Jhanak fame Anupam Bhattacharya on men's mental health; says ‘It remains a highly underrated topic
Actor Anupam Bhattacharya, known for his roles in Jhanak Season 2, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, and a cameo in War 2, is shedding light on an issue often overlooked—men's mental health. In a recent conversation, the actor shared his views on how emotional struggles among men are largely brushed aside or buried. 'Men are victims of their own latent nature, they are mostly closed about problems and stresses... which acts as a hindrance for them to open up to even the near and dear ones,' he says. 'It's easy to preach that you should talk about your problems, but for men, they would feel vulnerable if they did—and I don't think any amount of awareness drive can change much.' Opening up about his personal journey, Anupam adds, 'I am no different and have faced situations where I found myself isolated or going into a shell... being fully aware that it might lead to depression and other mental illnesses.' The actor believes that financial and emotional issues are at the core of most mental health challenges faced by men. 'Financial independence is very important,' he notes. 'While you are doing well, you must invest and manage contingencies for any future uncertainties.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Abiti in una casa indipendente? The time spent with your sports buddies, the banter, the game involvement—it completely distresses you. Of course, there are other ways too, but this is my mantra.' Anupam's candid take adds an important voice to the ongoing conversation about mental health, especially in a space where male vulnerability is rarely addressed.

He emphasized that being part of a YRF production significantly impacts an actor's career trajectory. 'It changes your market positioning and opens doors for better prospects—both within YRF and in the larger industry. I'm hopeful this will lead to more exciting work,' he said. Anupam fondly recalled shooting on Diwali day in 2024, calling the post-shoot celebrations especially memorable. 'That moment—working on such a big project and then celebrating Diwali with the team—really stayed with me,' he shared, describing the experience as both fulfilling and auspicious. The actor also highlighted the value of every role within a cinematic universe, regardless of its screen time. 'Even the smallest parts have their significance, and often, they're the ones that people unexpectedly remember. It feels gratifying to be part of something that big, where your presence adds to the mythos of the universe,' he noted. War 2 continues the journey of Indian agent Kabir Dhaliwal (played by Hrithik Roshan), who now faces off against a rogue agent, played by Jr NTR. Kiara Advani joins the franchise as the female lead, while the sequel expands YRF's spy universe with deeper narratives and broader global stakes. With rising expectations and a release date locked in, War 2 is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious Bollywood projects of the year—and Anupam Bhattacharya's addition only adds to the buzz.

Anupam Bhattacharya, recognised for his role in Ishq Subhanallah, is set to make a comeback to television after a five-year hiatus. He will be portraying Shashwat Sengupta in the show Jhanak post the leap. His decision to return was influenced by the character's potential to drive the story and the extensive reach of television. Actor Anupam Bhattacharya, last seen on television in Ishq Subhanallah, is returning to the small screen after nearly half a decade. 'I have been staying away from television for a fairly long time now… the primary reason being in a quest for a quality role on TV and concentrating more on OTT, films, and advertisements,' he says. In the years away from daily soaps, he stayed active with over 100 ad films and roles in projects like The Body, Farrey, TE3N, and Khakee. He now joins Jhanak post the leap of the show. Sharing about his role, he says, 'I am playing the role of Shashwat Sengupta — a rich businessman, a widower with a boy and a girl in their teens. He marries Ishani, one of the leads, to take care of his children and household errands.' He adds, 'I saw Shashwat as a character who can drive the story along with his interesting personality traits. That's why I took this show up.' Though he finds OTT and films creatively satisfying and rewarding as a performer, he acknowledges the power of television. 'Television has a huge reach in terms of audience, hence immense recall value, which always helps enhance your market,' he says.
