1 2 3 4 5 6 Belagavi: The Basava Jayanti celebrations got off to a grand start in Belagavi on Sunday. A bike rally was launched as a prelude to the festival. The flyover connecting the railway station road to Basaveshwar Circle was named after Basaveshwar, and dignitaries unveiled the nameplate. The 'Anubhav Mantapa Vaibhav Rath Yatra', which started from the birthplace of Basavanna and travelled across the entire state, was given a grand welcome at Belagavi. A bike rally was kicked off at Basaveshwar Circle in Goaves, Belagavi. Gurusiddha Swamiji of Karanji Mutt, Allamaprabhu Swamiji of Naganur Rudrakshimatt, MP Jagadish Shettar, MLA Abhay Patil, and former MLC Mahantesh Kavatagimath offered prayers to the statue of Basavanna and hoisted the Basava flag. Prabhakar Kore flagged off the bike rally. Thousands of bikers rode through the main streets of Belagavi, passing RPD Circle, Big Bazaar, Anagol Main Road, Vadagavi Main Road, Nath Pai Circle Shahapur, Khade Bazaar, Shivaji Garden Kapileshwar Marg, Ramdev Galli, Samadevi Galli, College Road, Channamma Circle, Naganur Math, Lingayat Bhavan, Srinagar Udyan, Mahantesh Nagar, Harsha Hotel, and ended at Ramateertha Nagar. Ratnaprabha Bellad, Basavaraj Rotti, Iranna Deyannavar, Ashok Bendigeri, Chandrashekar Bembalagi, Shankar Gudas, and MB Zirli, participated. On the occasion, more than 18 organisations such as the Akhil Bharat Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha, Jagatik Lingayat Mahasabha, Lingayat Sangathan, National Basava Dal, Lingayat Mahila Samaj, Lingayat Seva Samiti, Basava Kayakjeevi Sangha, Basaveshwar Yuvak Sangha, Lingayat Dharma Mahasabha, Lingayat Kshemabhivriddhi Sangha, Lingayat Business Forum, Danamma Devi Temple Trust, and Basaveshwara Kalyana Mantapa Trust participated. Leaders of these organisations, Ratnaprabha Bellad, Basavaraj Rotti, Iranna Deyannavar, Ashok Bendigeri, Chandrashekar Bembalagi, Shankar Gudas, and MB Zirli, were present. The Anubhav Mantapa Vaibhav Rath Yatra, which started from the birthplace of Basaveshwar and travelled across the state, was given a grand welcome at Rani Channamma Circle on Sunday. The yatra will end at Kudalsangama on April 30. Officials and public representatives welcomed the chariot procession by participating in the folk band and playing instruments.
