MP board relaxes Apaar ID rule, relief for parents, teachers

Indore: In a major relief for parents and schoolteachers across the state, Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) decided to relax the mandatory requirement of Apaar ID for Class 9–12 examination applications in 2025–26 academic session. The Apaar ID, a unique identification number for each student, became a source of stress in recent months. To generate it, the names and addresses of students' parents had to match exactly in both Aadhaar and Samagra databases. Even a minor spelling error meant parents spent hours in long queues at Aadhaar centres or visited municipal corporation zones for Samagra corrections. Teachers were also under pressure to meet strict deadlines for collecting data, often diverting attention from academic work. "Parents were spending days just to correct a single digit or letter in records. The relaxation means we can now focus on teaching rather than paperwork," said Ramesh Arya, a govt school teacher from Indore. The order, issued recently, states that Apaar ID will no longer be mandatory while filling exam forms this year. Instead, education department will organise correction camps at cluster and block levels in the coming months. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas Prices In Dubai Might Be More Affordable Than You Think Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Undo These camps will allow parents to update Aadhaar and Samagra records without the pressure of looming exam deadlines. Sunita Verma, a parent from Rajendra Nagar, welcomed the decision. "We were constantly worried that our children's exam forms might be rejected. Now, we can complete corrections at a relaxed pace and let our children focus on studies." MPBSE officials said the move will ensure that procedural issues do not hinder students' education. "We recognised the challenges being faced and decided to address them proactively," MPBSE spokesperson, Bhupesh Gupta said. The decision is will ease strain on schools and save parents from repeated visits to govt offices. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). City schools begin generating Apaar IDs

1 2 Ranchi: Following the Central Board of Secondary Education 's (CBSE) directive making Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (Apaar) ID mandatory for all students appearing in the 2025–26 board examinations, schools have begun a series of measures to ensure complete compliance and avoid any disruption during the examinations. Students without Apaar ID will not be allowed to appear for the examination, and their names will not be included in the list of candidates (LOC) submitted to the board. Schools have been directed to include only those Class IX and Class XI students in the LOC who are registered and have an active Apaar ID. The Apaar ID is a unique 12-digit identifier under the 'One Nation, One Student ID' initiative, providing students across India with a unified digital identity. It serves as a lifelong, secure platform to store, manage, and access all academic records and achievements in one place. Many schools have set up dedicated help desks and on-campus registration drives to assist students and parents in generating Apaar IDs. Required documents such as Aadhaar card, birth certificate, and previous academic records are being collected in advance to avoid last-minute delays. "Most of our students already have their IDs. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Colombia: New Senior Apartments (Prices May Surprise You) Senior Apartments | Search Ads Search Now Undo With one unique ID, learning details can be accessed from anywhere, making the education system more robust," said Sumit Kaur, principal of Gurunanak Higher Secondary School. To meet the CBSE requirement of accurate data entry, schools are cross-checking student name, date of birth, gender, category, and guardian's name before uploading details on the LOC portal. Several schools have conducted orientation sessions to explain the significance of the Apaar ID, highlighting its role in preventing fake documents, centralizing student credits, and ensuring transparency in examination and result processes. "We have started individual follow-ups with students who have not yet completed the process. Parents have been advised to provide documents promptly so that the examination process can proceed smoothly," said Tapas Ghosh, principal of DAV Public School, Pundag. The ongoing academic session will see three major examinations, including optional tests alongside the main board exams. From 2026, Class X examination will be conducted twice. Medical aspirants in Mumbai face registration issues due to Apaar ID confusion

Mumbai: What was supposed to be a routine day of registration turned into a digital nightmare for medical aspirants, as the state's revamped admission form left most stranded at the starting line. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The confusion revolved around the Apaar ID — a unique student identifier that the registration rules called "optional", but the form itself treated as mandatory. Students who attempted to proceed without it found themselves caught in a loop, with the 'Next' button greyed out and a technical error bouncing them back to the beginning. By evening, many were still grappling with unfinished forms and rising anxiety. "The brochure says it's optional. The form says otherwise," said Sudha Shenoy, a parent representative who spent much of the day fielding distress calls. "Even the central admission process by the Medical Counselling Committee for admissions to the all-India quota and to deemed universities has not made Apaar compulsory." As panic spread, many wondered how they could get an Apaar ID. Others waited in vain, hoping the glitch would be resolved. But the system had more in store. For some, the document upload link refused to work; for others, the site insisted they'd already registered. One group couldn't even select their course preferences without the system crashing. CET Cell officials said they helped students sort many issues and the helpline would be active to onboard students.

Surname last: Gujarat schools to adopt new name format

Ahmedabad: Starting from June 2025, the new academic year, schools will record surnames of students at the end of their names in official documents such as the general register (GR) and school leaving certificate (LC) to align with the format. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The Gujarat state education department has issued a circular in this regard. The change aims to resolve issues faced during the generation of Apaar IDs due to mismatch between the names on Aadhaar cards and school records. Until now, schools in Gujarat wrote the surname first, followed by the student's name and father's name in the GR and LC. However, in documents such as the Aadhaar card, the student's first name appears first and the surname last. This inconsistency created technical difficulties while mapping student data for the Apaar ID system. The circular, issued by the state project director of Samagra Shiksha, instructs all govt primary and secondary schools to adopt the new format when entering names in GRs and issuing LCs. In the updated format, students' names will be recorded as: first name, father's name and surname. This move is expected to streamline the process of Apaar ID creation, ensure uniformity across key documents and prevent administrative complications during school transfers or govt data verification. The education department has urged schools to implement change from the upcoming academic session to maintain consistency with national identity documentation standards.
