Bahrain Chamber pushes labour reform at Arab conference
Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, Sameer Nass, led the Chamber's delegation at the opening session of the 51st Arab Labor Conference, currently underway with participation from member states across the region. Joining him were Waleed Kanoo, Vice-Treasurer of the Bahrain Chamber, and Board Member Sonya Janahi.
The conference is addressing a range of pressing labour and development issues, including economic diversification as a driver of growth, the role of inclusive social policies in reducing poverty and advancing integration, and the significance of public-private partnerships. Challenges arising from digital transformation across Arab labour markets are also being discussed.
Key agenda items include reviews of the Organization's constitutional and regulatory frameworks, with focus on trade union freedoms, women's labour affairs, and legal matters. The conference will also examine the Arab Entrepreneurship Strategy Project and oversee the formation of the Organization's governing bodies for the 2025–2027 term, including the Financial and Administrative Control Authority and other specialised committees.
