LIDS (19A: Retailer that sells hats) There are currently over 1100 LIDS stores, mostly located in malls and factory outlets. AERO (35A: European chocolate bar with bubbles) AERO chocolate bars are manufactured using a process that was patented in 1935. The chocolate is heated and aerated to create small bubbles. An exclamation point in a crossword clue is an indication to solvers that there is a bit of trickiness going on, and the clue should be interpreted literally. The exclamation point in today's title is serving a similar purpose. Each of the theme answers is literally something that might be SCRATCHed. There was a lot of love in the room at the Chateau Marmont Tuesday night as Miley Cyrus debuted her album Something Beautiful for a small crowd of about 100 fans — as evidenced by the couple that got engaged right in front of a surprised Cyrus after she wrapped up a performance of her song 'End of the World.' 'Go get a room, put it on my bill,' Cyrus said, jaw agape as the couple embraced and the crowd erupted in cheers. The crowd was made up mainly of fans, but also had a few friends like Anya Taylor-Joy. The crowd piled into the Chateau at 6 p.m., with most expecting just to listen to the album a few days early before its wide release this Friday. But by 7 p.m., the chatty room briefly went silent, wondering what was happening next before once again exploding with shouts and applause as Cyrus came out up front with her band. 'You like your style, and you love mine,' Cyrus quipped, glammed out in a shimmering silver old Hollywood-style dress as she started with Something Beautiful track 'More to Lose.' She then played latest single 'Easy Lover' before belting last year's smash hit 'Flowers,' telling the crowd she hopes all of her upcoming album's songs 'touch people the way this song has.' Cyrus, flanked pianist Michal Pollack, drummer Maxx Morando and guitarist Jonathan Rado, was loose and comfortable around her fans, opining between songs about growing up together and how the fans In the room have stuck with her through the many changes in her sound and personal life since her days as a teen idol as Hannah Montana nearly 20 years ago. 'We really did grow up together, that's why it's so emotional for all of us, we've been on this journey together,' Cyrus said. 'We start to even outgrow ourselves, there's things we gain but things we also leave behind. And I've never wanted that to be you. I've never wanted that to be my fans, everyone I grew up with. As I started to go deeper on my own personal journey, it's always been my hope and vision that you all would come with me. It's always greatly appreciated when you do, and you always do.' Talking about that growth and the 'different species' of butterflies she gets in the room with her fans, she then went into an impromptu performance of 'The Climb,' joking that she 'wasn't going to perform' the song before fans goaded her. She finished up with 'End of the World.' During her set, Cyrus had talked about making Something Beautiful, which will also have an accompanying film, over the past couple years amid the Endless Summer Vacation era, joking that 'I wasn't on vacation, I was making the next album.' 'The next time you're spamming the comments, just know I'm busy in my bikini,' she said. Cyrus walked fans through the concept of Something Beautiful, telling the crowd 'it's about taking these experiences, even when they're painful or we want to throw them away because they're just too much to bear, and wrapping them in beautiful bows and ribbons and appreciating all these gifts and experiences that we can't understand how they're going to serve us later in our life.' While she's days away from the Something Beautiful era even coming into full swing, before she finished up the night with 'End of the World,' Cyrus teased even more music, readying fans to come along for that ride too. Massive band to reunite at Glastonbury for Legends slot after confirming they are making new album
SIR ROD STEWART has planned a mini Faces reunion for his Glastonbury Legends slot. Rollings Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, who is a close friend of the Maggie May singer and was in Faces with him in the Seventies, is heading to Worthy Farm to perform alongside him. Rod revealed it to Peter Crouch and Chris Stark on That Peter Crouch podcast, out now. When asked by Pete (who we regularly see at Glasto looking rather worse for wear) if he stayed in touch with the Stones or Sir Elton John, Rod told him: 'Not really, but Woody and I do a lot just recently because we are going to do Glastonbury together.' When asked why they'd lost touch, Rod said it was because neither Ronnie nor Elton drink any more, adding: 'I think they stay away from me.' Rod, above with Ronnie, hasn't revealed whether Faces drummer Kenney Jones will be coming on stage too. But the pair confirmed last month they'd made a new 11-track album. Kenney said of the songs, recorded at Rak Studios in London: 'Most of them are good. 'I can't see it coming out this year. But I can see it coming out next year. 'Everyone's doing different things. 'We do little snippets here and there. "Then all of a sudden, The Stones are out on tour again, Rod's out again.' New figures from the BPI revealed they increased by 1.9 per cent – the highest since the yearly survey started. Keeping with the jacket's coziness, Taylor-Joy added some comfortable footwear: a pair of black elasticated ballet flats with a pull-tab on the heel.
