LIC enters into MOU with DoRD to promote Bima Sakhi Yojana

Hyderabad, July 21 (UNI) Life Insurance Corporation of India on Monday said it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Department of Rural Development (DoRD), Ministry of Rural Development, to promote its Bima Sakhi Yojana in rural areas. The MoU was signed during the National Conclave on Financial Inclusion – 'Anubhuti' – organized by the Ministry from July 8 to 10, 2025 at Goa, the insurance company said in a release. LIC's Bima Sakhi Yojana is exclusively designed to help women get a strong foothold in the highly lucrative insurance distribution scheme. It's a performance oriented stipendiary LIC agency career only for women where all other benefits and privileges available for LIC agents are also provided. It has been designed to enable women to have long term financial independence and add more strength to industry. Under this scheme Bima Sakhi agents are provided with a facility to receive monthly stipends of Rs 7000 in first, Rs 6000 in second and Rs 5000 in the third agency year, subject to some terms and conditions. Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY – NRLM) goals has been found to be in perfect alignment with the deliverables under Bima Sakhi Yojana. UNI KNR GNK

LIC Signs MoU to expand women-only insurance scheme in rural India

Hyderabad: The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Rural Development, under the Ministry of Rural Development, to expand the reach of its women-centric Bima Sakhi Yojana across rural India. The agreement was formalized during the National Conclave on Financial Inclusion, 'Anubhuti,' held from July 8 to 10 in Goa. The Bima Sakhi Yojana aims to empower rural women by offering them a career in insurance distribution through a performance-based, stipendiary LIC agency program. Designed exclusively for women, the scheme ensures that Bima Sakhi agents receive all standard LIC agent benefits, along with additional financial support during the initial years. Participants in the scheme are eligible to receive monthly stipends of Rs7,000 in the first year, Rs6,000 in the second, and Rs5,000 in the third year of their agency tenure, subject to specified conditions.
