Apoorva Mukhija's New Controversial Comment: 'Proud Of Women Who Monetise Their Sexuality'
Last Updated: This comes months after Apoorva Mukhija also faced legal troubles and immense backlash after the India's Got Latent controversy. YouTuber and content creator Apoorva Mukhija often makes headlines for her controversial remarks. Once again, she has grabbed everyone's attention for all the wrong reasons. In a recent interview, The Rebel Kid talked about women who 'monetise their sexuality" and stated that she is proud of them. 'I think women who can monetise their sexuality are insane. Good for you, girlypops, I am proud of y'all," Apoorva told Zoom and then added, 'If men are stupid enough to see it, pay for it, then do it. I love it! They are the views." However, soon after Apoorva's video went viral, netizens reacted to it and slammed the content creator. 'Basically, she's okay with her being sexualised for money," one of the users wrote. 'Just a pure example of being characterless," added another. 'Biggest hypocrites in our country are the so-called social media influencers. Har baat par pe bakwas karva lo bas," a third comment read. Basically, she's okay with her being sexualised for money. — Squint Neon (@TheSquind) July 9, 2025 This comes months after Apoorva Mukhija also faced legal troubles and immense backlash for Ranveer Allahbadia's comments on India's Got Latent. Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, during an episode of the show, allegedly asked a contestant an inappropriate question involving body parts and proposed an indecent act in exchange for Rs 2 crore. The outrage peaked when he posed a controversial question: 'Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?" Following the incident, several complaints were filed against Apoorva and other members of the panel. Apoorva, who enjoys a following of 3 million on Instagram, had also deleted all her posts from the platform. The Rebel Kid made her comeback on Instagram later when she revealed that she even faced sleep paralysis after the controversy because she was being threatened. Apoorva Mukhija was recently also seen in The Traitors. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Rebel Kid Apoorva Mukhija: From B.Tech classrooms to brand deals
For many young professionals navigating the early stages of a corporate career, the path is mapped by stability, salaries and structured growth. For Apoorva Mukhija, however, that roadmap began to feel limiting. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Better known online as Rebel Kid, she has emerged as a voice of Gen Z, blending sharp social commentary with humour. But before she became a viral creator or built a community through her YouTube and Instagram reels, Apoorva was an engineering student turned Dell employee, working in a cubicle like thousands of others. Her pivot from the tech industry to full-time content creation has drawn both curiosity and admiration, especially among young Indians who find themselves at the crossroads of passion and predictability. Apoorva's story is not one of overnight fame. It is about decisions made quietly, a growing discomfort with the traditional trajectory, and an urge to speak in her own voice. From Ghaziabad to Jaipur: Apoorva's journey shaped by academics Apoorva's academic journey began in Ghaziabad, where she studied until 2012, before moving to the Convent of Jesus and Mary in New Delhi for her middle and early high school years. She then completed her Class 11 and 12 from Delhi Public School, Panipat. Her higher education took her to Manipal University Jaipur, where she pursued a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from 2018 to 2022. The curriculum focused on technical rigour, programming, and emerging technologies, but Apoorva's interests were already diverging. While her peers prepared for placements, she was quietly experimenting with content creation, refining her comic timing and sharpening her perspective. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Her choice of engineering, like many others from Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities, was shaped by collective conditioning. In a now-viral podcast clip, she jokes about ending up in engineering simply because 'log kar rahe the' (everyone else was doing it). The line lands as comedy but speaks to a larger generational theme of conformity versus calling. Apoorva's short stint at Dell and the decision to pivot After graduation, Apoorva secured a role at Dell Technologies as a Sales Engineer Analyst. The role was part of Dell's data protection division, focused on infrastructure solutions for North America. The job came with the promise of global exposure and professional growth. Yet, what makes her story stand out is that she chose to step away from it. In interviews and public statements, Apoorva has noted that the decision to leave was not driven by burnout or failure but by clarity. She had already been creating content for a few years, balancing her growing digital presence with corporate responsibilities. Slowly, her comedy sketches and rants began to gain traction. Her alter ego, Rebel Kid, was born out of this dual life. What began as playful observations on everyday absurdities quickly turned into pointed reflections on societal expectations, ambition, and digital culture. What makes Apoorva's leap resonate What differentiates Apoorva's transition is the deliberateness behind it. Unlike creators who stumbled into virality or turned to content due to layoffs, she made a conscious choice to rewrite her path. She speaks about "finding her voice" as a creator, one that does not echo what algorithms reward but what feels authentic to her. Her brand associations reflect the same ethos. With over 4 million followers on Instagram, she has collaborated with over 150 brands including Netflix, Spotify, Amazon, Meta, and Disney+ Hotstar. Yet, her content remains sharply self-aware and refuses to rely on easy tropes or mimic trends without context. Whether it's a spoof on influencer culture or a monologue about performance pressure, the tone is consistently reflective. The Rebel Kid beyond social media In recent months, Apoorva has widened her creative canvas. One of the more notable highlights has been her appearance on Traitors, a high-profile Amazon Prime India show that introduced her to a wider audience beyond Instagram and YouTube. Her performance on the show added a new dimension to her public persona, revealing a strategic thinker beneath the punchlines. The show allowed viewers to see her in a new light, one that combined emotional intelligence with quiet determination. She was also part of the global launch of Instagram's 'Born on Instagram' initiative, a platform designed to mentor and promote creators from diverse backgrounds. Apoorva's participation in such programmes underlines her increasing role not just as a performer but as a spokesperson for a new creator archetype. One that is informed, intentional and impact-driven. Education as foundation, not endpoint Apoorva's journey challenges conventional narratives around education and success. A degree followed by a well-paying job at a multinational is still considered a gold standard in Indian middle-class households. But for creators like her, the yardstick has shifted. Success today is increasingly being measured not by designations or CTCs but by autonomy, creative freedom and the ability to shape conversations. Her engineering education gave her problem-solving skills and structured thinking. Her internships at platforms like MX TakaTak, DineOut and Dell added exposure to digital ecosystems. But it is her voice, as Rebel Kid, that has brought it all together into a cohesive, meaningful career. The Rebel Kid as a modern archetype The moniker "Rebel Kid" is not just branding, it encapsulates a mindset. Questioning without arrogance, laughing without cruelty, building without a blueprint. Her content avoids cynicism and instead leans into the awkwardness, hopes and ironies of young adulthood. She has been open about the unglamorous side of being a creator: burnout, relevance anxiety, and the constant pressure to innovate. This transparency, paired with her wit and restraint, is what makes her relatable to a generation caught between digital expression and real-world expectation. In many ways, Apoorva Mukhija's leap from Dell to full-time creation reflects a deeper truth. That education is not wasted if it is redirected and success is not always a straight line. And that sometimes, the bravest decision is to stop following the script and begin writing your own.

After ' The Traitors ' finale, Uorfi Javed is clear about one thing - she has no plans to patch up with fellow contestant Apoorva Mukhija . While the two shared a brief 'behen' pact on the reality show, it quickly dissolved after a public showdown spilt onto YouTube videos and social media debates. Apoorva claimed Uorfi made her feel like an impostor, and hinted that she wouldn't have reacted the same way if it had been someone like Maheep Kapoor . Uorfi strongly disagreed and said, 'If Maheep misbehaved, I would've told her to stay in her place too. I'm impulsive, I say whatever comes to my mind in anger. Uorfi Javed Will NEVER Pick Up Apoorva Mukhija's Calls: ‘Nothing To Be Fixed There'
Last Updated: Uorfi Javed calls Apoorva Mukhija an 'acquaintance' and says that she always thought of her as a 'chilled out person'. She also says that there's no room for friendship with her. The Traitors: Uorfi Javed and Apoorva Mukhija's public showdown in The Traitors became the topic of conversation on social media. The former also revealed receiving hate messages and threats from The Rebel Kid's fans. At the beginning of the reality series, the duo made a 'behen code' pact. However, all hell broke loose when Uorfi noticed Apoorva crying and on being asked why, the latter snapped. In a YouTube video, Apoorva stated that off-camera, Uorfi lashed out at her, making her worst fears come true. She accused Uorfi of making her feel like an imposter and later in an interview pointed out that had been she been someone of the stature of Maheep Kapoor, Uorfi would never retaliate. Reacting to her words, Uorfi exclusively tells News18 Showsha, 'If Maheep would've misbehaved with me or had a showdown with me, I would've told her too ki aukaat mein raho apni. I wouldn't have kept quiet. I'm very impulsive. Mere muh se kuch bhi nikal jaata hai gusse mein. Aisa nahi hai ki maine uska level dekh ke yeh sab kuch bola." While Uorfi states that she doesn't harbour any animosity against Apoorva, she vehemently expresses that there's no room for friendship between the two. 'I don't think I'll ever pick up the phone on her. I know that she also will never call me. There are so many people in the world. Woh mujhe hi kyun call karegi? There's nothing to be fixed there. Only those relationships can be fixed where there's history. It's not like there was a background of friendship between me and her," she remarks. Uorfi further continues, 'She was never my friend. I knew her as an acquaintance. We had met before The Traitors. She had come for the premiere of my show, Follow Kar Lo Yaar. We did speak a few times. I always thought that she was a chilled-out person. But show mein aake humaari baat nahi bani. Apoorva and I had a fight and it was she who had started misbehaving with me. In reaction, I ended up telling her a lot of things, which may have crossed the line." And now that The Traitors is over, she would like to move on. 'Sometimes two people don't get along and that's okay. You don't have to be bitter about it. Aisa nahi hai ki meri koi bahot badi dushmani hai uske saath. She's too young and main usse bahot badi hoon. Whatever happened in the reality show happened. It's okay. There's no friendship there but there's no enmity from my end either. All love from me to her," exclaims the Big Boss OTT star. Reacting to Jasmine Bhasin's claims that she was shocked with how the Gen-Z crowd of Apoorva and Sufi Motiwala behaved on The Traitors, Uorfi says, 'Sabka apna apna hai. Every person is different. When you're young, there's a fire in your belly and you tend to lash out people if they tell something about you that doesn't sit right. Maine bhi apne time pe kiya hai yeh sab. I've fought, I've said things but I'm done now." First Published:
