CM unveils rural devpt package

Mohan Charan Majhi
on Thursday unveiled a comprehensive package of
rural development
initiatives during the National
Panchayati Raj Day
celebrations, emphasising the state's commitment to transforming village life. "With 83% of our population residing in villages, no meaningful development is possible without rural transformation," Majhi said, addressing a gathering of panchayat representatives and officials in Puri.
He announced several key measures, including distribution of new ration cards to six lakh beneficiaries and financial assistance to over two lakh beneficiaries under the Subhadra scheme. A significant infrastructure push was marked by the foundation-laying of 314 block-level stadiums, with an investment of ₹4,124 crore.
Digital governance received a boost with the launch of the e-Panchayat Sabha portal and Panchayat Monitoring System. Additionally, ₹32 crore will be disbursed as incentive funds to 613 high-performing gram panchayats.
Looking ahead, Majhi promised universal access to safe drinking water across
Odisha
by 2026. The state govt also plans to invest ₹7,550 crore under the Antyodaya Housing Scheme to build 5 lakh homes for the poor over the next three years.
