Bhubaneswar, Jul 29 (PTI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday launched a week-long campaign to boost the market availability of indigenous products manufactured in the state's underdeveloped and backward regions. Majhi launched the 'Akanksha Haat Abhiyan' during a felicitation function organised by the Planning and Convergence Department of the state government. The Odisha government's 'Aspirational District and Block Programme' focuses on implementing the scheme at the grassroots level, he said. Work is underway towards achieving the goals of inclusive development through socio-economic indicators based on health and nutrition, education, agriculture, water resources, financial inclusion and skill development, he said. Majhi said said after the district level, work on the programme has now been extended to the block level. 'The quality of life of the people in remote and underdeveloped blocks is being improved and better services provided to them," he said. 'I am very happy to announce that the week-long 'Akanksha Haat Abhiyan' is being launched today to take the 'Akanksha Brand' at the grassroots level," Majhi said. He said the drive will increase the market availability of locally produced products in remote and underdeveloped areas of Odisha. 'The economic condition of local self-help groups, farmers, artisans and weavers will improve, and their products will be available to consumers at affordable and fair prices," Majhi said. Such products will also be made available in digital marketplaces, he said. Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday launched a week-long "Aspirational Market Campaign" aimed at enhancing market access for locally produced goods in remote and underdeveloped areas of the state. The initiative focuses on inclusive development through various social and economic indicators, including health, education, agriculture, and skill development. The campaign aligns with the Prime Minister's "Vocal for Local" movement and introduces the "Aspirational Brand" launched in 2024. This initiative is expected to improve the economic status of local women's self-help groups, farmers, artisans, and weavers while ensuring fair prices for consumers. The programme will also facilitate digital marketing of local products through e-marketplaces, a govt statement reads. Currently, the aspirational district program (ADP) operates in 10 districts, while the aspirational block program (ABP) covers 29 blocks across 16 districts in . The state's performance in these programmes was noteworthy, with districts collectively securing awards worth Rs 165 crore, the statement maintains. At the ceremony, several districts and blocks were recognised for their outstanding performance. Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts received gold medals, while Kandhamal and Koraput earned silver medals. In the block category, Khairput, Mathili, Chitrakonda and Dabugaon blocks were awarded gold medals. The campaign implements the "3Cs" approach - Convergence, Collaboration, and Competition - to ensure coordinated development efforts between central and state authorities while promoting healthy competition among districts based on key performance indicators.

Odisha CM's grievance cell records 91% resolution rate

BHUBANESWAR: With resolution of around 91 per cent of the complaints received at the chief minister's grievance cell till the 12th round, the grievance redressal mechanism of the state government has proved to be a big success. The grievance cell of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had received 11,516 complaints till the 12th round held on July 7 out of which 10,502 complaints have been resolved. The remaining complaints are in the process of being addressed, officials said. Majhi who heard public grievances in Unit-II area of the city on Monday provided immediate medical assistance to three critically-ill persons from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Since the revival of the CM's grievance cell last year, 51 people have received Rs 55 lakh in medical assistance through the system. As usual, the chief minister began the day by meeting differently-abled persons first and addressing individual complaints outside the grievance cell. He then attended to the people waiting inside the hall. He directed the secretaries and other senior officials of departments concerned to ensure prompt disposal of all grievances. Nine ministers including Revenue minister Suresh Pujari, Law minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Health minister Mukesh Mahaling, Commerce and Transport minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Housing and Urban Development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and Panchayati Raj minister Rabi Narayan Naik assisted the chief minister.

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday reiterated the government's commitment to build an empowered and self-reliant Odisha and bring a transformative change as envisaged in the Odisha Vision 2036. Addressing Panchjanya's national dialogue series 'Sushasan Samvad: Odisha Ki Udaan' here, the chief minister shared his vision of a 'Shashakt aur Atmanirbhar' Odisha. Majhi said the state has enough potential to achieve rapid progress through its skilled human resources, resilient infrastructure and its deeply rooted age-old cultural heritage. He highlighted various pro-people schemes launched by the government, including the reopening of all four gates of the Jagannath temple in Puri to enable free access to devotees, constituting a corpus of Rs 500 crore for temple development, execution of Subhadra Yojana for women empowerment and grant of input assistance of Rs 800 per quintal for paddy over and above the minimum support price to the farmers. 'We have provided employment opportunities to more than 28,000 people in the first year and set a target for another 40,000 government jobs next year. Additionally, 30,000 private jobs have been created in industries such as tourism and textiles with plans to create over 1,00,000 jobs in the near future,' he added. Deputy chief minister Pravati Parida underlined the crucial role of women's leadership and entrepreneurship in governance and societal development. The conclave brought together eminent leaders and thinkers to highlight Odisha's journey towards self-reliance and robust governance. Maharastra minister Nitesh Rane said maritime states like Odisha are set to witness a wave of economic surge via port-led growth, trade logistics and sustainable ocean resource management. 'The coastal states are India's gateway to the world. Odisha's trajectory is a mirror reflecting the nation's vision of sustainable progress,' he said. Other eminent dignitaries included senior RSS pracharak Mukul Kanitkar and national convenor of Pragya Pravah J Nandakumar. In his address, Panchjanya's editor Hitesh Shankar stressed that eastern India's rise needs to be brought into the limelight, with specific reference to Odisha's potential to become a national model of inclusive and resilient governance. He said, 'Sushasan Samvad' is not just a platform for dialogue but a mission to build consensus and clarity on India's developmental vision.

Bhubaneswar, Jul 28 (PTI) Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi has sanctioned Rs 55 lakh for the treatment of needy people from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund in 2025, a statement said. Attending the 13th edition of the public grievances hearing on Monday, Majhi sanctioned immediate medical assistance for three persons who are suffering from incurable and chronic diseases, it said. With this, he has sanctioned Rs 55 lakh for a total of 51 persons for medical treatment this year, it added. The government has set up a single-window system for immediate medical assistance to needy people from the CMRF. Senior officers and nine ministers were present in the hearing, the statement said. The CM and his team heard the grievances of 11,516 people, of which 10,502 were resolved — a resolution rate of 91 per cent. The remaining cases are currently under process, the statement said.
