Leicester saree shop announces closure after more than 50 years
The owners of a saree shop in Leicester have announced they are closing after more than 50 years in team behind Anokhi House of Sarees in Belgrave Road said the store was "not just a shop, but a sanctuary where tradition, love, and community came alive every single day".As well as providing sarees for more than half a century, the store became well known for its window decorations to celebrate Diwali.A spokesperson said: "Every year, a spectacle of light and colour, a symbol of hope and joy that brightened the Golden Mile and your hearts. You'll miss seeing them glow, just as we will miss creating that magic for you."
The team behind the shop also paid tribute to staff and customers in a message posted online on statement added: "The Golden Mile is losing more than a shop. It's losing a cornerstone of culture and community."
