Three die as speeding SUV hits bike in Samastipur
Patna: Three people died after a speeding SUV collided hit their bike near a milk dairy under Rosera police station area of Samastipur district late Thursday night. They were going on a bike to attend a wedding event at Garhpura village in the district when the accident occurred, police said.
According to the police, the deceased were identified as Anoj Kumar (30), Sher Bahadur alias Poolu (20), and Sujit Kumar alias Dilkhush (15), all residents of Fafaut village under Khodawandpur police station in Begusarai district. Anoj was pursuing paramedical studies in Delhi and was set to get married in November.
Rosera SDPO, Komal Kumari, said, "The incident occurred around 1am when the trio was heading to Garhpura village from Mirzapur to attend a wedding celebration.
The SUV, coming from the opposite direction, struck their motorcycle, resulting in their death on the spot. The SUV driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle."
Baldev Das, grandfather of the youngest victim, Sujit, said he was going to attend the wedding of Golu Kumar along with two other youths of the village when the tragedy struck.
"When we arrived with the wedding procession at Garhpura, the police informed us about the incident. After that, we went to the spot with family members. The bodies were handed over to the families after a postmortem at Samastipur sadar hospital. A search operation is underway to apprehend the absconding driver." the SDPO added.
