Large crowds expected in Carlow for annual Borris Fair with motorists warned of delays in the area
The fair takes place every year on the Main Street in Borris on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption.
Large crowds from across the country are expected to descend on Borris for the annual event.
Diversions are currently in place for Borris village as the Main Street will be closed to traffic.
"A large policing presence will be in attendance for the duration of the event,' Supt Anthony Farrell told the Irish Independent.
"Roads into Borris will be closed and garda checkpoints will be on all access routes into the village.
"We'd ask people who intend travelling in the environ of Borris to follow road diversion signs and indeed instruction of gardaí. Please allow extra time for your journey,' he concluded.
Traditionally a number of local businesses and shops in the village close for the day to allow the fair to take place.
