Encouragement for Outstanding Students in Keren
Anseba Elementary, Junior, and High School has recognized 24 outstanding students who qualified for degree and diploma programs in the 2024/2025 National School Leaving Examination. At the event held on 5 August, Mr. Mohammed Salah, Director of the school, said that encouraging outstanding students significantly contributes to motivating them to strive for higher achievements in their college education and in inspiring their peers to follow their example and become competitive students. Mr. Kiflai Andemicael, Head of the Education Office in the region, noted that this practice of recognizing outstanding students has become a tradition and plays a vital role in encouraging others to work hard and excel in their education. He also urged the awardees to continue working diligently for even better results in their college education. During the event, a briefing was provided on the background of higher education institutions in the country and the guidelines students are expected to follow. Eritrea: Training for Heads of Ministry of Education Branch in Anseba Region
The Ministry of Education branch in the Anseba Region, in collaboration with partners, has provided training to heads of education regional office and supervisors, school directors, heads of sub-zonal education offices, and other officials. The training, conducted from 22 to 28 July in Keren, covered administration and leadership, student-centered teaching methodology, conflict resolution, reporting and statistics, as well as other topics related to the teaching-learning process. Mr. Kiflai Andemicael, head of the education office in the region, stated that the objective of the training was to identify strengths and challenges, and to enhance the capacity and competitiveness of students. Ambassador Abdella Musa, Governor of the region, emphasized the significance of the training in ensuring quality education and called for its sustainability. In the same vein, Brig. Gen. Eyob Fesehaye (Halibai), Commander of the Western Command of the Eritrean Defense Forces, conducted a seminar for the training participants under the theme 'The Compensation of a Committed Teacher is the Satisfaction of Conscience.' Noting that teachers and teaching are key pillars of resilience, Brig. Gen. Eyob underscored that education is the only path to development and called on teachers to properly discharge the heavy responsibility bestowed upon them. Eritrea: Loan Opportunity to Disabled Veterans in Anseba Region
The National Association of Eritrean War Disabled Veterans in the Anseba Region has distributed over 300 million Nakfa in loans to its members. Mr. Shimwele Woldegerigis, chairman of the association's regional branch, said the initiative aims to empower disabled veterans by enabling them to engage in income-generating activities and become productive members of society. He also encouraged other members to take advantage of the opportunity. The beneficiary veterans, expressing gratitude for the support, affirmed their readiness to work hard and improve their livelihoods. Eritrea: Efforts to Develop Tourism Activities
Mr. Saleh Ali, Director General of Tourism in the Anseba Region, reported that strong efforts are being made to develop the tourism sector in the region. Stating that proper investment in tourism can generate significant income, Mr. Saleh noted that countries enjoying peace and stability have great potential to attract visitors. He said Eritrea in general, and the Anseba Region in particular, possess rich resources of interest to tourists. He mentioned ancient buildings, World War II-era trenches, cemeteries of Italian and British soldiers, historic battlefronts from the struggle for independence, and religious sites and artifacts as key attractions in the region. Awareness-raising activities are also being conducted in schools and government institutions to promote domestic tourism.
