India can no longer empower countries that are inimical to New Delhi's interests: VP Dhankhar
New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar today said India can no longer afford, by travel or import, to empower countries that are inimical to India's interests, and positioned against India in times of crisis, with apparent reference to Turkiye and Azerbaijan that have clearly sided with Pakistan against New Delhi. 'Can we afford to empower countries that are inimical to our interests? Time has come when each one of us must deeply think about economic nationalism,' he said. He emphasised that, 'We no longer can afford, by travel or import, to improve the economies of those countries because of our participation. And those countries, in times of crisis, are positioned against us.' Addressing the Annual Convocation of Jaipuria Institute of Management at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, today, VP Dhankhar said, 'Every individual is empowered to help the nation in security. Trade, business, commerce, and industry in particular can play a pivotal role in security issues. Therefore I firmly believe that we must always keep one thing in mind, and that is: Nation first. Everything has to be reckoned on the fulcrum of deep commitment, unflinching commitment, dedication to nationalism. And that mindset we must teach our toddlers right from day one.' He also lauded the ongoing Operation Sindoor and paid tribute to India's Armed Forces. 'I must, on this occasion—since I am addressing youth of the country in particular—offer my salutations to all Armed Forces and the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the remarkable success of the ongoing Operation Sindoor.' Calling the operation a befitting response to the barbaric attack at Pahalgam, he added, 'It was a remarkable retaliation, befitting our ethos of peace and tranquility to the barbarity that happened at Pahalgam—the deadliest attack on our civilians since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. 'The Prime Minister of this country, Shri Narendra Modi, sent a message from India's heartland of Bihar to the entire global fraternity. Those were not empty words. The world now has realised: what is said is reality. 'No one is asking for proof now. The world has seen and acknowledged. We have seen this saga—how that country is deeply engrossed in terrorism. 'When coffins are taken with armed forces and military power and political power accompanying them, justice is done by Bharat to Sindoor in sublimity.' VP Dhankhar also said that a new standard has been set in India's counterterrorism efforts. 'In the mechanics of war and the fight against terrorism, a new benchmark has been set. Indian Armed Forces targeted Jaish-e-Mohammed at Bahawalpur, deep inside Pakistan territory. Beyond the international border—headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed, also Lashkar-e-Taiba base, Muridke. No one is asking for proof now. No one is asking for it. The world has seen and acknowledged.' He further added, 'It is India's deepest ever cross-border strike. Strike that was carefully, precisely calibrated to cause no damage except to the terrorist.' VP Dhankhar recalled the US operation on May 2nd, 2011 --in which the United States conducted Operation Neptune Spear, and shot and killed Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden at his 'Waziristan Haveli' in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Bin Laden, who founded al-Qaeda, masterminded the September 11 attacks in the US. 'This happened on May 2nd, 2011, when a global terrorist who planned, supervised, executed the September 11 attack inside the US in 2001. He was dealt with by the US similarly. Bharat has done it and done it to the knowledge of the global community,' the VP said. With apparent reference to collaboration between Turkiye with universities in India, VP Dhankhar said, 'How can we countenance or overlook narratives that are anti-national? Foreign universities coming to this country is something which requires filtration. It requires deep thinking. It is something we have to be extremely careful about.' On education and research, the Vice-President cautioned against commercialization. 'This country cannot afford commercialisation and commodification of education. It is undeniable, it is present. Education and health as per our civilization ethos are not areas to make money. These are areas to give back to society. We have to discharge our obligation to society.' Sharad Jaipuria, Chairman, Board of Governors, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Anjali Jaipuria, Spouse of Chairman, Board of Governors, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Shreevats Jaipuria, Vice Chairman, Jaipuria Institute of Management and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. 'Remarkable Retaliation': VP Dhankhar Compares Operation Sindoor To Strike On Osama Bin Laden
Agency: Last Updated: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar described the Pahalgam terror attack as the 'deadliest' attack on our civilians since the 2008 Mumbai attack. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of Operation Sindoor and likened the destruction of terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir to the killing of Al Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden by the US forces in Abbottabad in that country in 2011. Addressing the Annual Convocation of Jaipuria Institute of Management at Bharat Mandapam, Dhankhar congratulated PM Modi and the Armed forces for the success of Operation Sindoor and said, 'It was a remarkable retaliation befitting our ethos of peace and tranquility… Bharat has done it and done it to the knowledge of the global community." 'Justice done by Bharat to sindoor in sublimity," he said, highlighting it as India's deepest ever cross-border strike, executed 'carefully, precisely, calibrated" to cause no damage, except to terrorists. Without naming bin Laden, the Vice Presisent said the strikes under Operation Sindoor also took place in May just as on May 2 in 2011 'a global terrorist who planned, supervised, and executed September 11 attack inside the US in 2001, was killed. He was 'dealt with" by the US forces 'similarly". The Vice President described the Pahalgam terror attack as the 'deadliest" attack on our civilians since the 2008 Mumbai attack. He said PM Modi had sent a message from Bihar to the entire global fraternity. 'Those were not empty words, the world has realised. What he said is a reality," he said. In the mechanics of war and fight against terrorism, a new benchmark has been set in which the Indian armed forces targeted JeM at Bahawalpur, deep inside Pakistan territory, and also the LeT base in Muridke. The VP also took a swipe at the Congress leaders who had sought evidence of the surgical strike after the Uri attack. 'No one is asking for proof now. The world has seen and acknowledged, and we have seen the saga of how that country is deeply engrossed in terrorism when coffins are taken with armed forces and political power accompanying them," he said. Earlier, he praised the conducive environment of hope and possibility in the country, due to the government's affirmative policies, which hold promise for young students graduating from colleges. He said, 'Fortunately for you, unlike people of my generation, in the country there is an environment of hope and possibility." 'You all have an enabling eco-system, affirmative government policies that facilitate the fullest exploitation of talent and potential. You can realise your dreams and aspirations," he said. He urged students to continue their learning, as convocation does not mean the end of education. 'Always be a good learner and acquire the skill of self-learning," he said.

agdeep Dhankhar draws parallels between Operation Sindoor, Osama bin Laden's assassination: ‘Bharat has done it'
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar likened India's Operation Sindoor to the killing of al-Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden by the US. While speaking at the Annual Convocation of Jaipuria Institute of Management on Saturday, Dhankhar said Operation Sindoor was "India's deepest ever cross-border strikes." "A strike that was carefully, precisely calibrated to cause no damage except to the terrorist," Jagdeep Dhankhar said addressing an event of Jaipuria institutions in Delhi. Without naming Bin Laden, Jagdeep Dhankhar said, "This happened on May 2, 2011, when a global terrorist who planned, supervised, executed September 11 attack inside the US in 2001, he was dealt with by the US similarly." "Bharat has done it. And done it to the knowledge of the world," he said. Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda were key conspirators of the terror attack in the US on September 11, 2001. It's known as 9/11 attacks. On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked four airliners in the eastern United States. They flew three of the planes into buildings: the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The terrorists crashed the fourth plane in a field in rural Pennsylvania after passengers heroically rebelled. The attacks killed nearly 3,000 people and injured thousands more, the FBI said. On May 2, 2011, under orders from then US President Obama, a special operations unit raided the compound in northern Pakistan and killed bin Laden. India launched Operation Sindoor to target at least nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir on May 7. India said over 100 terrorists were killed in the operation. Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian armed forces in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed at least 26 people. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar described attacks on nine terror sites in Pakistan as the "deepest-ever cross-border strike" by India. He said that a new "global benchmark" has been set. While maintaining the spirit of peace, the objective has been to strike at terrorism. He said Indian armed forces targeted Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba "deep inside Pakistan territory". He said the strikes were so precise that only terrorists were harmed. Dhankhar said that after the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a message to the global community from Bihar. "Those were not empty words. The world has now realised what he [PM Modi] said is a reality," he said. He also said that the Pahalgam terror attack, which left at least 26 people dead, was the "deadliest attack on our civilians since 2008 Mumbai attacks."
