Apple watch comes to the rescue as man faces breathing trouble
How Apple watch's Fall Detection and SOS work How to set up the Emergency and health features on Apple watch In a long list of health scares averted by the Apple Watch, we now have a new one to add. A Reddit user named Taylor recently shared a life-saving moment where his Apple Watch came to the rescue during a severe breathing Taylor recounts, he was suddenly hit with intense shortness of breath, causing him to black out and fall face-down on the pavement. At that critical moment, the Apple Watch's fall detection feature kicked in, sensing the fall and lack of movement. It immediately contacted emergency services, ensuring help arrived just in shared his experience in a Reddit post, explaining that he had been dealing with a cold and cough, initially brushing it off as just seasonal or possibly even COVID-19 symptoms. 'I thought it was just a lingering cold or some strange COVID symptoms—mostly shortness of breath,' he wrote. However, what started as an ordinary day soon took a dangerous turn. 'Nothing unusual until one evening after work.'While walking through a nearly empty parking lot, Taylor suddenly felt dizzy and lightheaded before losing consciousness. 'I barely made it to the back of my car before I blacked out. The next thing I know, I'm waking up, face-down on the pavement, and my Apple Watch is buzzing, flashing SOS,' he watch's fall detection feature kicked in, automatically dialing Emergency SOS. In his disoriented state, Taylor accidentally stopped the call, but by that time, emergency services had already been alerted. 'I mistakenly ended the call (don't do what I did), but thankfully, 911 called me back right away. I was able to tell them what happened and that I needed help,' he was later rushed to the emergency room, where doctors discovered multiple blood clots in his lungs, one of which was blocking oxygen to his heart. 'The ER doctor told me that if help hadn't arrived so quickly, I had about a 50/50 chance of not making it,' he incident highlights just how crucial health and emergency features in wearables, especially the Apple Watch, have become—evolving from helpful tools to potential life-savers. With features like satellite calling, heart rate alerts, and SOS, the Apple Watch has integrated powerful emergency functionalities over the years. In this case, it was the Fall Detection and Emergency SOS capabilities that came to the rescue, detecting Taylor's hard fall and automatically connecting him with emergency Fall Detection feature uses advanced sensors and motion algorithms, like the accelerometer and gyroscope, to monitor your movement. If a user experiences a hard fall, the watch triggers an alarm and displays an alert. If the user remains unresponsive for about a minute, it automatically calls emergency services and shares their Emergency SOS function allows users to quickly contact emergency services by pressing and holding the side button on the watch. If configured, it also sends a message to the user's emergency contacts with their location. As Apple explains, 'When the call ends, your Apple Watch will send your emergency contacts a text message with your current location, unless you choose to cancel.'In Taylor's case, once the Emergency SOS was triggered, his wife—who was 35 miles away—received an alert, knowing exactly where he was in real time. 'She knew something was wrong and knew exactly where I was,' Taylor ensure these features are enabled:- Turn on Fall Detection: Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, go to Emergency SOS, and toggle Fall Detection on. Charlie Brooker: 'Black Mirror could just run and run'
It's only been a couple of years since the last series of Charlie Brooker's dystopian Netflix show Black Mirror landed. But we're now living in an unpredictable world and a lot can happen in a short space of for its often savvy and disturbing takes on humanity and our relationship with technology, Black Mirror is back for a seventh series at a time when the pace of change in both politics and tech has left many of us - including lawmakers - struggling to keep 2011, when the first episode aired, Siri was the new kid on the block and the iPhone 4S had just been launched. Now we have Meta AI embedded in WhatsApp and we're on series 10 of the Apple watch. Since then, Black Mirror has taken us from creepy memory devices, phone implants and robotic bees to actors-turned-werewolves. And everything in is in buoyant mood as, he tells the BBC there appears to be little danger of him running out of ideas anytime soon, when asked if Black Mirror could go on forever."Hopefully [it will run and run]. Selfishly, it's a fun job," he says. "Technology is developing in the real world very quickly. "That means there are more sources of inspiration, and... the viewer is experiencing more [technological] things in their everyday life."We can do stories that I wouldn't have thought of 10 years ago, and also, you don't need to explain some of the concepts to people because they've got it in their phone." The Crown and Deadpool & Wolverine actor Emma Corrin, who stars in one of this season's episodes, adds: "It's much closer to home. People have access to stuff like AI which is terrifying so then it's more confronting and serves as a better warning."Brooker jokes: "So you're saying it should go on forever?" "Yes, it should go on forever," Corrin adds: "I'll find out when it stops if I drop dead or people stop watching."Corrin appears in an episode titled Hotel Reverie, alongside Issa Rae. The pair both play A-listers appearing in a remake of a vintage Hollywood classic. With a twist, of plays screen siren Dorothy Chambers, and reflects: "I really enjoyed playing in a 1940s movie star."I just like the voice and the mannerisms and the way they hold themselves, and the style of acting is so ridiculous, larger than life and tongue in cheek, and yet packed with emotion at the same time." Without giving too much away, AI - the subject of much debate in the creative industries - rears its head in the says they don't "feel great" about its potential impact on their profession."Obviously, I think it's scary, but it's also a massive conversation, right? There are aspects of it that are terrifying to me as an artist. I love the creative process. I love that this art is born out of being in a room with people and things coming from the depths of someone's human experience or imagination. And I really don't think we'll lose that, or I hope not. "And I think there are also aspects of AI I probably don't understand, and that could be used as tools for good. It's about everyone being able to understand them and to use them correctly, and them being in the right hands."Brooker agrees: "Quite rightly, when Andy Serkis played Gollum [in the Lord of the Rings trilogy], everyone's amazed by that, but what you're amazed by is the human, you're seeing a human performance shining through."I can totally see the value of AI as a tool for creative people. The point at which it worries me is if you remove the people bit from that equation, or you're just hoovering up their work and regurgitating it, and they're not being paid." Brooker also returns to another favourite tech theme, which he's used as a jumping off point for several Black Mirror episodes over the previous six series. The world of the interactive standalone Black Mirror film Bandersnatch, where Asim Chaudhry and Will Poulter played a games company boss and a genius developer? The pair are now reprising their roles from the 2018 movie in a new series seven episode called Plaything. Scottish actor Lewis Gribben, who is soon to star in the highly anticipated TV series Blade Runner 2099, plays 1990s games journalist and loner Cameron, who becomes obsessed with one particular game featuring little pixel creatures. (Brooker himself was a games journalist back in the day). Former Doctor Who Peter Capaldi also turns in a brilliantly disturbing performance as an older a big Black Mirror fan, Gribben hadn't seen Bandersnatch but says that coming to Plaything fresh actually aided his performance."I think it made it easier for me... but I was just intimidated. I was like 'Oh my god, it's Will Poulter who I've watched since I was seven years old acting in Son of Rambow. And Asim Chowdhury from People Just Do Nothing!"Gribben tells the BBC he's a bit of a gamer himself but has more of a handle on it than his Black Mirror character. "I'm playing the new Assassin's Creed Shadows at the minute," he says. "When you have a day off... I can spend a solid 10 hours [on it]. But I like to think most people game in moderation or just have bingeing game sessions. It's more like a relaxation thing."Josh Finan, who has starred in Baby Reindeer, The Responder and recently played Gerry Adams in Say Nothing, plays an acquaintance of Cameron who becomes unwittingly embroiled in his companion's distorted sense of reality. The pair will both star in the highly anticipated Amazon mini-series, Blade Runner 2099. Expected to drop later this year, the action takes place 50 years after 2017's Blade Runner 2049, a movie that also analyses the relationship between humans and isn't too worried about being replaced by robots though."I'm very optimistic. I don't think actors are going anywhere. Maybe I'm being naive [but] I don't think there's any danger of being replaced. What we do is too special." Black Mirror series seven can be seen on Netflix from Thursday 10 April.

Reviewers Have Basically Crowned These 37 Products As The Absolute Best
1. A 3-in-1 foldable magnetic wireless charging station perfect for at home or traveling, so you can charge your iPhone, Apple watch, and AirPods all at once, without wasting space on bulky chargers or dealing with tons of cords. One reviewer compares this under-$40 wonder to the almost-$150(!) Mophie charger and say it's just as good *and* more attractive! Promising review: " This is my new favorite travel gadget! Super compact and sleek, so far no issues with charging my iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, and performance remains consistent. This charger has eliminated at least two additional cords and I deeply appreciate not having to shuffle chargers around when packing for travel. The charging light has an on/off feature by the watch pad, so I'm able to keep it on the bedside table at night without a bright green light shining in my face. It's also hard to overlook when packing back up to leave a hotel, which might be the second most important feature! Overall a great value for the money and such a great tool for staying organized during travel." — Cassandra Get it from Amazon for $23.99+ (available in two colors). 2. A racerback bodysuit in a second skin–like fabric (called Smoke Cloud) reviewers compare to Skims and love for being buttery soft and *not* see-through. And once you fall in love with this sleeveless style, don't worry; it comes in tons of sleeve lengths and necklines! And btw, reviewers say the double lining in the torso is supportive, so they don't need to wear a bra. Promising review: "SKIMS WHO?! I am truly amazed by the quality of this bodysuit. They are so good that have purchased them in multiple colors! I own many items from Skims, so I was able to compare. These bodysuits are exact [lookalikes] for the Fits Everybody bodysuits, for a fraction of the price!!!! They even use the same materials/percentage of the FEC bodysuits. Stop looking, and grab these! Customer service is A1 btw!" — Cat Promising review: "I have purchased bodysuits before that claim to be like skims, but when I tried them the quality was really poor or cheap. I was really skeptical about trying these bodysuits, but it far exceeded my expectations. The quality is great; it's super stretchy and buttery soft. It definitely gives that Skims look for an affordable price." — Tiffany Johnson Get it from Amazon for $19.99+ (available in women's sizes XS–3X and 15 colors). It's also available in a long-sleeve style, and check out all the styles available in the Smoke Cloud fabric here. 3. The Owala Freesip, which might be coming out victorious in The Battle of the Best Insulated Bottle (looking at you, Stanley and Hydroflask!). Why, you ask? It has a built-in straw you can sip out of *and* a wide-mouth spout for tip-back drinking — all covered by an easy push-button lid to keep everything grime-free and leakproof. And like all insulated bottles, it's designed to keep cold things COLD for 24 hours. Aaaand it has a carry loop for easy toting! I myself am partial to the exceptionally leakproof Brumate Era for my at-home hydration, but I am very tempted by this lid situation to stay hydrated at park and beach hangs! Promising review: "This is THE water bottle you need! Stop looking for another water bottle!! This is everything you need! I've owned Camelback, Contigo, off-brand this is the GOAT!" — Austin Martin Promising review: "I will tell you that we own every brand of metal tumbler they make: Hydroflask, Stanley, Lululemon, Yeti and Owala. They all do their job and keep your drinks cold for the day. BUT I was shocked to see that my daughter's Owala that I filled on Friday was not only still cold but had ICE in it on Monday morning!! Owala for the win!!" — Loves to shop Get the 32-ounce size from Amazon for $32.99+ (also available in 16, 24, and 40-ounce sizes and 22 colors). 4. A *flippable* Belgian waffle maker, because flipped waffles = crispier outsides and fluffier, airier insides. YUM. And reviewers agree the ceramic nonstick plates are *truly* nonstick. Plus, it stores vertically, which means it saves space on your countertop or in your cabinets, too! Promising review:"Stop looking and buy this waffle maker. This is THE waffle make to buy. I love it. The waffles are a perfect thickness and come out crisp and brown every time. Every feature of this waffle maker is intuitive, easy to use, and functions the way it's supposed to. I love that you don't need to spray it with cooking spray, the nonstick coating works like a charm. Nothing has ever stuck to it. The timer is a very convenient feature and easy to use. I've already used it to cook regular waffles, gluten free waffles, savory waffles (cheddar and bacon), Thanksgiving stuffing waffles, mashed potato waffles. You name it, this thing can turn it into a waffle. I leave it out on my counter all the time, and its stand-up feature ensures that it doesn't take up a lot of space. It's a bit difficult to clean if the waffle batter gets stuck in the grooves running around the outside or on the black handles, but this is a small issue with a wonderful machine." — Brian M. Get it from Amazon for $59.99. 5. A bottle of Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo formulated with 1% ketoconazole that doesn't just banish annoying flakes, but actually works to kill the fungus that causes dandruff. Got rid of my dandruff long time problem in a week. You see amazing results the first time you use this." — Carlos Montalva Promising review:"This fixed my dandruff almost immediately. I have tried different dandruff shampoos and hair care routines for YEARS without any success. I've used cleansing shampoos and hair oils, minimized any heat used on my hair, changed my diet, switched up shampoos frequently, used a scalp scrubbing tool, and tried going multiple days without washing my yet, I still struggled with dandruff and itchy scalp. The itching was unbearable. I decided to give Nizoral a try as a last-ditch effort, and my god, it has completely CHANGED my life. I am no longer itchy and I have virtually zero flakes still left on my hair. I wash my hair every 2-3 days and do not struggle with the same issues I used to. The scent is fine for me — it's a "clean" scent, so I don't mind it. I did not notice any drying of my hair. I used it every wash for a few weeks (the bottle says eight weeks), and now I just use it as needed. Probably every 5-6 washes. I hope you have as much success as I did with this product!" — Jenn Get it from Amazon for $15.88. 6. As someone with sensitive skin, this dreamy overnight moisturizer is an absolute game changer!" — Brooke Promising review:"Stop looking; here it is! It folds up thin and compact, and when you're ready to use, just wrap it around your neck — underneath the soft fleece is an internal support structure designed to keep your head in a comfy position for sleeping upright. Amazon Promising review: "Stop looking — get this one. Love this pillow. I've had others, but this one is the most comfortable and portable. And thong lovers say they are just as good or better than brands like Skims and Victoria's Secret. Promising review: "Ok, I don't write many reviews, but these are worth it. I read the other reviews before purchasing, and they're all correct. I have ZERO underwear lines. It's a good sized gusset (and made out of cotton), and doesn't end up as uncomfortable floss. They stay in place and don't move around. I have nothing bad to say about these. Stop looking and buy these." — Emma Promising review: "Absolutely blown away! I use to be a Victoria Secret panty shopper, mainly due to their sales. The quality of VS underwear makes it so they never last past six months, if that. Not to mention the crotch section of all their underwear types are unrealistically narrow. I bought these as my everyday underwear and couldn't be happier. They are so comfortable, I hardly can tell I'm wearing them. The crotch part is a suitable size and the back doesn't ride up or suffocate my back side. They sit perfectly on my hip bone and don't need adjusting throughout the day. The material is soft and the quality is fantastic. Don't hesitate, buy these!" — Miranda Get a set of six from Amazon for $24.98 (available in women's sizes XS–4X and nine color packs). 10. I actually put these shoes on when my feet hurt walking barefoot around our hardwood floor all day. I ordered two pairs of these and was not disappointed. I wear these to all of my weddings as a wedding photographer. (Best business investment ever). I wear these everywhere I go. If I could wear them to bed, I would. If you thought Crocs were comfy... try these. They also are adorable. I ordered my regular size and a size smaller and found that they do tend to run a little larger. Not literally. I originally got this fan for my kid so she could cool down on warmer nights and help her sleep. The only problem was.. it works so well, everyone keeps wanting to take it away (even me!) We've been using this model in almost non-stop operation for months now, changing the settings, using the remote, etc. This thing works like a champ, even after we've accidentally knocked it over a bunch of times. Stop looking around and get this one." — Andrew Promising review: "I love to sleep in a freezing cold room, but I hate the power bill that goes along with cooling an entire house. This unit was the best solution. It keeps the room frigid, and I sleep like a rock. It barely increases my bill and really improves my sleep." — Mat Get it from Amazon for $349+ (available in 8,000 and 10,000, and 14,000 BTU versions, plus a version that also functions as a heater). 15. If you have worn a retainer for over 10 years, like I have, you know that you need something strong to remove all the plaque and crud. I found these, and they keep my retainer clean and sparkling. The ChomChom, a pet hair-removing roller with a patented brush design (and *no* adhesive strips) to rid your lovely black sofa of all your furry friend's shedding in a quick roll — so you can get back to cuddling together. Promising review:"I have bought SO MANY pet hair removal products and time after time I've been disappointed. Until now! This thing is amazing! Their claim to be the "world's best" is no lie. Do yourself a looking and press "buy now." **Note for the company: in future designs, it would be helpful if the button (to open the hair compartment) was off to the side or somewhere other than the top. My fingers regularly accidentally push the button (opening the door) while using it. But it's still the BEST!" — Holly Wofford Get it from Amazon for $24.99 (available in two colors). 24. And a *self-cleaning* grooming brush to easily and effectively remove excess hair from your pet (so it doesn't end up all over you and your home). What makes it self-cleaning, you ask? Simply push a button on the side, and the bristles retract so you can sweep away all the pet hair you just accumulated right into the trash. Lots of reviewer pets love being brushed by it too! Promising review: "Stop looking elsewhere and get this brush!! I have a long-haired cat and a dog, and this brush works wonders on both. So easy to use, hold, and clean. This has made my life so much easier and cleaner." — Megan Promising review: "Best thing since sliced bread. Our GSD sheds like mad. We call them "clouds" as they float down the floor as he walks by and they fall off. Since buying this no more clouds of hair. He LOVES being brushed and every time we go on the porch he will back you up into the chair to brush him. It's amazing how much hair this little brush removes and how easy it is to clean the brush. Well worth every penny." — DiamondLadyFL Get it from Amazon for $12.99+ (available in two colors and a variety of styles). 25. It's formulated with orange oil, so it has a lovely citrus scent that smells great in the short term while (as the name implies) eliminating bad odors once and for all. Just shake the bottle, spray it on, and let it dry completely. BOOM, you're done. Promising review:"Stop looking at other products; this is the only one you need! This stuff is great; it smells great and really works. I have not just used it for any cat situations, but I've even used it in my car after my 3-year-old got sick and painted the interior of my car with an unwanted substance! I used this product and didn't have to have it professionally cleaned. The scent is strong, but I don't mind it, and it is 100x better than the other similar artificial-smelling sprays I've used in the past. Will use again!!" — Salvatore Get it from Amazon for $17.96 (available in two scents). Angry Orange is a small biz that was founded in 2014. They provide pet-related household cleaning supplies like stain removers, mops, and more. 27. A set of internet-famous Mellanni sheets made of a super-soft and moisture-wicking microfiber fabric over 250,000 5-star reviewers (wow!) love for being cozy and sleeping surprisingly cool — at an unbeatable price! You just might want to ditch your expensive, name-brand sheets for these babies after the first night — lots of reviewers have. Promising review: "Stop looking elsewhere. These are the ones! I loved my old sheets and had to buy new ones after years of wear and tear. I had bought them at a local house wares store that typically doesn't sell sheets but got a bunch in randomly. Unfortunately, when I needed new ones, they didn't have them anymore, and my tags were too worn to see the brand. I did a lot of internet research to make sure my replacements were just as good and came across these. They even had the color I wanted (dark purple) so obviously I ordered them. When I finally got them, my heart skipped a beat. They're the same sheets!!! I live in a tiny apartment and spend an abnormal time hanging out in my bed. I 've made it into the most cozy, comfortable space that has actually turned me into an alarm snoozer over the years. These sheets are a big part of that." — Christina Lepley Promising review: "Stop looking! Cannot beat this quality!! I was nervous about quality (you get what you pay for), but these sheets do not disappoint. The color is as pictured, and the quality is amazing. They are super soft, fit my bed very well (with a little room to spare, no slipping edges here), and shipped as promised. If I could give these more stars I would!!" — Crystal Roberts Get a set of queen sheets from Amazon for $34.97+ (available in sizes twin–California king, plus sheet sets with deep pockets for taller mattresses and 45 colors and patterns). 28. A set of Rubbermaid Brilliance containers to streamline your food storage cabinet once and for all. Once you try them, you'll be ruined for your old containers. They're completely clear, shatter- and stain-resistant (no lingering tomato sauce stains!), leakproof, and have built-in venting lids to make mess-free reheating (no microwave splatters!) a breeze. Amazon And they're microwave-, freezer-, and dishwasher-safe, too. These are my very favorite containers — I just got the 22-piece set to fully stock my kitchen! Promising review:"Stop looking and buy these containers! Stop your search and go for it. Buy one of these and you'll be back for more. I bought a small set with 4 different sizes a month or so ago for pantry storage (flour, sugar, rice, etc) and they were perfect. Since then I have bought more for additional pantry storage and for storing food and leftovers. I've started storing my strawberries & fruit in them and they keep fresh for so much longer! The openings are large enough that I can reach in with a measuring cup when needed so that is very convenient when baking. They also stack nicely in my pantry. I do wish they stored better when not in use. They don't fit inside each other because they are square and not tapered so they take up a lot of storage space when not in use. They are nice and clear, so it is easy to see the contents. The locking tabs feel solid and secure. The rubber seal helps create a great seal but I do make sure to dry them thoroughly when washing because they can retain some moisture. So glad I found these, they are a great addition to my pantry :) Things that make you happy as a darn grown-up." — Rosaleen Promising review: "Stop reading the reviews. Just stop right now. Don't even finish this review. Scroll up, don't even add to your cart. Just click buy now. Sleek, sturdy, spill-proof, doesn't look cheap. I'll never go back. I'm getting rid of all Tupperware and stocking my cabinet with these bad boys. Game. Changers." —Erin Allen Get a set of five containers from Amazon for $22.98 (also available in smaller and larger sets). And we stan these because we use them! For more, read our full Rubbermaid Brilliance Containers review. 29. A TikTok-approved, compact Levoit air purifier with a true HEPA filter because dust, pollen, and pet dander can get you DOWN (and sneezy) — and make it look like you haven't cleaned in ages, when you totally dusted yesterday. This'll suck so much out of the air, you just might find yourself dusting (and sneezing) less often! And it can help your home smell fresher, too. Promising review: "We retired to the Southwest US, which is just a huge dust bowl. I didn't want to be breathing in the dust, and I absolutely hate to dust furniture. So I researched air purifiers and chose this model. In order to filter dust, it seems I needed a HEPA filter, which this purifier uses. While not washable, they are able to be vacuumed, which I do about once a week so they last longer. Overall, the price for the purifier and the filters was less for this model than others I researched. I bought the large model of this purifier for the main room of our 1200 sf Townhouse and it works really well. I only have to dust every 3-4 weeks, which suits me just fine. I think the purifier is about as loud as a white noise machine, so not very loud in my opinion. My husband, who wears hearing aids, finds it noisier than I do. I bought 2 of the smaller version of this same purifier for the 2 bedrooms. While they are just a smaller version of this machine they don't work nearly as well. It gets dusty in those rooms within days. I wish I had purchased the larger version for those rooms too. I've had all 3 purifiers going 24/7 for 4 months now and the filters are nowhere near the point where they need changing, again noting that I vacuum them weekly. So all in all these purifiers have been very economical to use." — SuesZoo Promising review: "Stop looking, buy this! I bought a higher-end unit for my office and this one for my home. Literally no difference! Buy the cheaper one!" — Keith Get a purifier that can cover up to 1095 st. ft spaces from Amazon for $99.99+ (available in black and white, plus a WiFi-enabled version). You can also get a mini size for up to 240 sq ft. for $49.99. 30. The Pink Stuff, a TikTok- (and reviewer-) beloved cleaning product that miracles! Name your mess, and this mildly abrasive paste will take care of business — including but not limited to bathroom tiles, sinks, stove tops, painted walls, grills, and outdoor furniture. How effective? Well, it's commonly likened to the Magic Eraser in paste form! Promising review: "Everyone: stop looking and buy this RIGHT NOW! I swear I scrubbed this tub with everything I could think of. I even got one of those drill brushes which did help, but this residue was still left. I got this in the mail 17 minutes ago, and I'm a lifelong customer now. After a few seconds of scrubbing, it was like new! I mean look at that shine in the picture. Must buy it!" — Kasey Magee Promising review:"Are you like me, searching reviews because all your previous cleaning attempts had failed? Well, look no further! I very rarely feel the need to review something but this is the best thing since sliced bread! Forget the Magic Eraser — it's trash. Things that have been stuck to my walls, come off with ease. And unlike harsh abrasive products, it did not chip the paint off! Pro tip, rinse your washcloth in a bowl and you can use it to wipe down baseboards and kitchen grease with ease (don't ask me how long since I've cleaned my stove top vent… 3 years.)." — Meagan McAuley Get it from Amazon for $5.97. 31. A set of snazzy-looking and surprisingly affordable wireless Bluetooth earbuds so you can jam out to your favorite tunes, nod thoughtfully at your go-to podcast, or simply call into all your Zoom meetings with great sound clarity (and no background noise). They also come with a couple of sizes of buds so you can ensure a secure — and comfortable — fit. Aaaaand for the fancy pants you are, they come with a wireless charging case and provide up to 14(!!) hours of charge, and four-plus hours of continuous playback. (with the earbuds able to play for four-plus hours with each full charge). Did I mention they're are also sweatproof and waterproof?? With over 230,000 5-star reviews, they are mega popular, too. Promising review: "Great sound, fit, and quality at a fraction of the price. I finally broke down and decided to get a pair of wireless Bluetooth earbuds. I was overwhelmed by the seemingly endless choices on Amazon, but settled on the TOZO T10s after seeing so many 5-star reviews and the price (I even got them delivered a day earlier than expected). I walk a mile from the train station to my office and back every day and am very satisfied with this product. The sound is full and clear, with just enough bass to complement the other instruments rather than drown them out. The fit is excellent (I recommend taking the time to find the right tips before making any judgments), and the sound isolation is good enough that I can hear my music or podcasts clearly without being completely cut off from my surroundings. The fact that they are waterproof is a nice feature, which is why I purchased a pair for my fiancé (she uses them for her workouts and is quite happy with them as well). Pairing was a breeze, and the quality of the earbuds and charging case is top-notch. To anyone who is considering paying a premium for Bose, Sennheiser or any other "top" manufacturer: stop looking and buy the TOZO T10s. You won't regret it!" — Stumpy Get it from Amazon $25.99+ (available in five colors). 32. A set of bed bands that will keep your fitted sheets neatly tucked under your mattress, if that ~loose~, wrinkly feeling keeps you up at night (honestly same). Now you'll sleep more comfortably *and* be able to make your bed wayyyy faster in the morning. And as any self-proclaimed neat freak knows, making your bed is really the best way to start a productive day. Promising review:"STOP LOOKING FOR SHEET HOLDERS! THIS ONE REALLY WORKS! My son is a restless sleeper, and every morning his fitted sheet would be off the kidding! I think I have ordered and tried every device out there to try to keep his sheets on. NOTHING else worked till now!! Seriously, since I began using these 3 months ago, the sheets have never come off the bed. I can't believe it! Let me explain further. Under my son's fitted sheet, we have a separate feather bed topper. Somehow, my son managed (while sleeping) to have the feather bed topper come out from underneath the sides of the fitted sheets, but the sheets REMAINED ON THE BED! Unbelievable! These sheet holders are the BEST!" — PrazHm Get a set of four from Amazon for $13.99+ (available in four colors and two sizes). 33. A set of packing cubes to keep you from shelling out cash on checking a bag when you can't quit your over-packing ways. You can fit these (and the tons of clothes compressed inside) right in your carry-on, or make the very most of your checked bag! Then you can organize them by day, clothing type, ~segment of your trip~ (like city/beach/weather), etc. It comes with a laundry bag to separate your dirty clothes on your way back, and the cubes have mesh tops so you can see what's inside! Promising review: "Stop looking — buy these. Was able to pack more in my suitcases. Not sure what took me so long to buy these!" — Jimbo Promising review: "I bought these in the grey color for a long trip and absolutely love them - so much that I bought a second set for a gift! I was completely impressed by the quality of the material and the zipper. The material is thicker than others that I looked at in person. I also like that they have some mesh lining to let your clothes breathe. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I could fit in each one, far more than expected based on a video I watched. There was enough room for me to pack enough clothes for six weeks of traveling, covering all four seasons. These packing cubes kept my clothes organized, which is exactly what I wanted. The one thing I'd call out if you are the type of traveler to pack your bag to the maximum weight limit.. if using all 6 pieces, the total added weight was ~1.9 lbs." — MD Get the set of six pictured above from Amazon for $19.99+ (available in 24 colors and patterns). 34. And btw, a lot of reviewers like to use this with a gooseneck tablet holder, so they don't even need to hold their e-reader at all! Check out a TikTok of the remote page-turner in action. Promising review: "Life-changing. I hav e never ever in my entire life left a review for something I have bought online. For this, I had to make an exception. I can now lay cozily and just turn my pages with the remote and have the best days off. If you would love to be living your best, like order this already! Stop looking at the reviews! A lightweight, contoured sleeping mask that'll block every beam of light and never press down on your eyes, so you'll completely forget you're even wearing it. Promising review:"Stop looking; this is the one! I originally found this mask shopping on wonderful Amazon. However, my sister gifted it to me. This mask is extravagant; I never knew I needed it. It promotes sleep on a peaceful, restful level. When you have children, you can only read and watch commercials about such a thing. I sleep with it and wake up rested and relaxed. The band is comfortable and stays on all night, and the mask on my face feels like an enchanted pillow. Do not deprive yourself; embrace yourself. You can't regret such a purchase." — LadyNdShoe Get it from Amazon for $22.99+ (available in eight colors). 36. Promising review: "This item was highly recommended by my Young Living I LOVE IT. I was not expecting much with such a great price, but its a really awesome diffuser. I use it in my office, and it fills the space nicely. Love the color changes and the fact that I can leave it on pretty much all day. It's very attractive too; I love the wood bottom. If you are looking for a diffuser, STOP LOOKING... this is the one you should get :)" — Sarah Duke Promising review:"I love this thing! I bought it for my granddaughter, but now I use it all the time for myself. It is quiet, easy to use, and easy to clean. It Does not drench your room with water like many vaporizers. Rather, it expels a light mist of water and scent. I add some eucalyptus or peppermint drops to it, and the light scent and mist really help me sleep better. It's perfect! Great colors too!" — John Carson Promising review:"I started off by buying the same style curtains for my sliding glass door, it's where the sun hits in the afternoon and without running the ac it creates a sauna in my living room. Well let me tell you, I bought these more for keeping it cooler in the house in the summer as running the ac costs a lot of $$$ where I'm even setting thermostat to 72 we get a $700 electric bill. Is It Time to Trade My Rolex for a Smart Watch?
Back in the mists of 2015, I was, shockingly, an early adopter of the Apple watch. (This was when Apple still thought the smartwatch might be a fashion accessory.) Probably less shockingly, I was also an early un-adopter of the Apple watch. I hated the aesthetics of wearing a gadget on my wrist and discovered that it was alarmingly easy to get obsessed with, and distracted by, how many times you stood up in a day. So I know where you are coming from. Still, as smartwatches have evolved from those early, fruitless attempts to position themselves within the style universe and have become popular as fitness and wellness aids, their popularity has, understandably, grown. Now most of my friends, like yours, wear a fitness band or a smartwatch or an Oura ring, and there is a lot of discussion of not just steps but also sleep patterns, heart rates and blood oxygen levels. But the thing is, while their smartwatches may perform different tasks on their wrist than traditional watches, they are, in one way at least, exactly the same. As my colleague (and confirmed watch-o-phile) Jacob Bernstein said, 'All watches are in one way or another a flex.' That's as true for a Rolex as a Patek Philippe as a Swatch as an Apple watch. They are all part of the semiology of the wrist — which is to say, their elemental function is to signal to the world certain key attributes of the wearer. Like, for example, first stage achievement and aspiration (Rolex) or a certain unapologetic, in-your-face verve (Audemars Piguet) or the 'if you know you know' quiet luxury of the inner circle (Patek Philippe). Or, perhaps, a story about a relative who passed on the watch. Or, in the case of the smartwatch, the idea that you put your health and the acquisition of data over all of the above. Of course you have to factor in whether a timepiece is new or vintage, since each of those choices also says something about connections, connoisseurship and your need for gratification (delayed or immediate). And take into consideration the material involved. Steel has different associations than gold, which has different associations than leather. Just as with smartwatches, the choice of bands and whether you go with Hermès or stainless steel or plastic also makes a difference. But you get the idea. The point is, whatever style of watch you opt for, you are making a statement about your embrace of a certain value system and approach to the world, and that statement is there for all to see. Which may be why a lot of people have both a smartwatch and a classic watch (or, depending on their budgets and investment priorities, a whole watch wardrobe). And though there was a time when double watching was shaping up as something of a trend — at one point Prince William wore a classic watch on one wrist and a smartwatch on the other — that now seems more like a choose-the-watch-for-the-moment or a choose-the-watch-for-the-context sort of thing. Whatever watch you choose, however, the important thing is to be aware that when it comes to what it's telling, time is the least of the matter. Bushwalker's warning after freak accident left him 'unable to feel legs'
An experienced hiker is warning Aussies to take one key thing when venturing into the bush after a leisurely Sunday morning stroll ended with him submerged in water and unable to feel his legs, questioning whether he would be able to walk again. Robert Lang told Yahoo News he likes to escape the busyness of Sydney life by going for a walk near his North Shore home, often opting for the Lover's Jump trail walk in Turramurra. It's a pathway that snakes behind residential homes, and it's one he's taken many, many times before. However a weekly ritual turned to disaster after he strayed from the path recently. "I walk this trail every Sunday morning... there had been a lot of rain this day, and I could hear the rush of water below as I was walking above the creek... I sort of pushed through the bushes to see it, and as I was going down the slope, I guess because of the fresh rain, the ground gave way," he recalled. "I ended up sliding and rolling down the hill and fell into the creek fully submerged. My hip took most of the brunt, but I couldn't feel my legs." Panicked, the volunteer medic was able to pull himself out of the water with his arms and used his Apple watch to first notify his wife and then emergency services. Lang lay on the ground injured and alone for almost an hour as emergency services desperately tried to locate him. Despite his wife knowing the exact trail he always walks, and being a stone's throw away from houses, he was well hidden in the bush, and the location of his Apple watch was not being picked up. Out of pure luck, he wore his yellow waterproof jacket that day — and it was this that helped the rescue helicopter to finally locate him. "Then I could hear someone shouting, and so I shouted back. Within a minute or two suddenly someone was grabbing my hand and telling me that they had me and I was safe," Lang said. "It's indescribable to have someone say, 'Don't worry, I've got you'. Just the sheer humanity of it makes me choke up now." As rescuers began to pull him away from the rushing water, Lang regained faint sensation in his leg and was overcome with relief. Doctors later told him the impact of the fall likely caused shock to his nerve, causing it to go limp. Thankfully, he now has full function of his legs and has fully recovered. 😒 Camper calls for change to combat 'annoying' trend at national parks 🚮 25-year-old discovery in pristine Aussie national park sparks anger 🆘 The device that saved young fishermen drifting off Aussie coast Despite the bushwalk being somewhere Lang has visited countless times, he wishes he'd done a few things differently to increase his chances of being found quicker. "Think about how you're going to be located if there is an incident," he warned. "Take a personal locator beacon (PLB)... I would have taken one if I had one." He recommended staying on the trail, not going on a walk alone, letting somewhere know where you're going and wearing something bright. "Making sure you have a way to make yourself visible."
