CM lays foundation for ‘master plan' at Vayalur temple

richy: Chief minister M K Stalin on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a major renovation project at the historic Vayalur Subramaniam Swamy Temple via video conferencing.
The 30.35 crore development initiative, undertaken by the Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR&CE) department, is part of a broader 217 crore effort to enhance 49 ancient temples across the state.
Located in Trichy, the Vayalur temple is revered as the 7th abode of Lord Muruga and attracts thousands of devotees daily. The master plan includes constructing a Valli Thirumana Mandapam (wedding hall), two community halls, an Annadhana Koodam (almshouse), a shopping complex, and residential quarters for temple staff. Additionally, the temple tank (Thirukkulam) will be renovated, and modern sanitation facilities and a one lakh-litre overhead water tank will be installed for devotees' convenience.
The ceremony was attended locally by officials including Trichy district revenue officer Rajalakshmi and Temple EO Arun Pandian.
