ROP wins Arab Digital Economy Award for ‘Bayan' customs system

Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has been awarded the Arab Digital Economy Award 2025 in the government innovation category for its advanced electronic customs system, Bayan . The award was presented during the opening day of the Digital Economy Conference and Exhibition – Seamless Middle East 2025 – on May 20, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Saif bin Zayed al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates. Brigadier Said bin Khamis al Ghithi, Director General of Customs, and Colonel Abdullah Said al Kalbani, Director General of Information Technology, received the award on behalf of the ROP. The Arab Digital Economy Award recognises individuals, institutions, and initiatives that contribute meaningfully to the development of the digital economy, the advancement of technical solutions, and the implementation of smart transformation strategies aligned with international standards and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This prestigious recognition highlights the ROP's strides in digital transformation and its continued efforts to modernise government services in line with Oman Vision 2040. The Bayan system is regarded as one of the region's leading examples of digital government integration. It has streamlined business processes and simplified customs procedures through the application of artificial intelligence, significantly enhancing the efficiency of customs services and international trade facilitation. The platform currently offers over 495 electronic services and is directly connected with 74 government and private-sector entities.

The event was held under the auspices of Shaikh Saif bin Zayed al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates. Representing the Royal Oman Police to receive the award were Brigadier Said bin Khamis al Ghaithi, Director General of Customs, and Colonel Abdullah bin Said al Kalbani, Director General of Information Technology. The Bayan system represents one of the best models of government digital integration in the region, having accelerated business processes and simplified customs procedures through the use of artificial intelligence technologies, while enhancing the efficiency of customs services and international trade movement between Oman and other countries. Seamless Middle East 2025 Launches in Dubai to Drive Arab Digital Transformation

Seamless Middle East 2025, the region's largest digital economy conference, will open in Dubai on May 20 under the patronage of Lt. General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. The three-day event aims to accelerate digital transformation across the Arab world. Hosted at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event is organised by the Arab Federation for Digital Economy and Terrapinn, with support from the League of Arab States. It will gather over 30,000 participants, including 750 exhibiting companies and 800 global speakers. Dr. Ali Mohammed Al Khouri, Chairman of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, described the conference as a vital platform for shaping a unified Arab vision for digital progress. He noted that innovation and cooperation will be key drivers in building a resilient and sustainable digital future. A highlight of the event will be the unveiling of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy's Strategic Plan 2025–2030, which outlines a roadmap for regional integration, infrastructure development, and international partnerships — including collaboration with China in tech and digital innovation. The conference will also recognise outstanding digital achievements with the Arab Digital Economy Award 2025. Attendees can expect more than 200 specialised sessions and 70 workshops covering topics like fintech, e-commerce, logistics, and digital identity. With experts and decision-makers from both public and private sectors, Seamless Middle East 2025 is set to be a key forum for shaping digital policy and fostering investment in smart solutions across the region.
