‘Awakening the Inner Light' Explores Introspection and Identity Through Contemporary Art
A group exhibition titled ' Awakening the Inner Light ' is offering viewers a contemplative journey through paintings and photographs that examine the inner workings of self, memory, and resilience. On display this week, the exhibition brings together fifteen contemporary artists whose works explore deeply personal and spiritual terrains. Spanning abstract canvases, textured surfaces, and symbolic portraits, the show meditates on themes of transformation, silence, and cultural memory. From rooftops of childhood rendered in evocative tones to photographs capturing raw emotional stillness, the exhibition becomes a space where visual storytelling meets quiet introspection. The artists—including names such as Akansha Chaturvedi, Anupama Singh, Dharmendra Rathore, Lorraine Thiria, and Moonmoon Bhagchandika, among others—reflect on the invisible threads that connect consciousness, identity, and belonging. Light emerges not just as an aesthetic device, but as a recurring metaphor for clarity, resistance, and renewal. Curator Ranbir Rathi describes the show as a recognition of 'awakening' not as a final destination, but as an evolving and often imperfect process. 'The inner light is not about reaching enlightenment in the traditional sense,' he explains. 'It's about honouring the courage and clarity that already reside within us.' One of the standout moments of the exhibition is a powerful self-portrait of a woman captured in a ritual gesture—both vulnerable and commanding—anchoring the viewer in themes of embodiment and inner strength. Elsewhere, urban textures, ritual symbolism, and quiet landscapes invite layered interpretations. 'Awakening the Inner Light' doesn't preach—it prompts. In a time marked by distraction and disconnection, the exhibition urges visitors to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the quiet, persistent light within.

‘Pakistan breeds terrorism': Indian diplomat's strong rebuttal at WHO goes viral
India has delivered a strong rebuttal to Pakistan at the World Health Organization (WHO), calling out its role in fostering terrorism. Speaking at the WHO headquarters in Geneva, Indian diplomat Anupama Singh exercised India's right of reply and slammed Pakistan, saying, "Pakistan breeds terrorism, cannot masquerade as its victim." She further asserted, "Let us not forget the sponsors and organisers of terrorism operate from Pakistani soil. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor, precise, proportionate and focused on the infrastructure of terror inside Pakistan." Highlighting India's restraint, she added, "We took measures to ensure their civilians are neither targeted nor harmed. Rather, only the Pakistan-trained terrorists and their well-known hideouts." "Pakistan also continues its false narrative regarding the Indus waters treaty, trying to obfuscate the issue." Reinforcing her stance, she said, "A state that breeds terrorism cannot masquerade as its victims," she said. A video of Anupama Singh's statement has gone viral on social media. India has mounted a spirited campaign to highlight its resolve to confront state-sponsored terrorism emanating from Pakistan as multi-party delegations started reaching out to world capitals to assert its right to self-defence following Operation Sindoor. Delegations led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha and Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde left for Japan and the UAE, respectively, to highlight Pakistan's policies of patronising terror outfits over the past few decades. "Zero tolerance against terrorism," the ministry of external affairs said in a social media post as the delegations started departing for their visits. The delegation led by Jha will also travel to South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore as part of India's outreach following Operation Sindoor and the subsequent conflict between India and Pakistan.
