Crimped hair, surreal lashes, lined lips and more beauty trends spotted at Fashion Week Fall 2025

Let's face it, glowing skin, red lips and sleek, glossy locks will never really go out of style at fashion week or elsewhere. But it's always exciting to see the boundary-pushing ideas, which often inspire real-life trends, make their catwalk debut. This season's highlights include the dramatic feather lashes at Thom Browne; the colourful threads makeup artist Lynsey Alexander used in lieu of eyeliner at Ganni; and the romantic flushed cheeks and wispy locks at Bora Aksu. On the Fall 2025 runways, we saw echoes of select hair and makeup looks from last season, including bright monochrome eyeshadow, retro updos and deliberately messy tresses. But there were also plenty of fresh ideas — both highly editorial and more "everyday" — to serve as inspiration for next season. Surreal lashes At Vaquera, Harris Reed, Thom Browne and Courrèges, the makeup was focused on the eyes. The extra-long lashes from a few seasons back are trending again, but they're even bigger and bolder than before. Who needs mascara when you can have feathers, black cellophane and brow-grazing falsies? Embellished puckers We've seen facial embellishments in recent seasons, and for Fall 2025, they drew attention to the lips. There were lip stickers at Marc Jacobs and Thom Browne (similar to what we saw at the Setchu Fall 2025 men's show in January). And at the Antonio Marras show during Milan Fashion Week, makeup artist Ricky Morandin applied what looked like pieces of red foil in place of lipstick. Bold braids Several designers opted for statement braids this season. There were sleek, elaborate updos by Sam McKnight at Annie's Ibiza, and at Antonio Marras, hairstylist Eugene Souleiman's pretty creations were decorated with sparkling accessories. In contrast, many of the braided hairstyles for the Meruert Tolegen show were vertical and deliberately asymmetrical, creating much more drama. Crimped hair We've seen the return of '90s fashion and beauty in recent years, and (for those of us old enough to have had one the first time around) it may be time to dig up the crimping iron from storage. At Chet Lo, the hair was straightened and crimped in distinct sections, while at Alexander McQueen, manes were also crimped here and there, but left to look undone. Lined lips

Millie Bobby Brown, 21, goes makeup-free after trolls say she looks ‘old'

Millie Bobby Brown proudly showed off her makeup-free face after haters said she looked 'old' at the premiere of her new movie, 'The Electric State,' on Monday. While promoting her brand Florence By Mills' spot acne patches on Instagram Friday, the 'Stranger Things' actress revealed she's still 'figuring out' the best way to take care of her skin. 'Hey guys it's Mills here, I don't know if you can see but my break out is pretty bad right now,' she said in the clip she posted without any filters. 'I'm 21 years old, I'm still figuring out what my skin likes and what it doesn't.' After the video was uploaded, many fans praised the 'Enola Holmes' star for being so candid and vulnerable. 'mills your skin is beautiful! It's really sweet that you show your real self and normalize something completely natural thanks to you, i've started accepting my own skin more and flo acne patches help me so much! I LOVE YOU ,' one person wrote in the comments section. Another added, 'mills remember you are amazing and beautiful your skin is perfect!! ' 'So pretty like always!! ,' a third netizen said. Brown's makeup-free reveal comes after people questioned her looks earlier in the week. At the Los Angeles premiere of 'Electric State,' Brown walked the carpet alongside her husband, Jake Bongiovi, and wore an Annie's Ibiza metallic gold and bronze striped embroidered gown with a structured corset top and flowing train. The outfit also included a matching bolero jacket with shoulder pads. The 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' actress accessorized her look with a gold choker necklace and diamond earrings from De Beers, while wearing her blond hair in a messy updo with bangs down to her eyelashes. Following the event, online trolls questioned whether the British star looked age-appropriate. Some even compared her to former 'Baywatch' star Pamela Anderson. 'If this was on someone like Jane Fonda, Jessica Lange or even Pamela Anderson it would have been chefs kiss! She's way too young for this look eek,' one commenter said at the time. 'Literally had to double check [she] turned 21 the other day and not 40,' another wrote. Brown, however, clapped back at the haters by posting a screenshot of a British Vogue story with the headline 'No One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looks' to her Instagram Story on Thursday. '@britishvogue thank you,' she simply wrote.

Millie Bobby Brown Wears Gwyneth Paltrow's 1998 Sheer Armani Dress for ‘The Electric State' Madrid Premiere With Jake Bongiovi

Millie Bobby Brown married two ongoing red carpet trends, archival dressing and sheer fabrics, for the premiere of Netflix's 'The Electric State' in Madrid on Friday. Accompanied by her husband, Jake Bongiovi, the actress attended the event in a vintage Giorgio Armani dress that Gwyneth Paltrow famously wore at the 1998 'Shakespeare in Love' premiere in New York City. The dress, a sheer, beaded ice-gray gown, was paired with a dark blue shawl for contrast. The styling option was another reference to Paltrow's look, which also featured a long black shawl. Her work in 'Shakespeare in Love' would go on to win her the Academy Award for Best Actress. Brown confirmed her look was a tribute to Paltrow on her Instagram. The 'Stranger Things' star was styled by Ryan Young for the premiere. Young's been working with Brown throughout 'The Electric State' promo tour, previously dressing her in Annie's Ibiza for the movie's premiere in Los Angeles. During the promo tour, Brown also channeled another '90s fashion icon, Pamela Anderson, wearing a gold satin dress with her bombshell blond tresses, as seen on Brown's Instagram. Bongiovi accompanied his wife, embracing other staples from the '90s. He wore an oversize leather jacket, denim pants and Loewe boots. 'The Electric State' will be available for streaming on Netflix starting on March 7. Millie Bobby Brown's best red carpet moments since turning blonde

Millie Bobby Brown Bongiovi has made a handful of red carpet appearances since retiring her signature brunette locks in favour of bright blonde. Mainly thanks to the premieres of her new Netflix film, The Electric State, which is based on a Swedish comic book of the same name set in an alternate version of the 1990s, Brown has showcased a smorgasbord of red carpet looks since turning blonde. Her latest look featured at the Madrid premiere of The Electric State, where she wore a vintage Giorgio Armani dress, previously worn by Gwyneth Paltrow for the 1998 Shakespeare In Love premiere. The Stranger Things star channelled old-school glamour in the sheer column dress, her hair styled in sweeping Hollywood curls, and had paired the embroidered gown with a navy silk wrap. The 21-year-old actor originally debuted her new look at the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet in LA, California, last Sunday, wearing a custom Louis Vuitton peach silk gown and diamond earrings. The statement blonde shade is inspired by Nineties bombshells including Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson. 'Millie has been blonde before, but this time we really wanted to lean into those iconic Nineties blondes for her,' explains Millie Bobby Brown's hairstylist, Pete Burkill. 'Blonde always makes a statement, but this particular shade and style really amplify that bold, confident energy.' Burkill suggests Brown's new colour is leaning into a new trend of high-maintenance hairstyles. 'It's exciting to see people embracing more high-maintenance hair looks again,' he says. 'For the past decade, especially post-COVID, low-maintenance styles like balayage have dominated, which, while beautiful, meant fewer salon visits. 'Now, there's a shift toward these 'power blondes' and the versatility that comes with them.' At the LA premiere of The Electric State, Brown channelled full Pamela Anderson in a piled-up bun and an Annie's Ibiza gown. Only just debuting on the London Fashion Week runways a week prior, Brown stepped out in a gold embellished gown with a matching beaded bolero, inspired by the women of the Renaissance including Joan of Arc. 'My love for Leonardo da Vinci's tireless pursuit of perfection and limitless imagination served as a guiding light throughout this collection,' says Annie Doble, founder of the London-based label Annie's Ibiza. Annie's Ibiza has quickly becoming a go-to for A-listers seeking unique, scene-stealing pieces, worn by the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift and Kate and Lila Moss. Brown's red carpet looks have leant into a warmer colour palette since turning blonde, wearing peaches and golds that steer away from the cooler whites and silvers she wore as a brunette. With awards season still in full swing, we can't wait to see what else Brown has up her sleeve.
