Odisha increases allowances for civil defence volunteers, home guards

Bhubaneswar: The state govt on Friday increased allowances for civil defence volunteers and home guards, as per the chief minister's office (CMO). "Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi announces a hike of the civil defence volunteers' daily duty allowance from Rs 31 to Rs 150. Their training allowance has been increased to Rs 140 from Rs 28. These revised rates will take effect from May 1, 2025. Similarly, home guards' daily duty allowance has been elevated to Rs 623 from Rs 612, effective from January 1, 2025," a statement from the CMO said. The chief minister hopes a growth in civil defence wing membership following the allowance revision. "Odisha currently has less than 700 active civil defence volunteers. Formula race: ACB issues fresh notice to KTR to appear on June 16

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has issued a fresh notice to BRS working president and former IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao in connection with the alleged Formula-E financial irregularities. He has been asked to appear before the bureau at 10 a.m. on June 16. This is the second time the BRS leader has been summoned in the case. The ACB had served notices to Mr. Rama Rao on May 26, asking him to appear for questioning on May 28. However, it was postponed at his request due to his pre-scheduled trip abroad. The case revolves around an alleged ₹54 crore payout, including ₹8 crore in taxes, made to the organisers of the Formula E race in Hyderabad. The transaction, which allegedly bypassed Cabinet approval, also triggered scrutiny of senior bureaucrat Arvind Kumar, to whom a memo was issued over the authorisation of payment. On December 19, 2024, ACB had registered an FIR against Mr. Rama Rao over allegations of irregularities in the conduct of the race held in the city in February 2023. Meanwhile, KTR took to 'X' to comment, 'I have been summoned by the ACB to appear for 'investigation' on Monday at 10 a.m., in the Formula E case where ₹44 crore was transferred bank to bank and the money is very much in the account of FE. As a law-abiding citizen, I will attend and fully cooperate with the ACB officials.' When you cannot run a government, keep people busy with a circus and distractions! Congress and its clown CM's antics won't deter us I have been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Bureau to appear for 'investigation' on Monday at 10am, in Formula-E case where ₹ 44 crore was… — KTR (@KTRBRS) June 13, 2025
