Putin's general declares 'WW3 has started' and demands one million fresh troops
Major General Apti Alaudinov urged the Kremlin to carry out mass mobilisation of up to one million fresh troops following Israel's attack on Iran - as he claimed World War 3 is already underway One of Vladimir Putin's generals has declared World War 3 is already underway, citing rising global tensions following Israel 's recent attack on Iran. Major General Apti Alaudinov, a prominent figure in Russia 's military leadership, urged the Kremlin to carry out mass mobilisation of up to one million fresh troops following the attack, which he said has 'already taken on a new turn and a new momentum.' Alaudinov, 51, currently serves as the deputy chief of the Russian Armed Forces main military-political directorate, in charge of indoctrination and propaganda in the military machine, as well as commander of Akhmat special forces, based in his native Chechnya. 'We need to declare mobilisation,' he posted on Telegram. 'We need to prepare at least half a million people in advance. But realistically one million people.' He added: 'We need to call them up and start preparing them for the fact that the war has already begun, which we already know is happening - World War III. But it has already taken on a new turn and a new momentum. 'And so that no one dares to play with us the way they played with all the other countries, and now with Iran. Believe me, we all need to unite, unite, unite at all levels.' Alaudinov has been closely involved with Russia 's effort to win back territory controlled by Ukraine in Kursk region. He is also seen as a probable successor for sickly pro-Putin Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. Earlier today Alaudinov reposted a message from Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei demanding 'severe retribution' against Israel. He made clear with his mass mobilisation call that he felt able to publicly express his own view to Putin about the need for a giant call-up to break the stalemate in the war with Ukraine. Alaudinov's comments came after Israel attacked at least six military bases around Tehran including Parchin, residential homes at two highly secure complexes for military commanders - and multiple residential buildings around Tehran. Iranian officials called the strikes targeted assassinations. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel will face a 'severe punishment' over its attack on the country. Khamenei issued a statement carried by the state-run IRNA news agency. It confirmed that top military officials and scientists had been killed in the attack. Israel 'opened its wicked and blood-stained hand to a crime in our beloved country, revealing its malicious nature more than ever by striking residential centers,' Khamenei said.

Russia Begins Assault on Ukrainian-Occupied Town of Sudzha in Kursk Region
Russian forces have begun an assault on the town of Sudzha, the main population center in the Kursk region that was captured by Ukraine last year, a top Russian commander said on Tuesday. The advance puts Moscow on the verge of ending the first invasion of Russian territory since World War II. 'We have surrounded Sudzha from almost all sides,' Lt. Gen. Apti Alaudinov, a top Russian commander in Kursk, told Russian state television on Tuesday. Russia's recent rapid moves around Sudzha have erased a large share of the territorial gains made by Ukrainian forces during their surprise attack into western Russia in August. Kyiv had held on to territory in Kursk despite heavy casualties in the hope of using it as a bargaining chip in peace talks. Amid Ukraine's advance, 2,000 to 3,000 Russian civilians had taken refuge in Sudzha by February, according to Russian activists and Ukrainian officials. Their fate is unclear. By Tuesday afternoon, Ukrainian forces had retreated from the eastern side of town across the Psel River, Ian Matveev, an antiwar Russian military analyst, wrote on his Telegram channel. He cited videos posted on social media of Russian soldiers in the town. Deepstate, a Ukrainian group with ties to the Ukrainian Army that maps the battlefield, made a similar assessment on Tuesday. Mr. Matveev wrote that it remained unclear whether Ukrainian soldiers would try to mount a defense in the western side of Sudzha or continue retreating toward the Ukrainian border, a few miles west. Russian advances have reclaimed territory that Ukraine captured in Kursk. Russian advances have reclaimed territory that Ukraine captured in Kursk. Note: As of March 10. US intelligence-sharing ban will harm Ukraine's battlefield efforts and home front defence, ISW reports
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) have reported that the US suspension of intelligence sharing will undermine Ukraine's ability to advance and defend itself on the battlefield while exacerbating challenges in protecting civilians from Russian strikes. Source: ISW Details: Western and Ukrainian officials have noted that the suspension of US intelligence sharing has implications on the battlefield. Time magazine reported on 8 March, citing five senior Western and Ukrainian officials and military officers, that the suspension of US intelligence sharing with Ukraine has aided Russian forces in making advances on the battlefield. An unnamed officer told Time that the suspension has deprived Ukrainian forces of the ability to use "some of their best weapons systems". A Ukrainian government source said that the suspension most impacted Ukrainian operations in Russia's Kursk Oblast, with Ukrainian forces losing the ability to detect Russian aircraft approaching Ukraine. This has compromised their ability to warn both civilians and soldiers of incoming Russian strikes. Quote: "ISW cannot independently verify statements about the effects on the ground of the US intelligence sharing suspension. ISW continues to assess, however, that the complete suspension of US intelligence sharing would damage Ukraine's ability to use long-range strikes to generate battlefield effects and defend against Russian offensive operations and would allow Russian forces to intensify their drone and missile strikes against Ukrainian rear areas, affecting millions of Ukrainian civilians and the growth of Ukraine's defence industrial base (DIB)." Details: Meanwhile, European nations are working to expand intelligence sharing with Ukraine following the US suspension of cooperation. However, Europe is unlikely to fully compensate for the US intelligence capabilities "any time soon".The extent of the US suspension of intelligence sharing with Ukraine remains unclear. Western and Ukrainian officials indicated that the US suspension of intelligence sharing is generating battlefield effects. European states continue efforts to supplement intelligence sharing with Ukraine following the US suspension. Russian forces intensified their multi-directional campaign to eliminate the remaining Ukrainian salient in Kursk Oblast on 7 and 8 March. Russian forces appear to be destroying bridges in Kursk Oblast and along the international border, likely as part of efforts to prevent Ukrainian forces from withdrawing from Kursk Oblast into Ukraine. The Russian Ministry of Defence's (MoD) Main Military-Political Directorate Deputy Head and Akhmat Spetsnaz Commander, Major General Apti Alaudinov, announced the intensified Russian effort in Kursk Oblast on 8 March. Russian forces conducted a series of missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian rear and near rear areas on the night of 7 and 8 March and during the day on 8 March, and Ukrainian forces notably did not shoot down any Russian ballistic missiles. The Kremlin continues to promote the false narrative that European Union (EU) member states and Ukraine seek to protract and escalate the war in Ukraine in order to distract from Russia's own long-term preparations for a war with the West. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on 8 March that Ukrainian Presidential Administration Chief of Staff Andrii Yermak, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umierov, and Deputy Head of the Ukrainian President's Office Colonel Pavlo Palisa will participate in the US-Ukrainian talks on 11 March in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Kremlin forces are racing to drive back and cut off Ukraine's troops in Russia's Kursk region in a bid to undermine a bargaining chip in possible peace talks after the US suspended new military aid to Kyiv. 'All units across the entire Kursk front have gone on the attack,' Apti Alaudinov, a Russian military commander, was cited as saying by the Tass news service.
