to prepare for the upcoming local elections in May, by making sure they are registered to vote. Voters will elect councillors to West Northamptonshire Council and North Northamptonshire Council, with changes to voter requirements in place. Those voting in person must bring photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence. Without valid ID, voters will not be able to cast their ballot at polling stations. To take part, residents must register to vote by 11 April. Those preferring to vote by post must apply by 17:00 GMT on 14 April, while proxy vote applications - where someone votes on your behalf - close at 17:00 on 23 April. Anna Earnshaw, returning officer for West Northamptonshire Council, said: "Every single vote helps shape the place we call home.
