Tirupati: City MLA Arani Srinivasulu, district Collector Dr S Venkateswar, Joint Collector Subham Bansal, Zoo Park curator Selvam, DFO Vivek, residents living in the localities near the Zoo Park, officials and non-officials participated in the mass Yoga programme held in SV Zoo Park here on Thursday. This programme was organised as part of Yogandhra campaign going on in the State. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA and the Collector said everyone should practice yoga daily for a healthy life. The government on its part launched a massive campaign to create awareness and also to provide yoga training to the people from village, mandal and district level, on the occasion of 11th International Yoga Dr S Venkateswar said the month-long yoga programme began on May 21 and will continue till June 31. From May 29 to June 19, mass yoga programmes will be conducted in Tirumala, Srihari Kota, Chandragiri and Srikalahasti. They said that about five lakh people will participate in the yoga programme to be held in Visakhapatanm on June 21. The aim of conducting this month-long campaign is to provide training to 10 lakh people in yoga practicing. RDO Rammohan, Nodal Officer Vikram Kumar Reddy, DMHO Balakrishna Naik, Janardhan Reddy, Charan Tej Reddy were present.

An impressive 'Tiranga rally' was taken out on the arterial roads of Tirupati on Sunday (May 25) to commemorate the success of the Operation Sindhoor taken up by the Indian government in retaliation to the killing of innocent tourists at Pahalgam. Politicians, students, ex-servicemen, social activists and members of chamber of commerce, corporate entities took part in the rally in large numbers. The event, which was organised by REACH Global Foundation, began at Jyotirao Phule Circle and ended at Nalugukalla Mandapam junction in the city. The foundation's organiser and veteran medical professional Ramesh Nath Lingutla said the retaliatory act was necessitated by the terrorists' misadventure with the tacit support of Pakistan government. Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu called upon the youth to fill their hearts with patriotism and strive tirelessly for the nation's security. He likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to 'Trimurti' in protecting the country from enemies outside as well as within, to ensure the safety of the citizens. The rally was not just about shouting of patriotic slogans, but had artistes perform 'Chekka Bhajana', 'Kolatam' etc., while traditional drum beating by instrumentalists, which added to the grandeur of the event. Andhra Pradesh Yadava Welfare Corporation Chairman G. Narasimha Yadav and the city's Deputy Mayor R.C. Munikrishna joined the rally at NTR Circle and walked till the end.

Tirupati takes first step towards achieving ‘YogAndhra Pradesh'

The district administration on Wednesday launched the curtain raiser for YogAndhra-2025 campaign as a first step towards achieving 'YogAndhra Pradesh'. The event marks the first day of a month-long campaign launched by the government ahead of the upcoming International Yoga Day on June 21 to be celebrated at Visakhapatnam on a massive scale. Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu, Collector S. Venkateswar, Joint Collector Shubham Bansal, Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju, SPMVV Vice-Chancellor V. Uma and others participated in the Yoga session. Mr. Srinivasulu said that many people from across the globe have started embracing yoga to control the body and mind. Mr. Venkateswar urged everyone to make yoga an integral part of life, with a dedicated time slot to ensure a balanced living. 'There is still a greater need to create awareness among the public as the message on well-being through yoga has not percolated to the masses at the desired level,' he said. SPMVV Registrar N. Rajani, District Revenue Officer M. Narasimhulu, Revenue Divisional Officer A. Ramamohan, State Yadava Welfare Corporation Chairman G. Narasimha Yadav, AP Greenery and Beautification Corporation Chairperson M. Sugunamma and Deputy Mayor R.C. Munikrishna took part in the event.

Tirupati: District Collector Dr S Venkateswar has directed officials of various departments to work in coordination for the upcoming Sri Tatayyagunta Gangamma Jatara, scheduled from May 6 to 14 while speaking at a review meeting held at the Collectorate on Monday evening. He instructed officials to install hoardings with key information, maintain sanitation, manage queue lines, and set up control rooms. Special focus will be placed on traffic regulation, cultural programmes, medical camps, ambulance availability, drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, and fire safety measures. Special security arrangements are being made for the 'Sare' procession day to manage large crowds and avoid stampedes. VIP darshan will be limited to 6–8 AM and 3–5 PM to avoid inconvenience to general devotees. MLA Arani Srinivasulu stressed the need for comfortable facilities for pilgrims. SP V Harshavardhan Raju assured robust security and crowd control. Municipal Commissioner N Mourya highlighted sanitation and cultural event arrangements at Indira Grounds. Officials from TTD, Endowments Department, and other civic bodies along with festival coordination committee members participated in the meeting.

Tight security in place for Thathayagunta Gangamma temple jatra

The annual Tirupati Gangamma Jatara—a week-long folk festival, will begin from May 6. The Tirupati police have enforced tight security in and around the famous Thathayagunta Gangamma temple located in the heart of Tirupati. The festivities which last till May 13 will witness large crowds of devotees from across Rayalaseema, Nellore districts and the bordering states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The Gangamma Jatara, is known for its vibrant and unique traditions, has gained attention across India after the Telugu film 'Pushpa – The Rule.' The movie features some scenes of the ancient practices followed at the temple— such as men dressed as women arriving at the temple to offer prayers on the final day. The Andhra Pradesh State government has declared the event a State festival. A special committee comprising of the local MLAs Arani Srinivasulu (Tirupati), Pulivarthi Nani (Chandragiri), TTD board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy, AP Yadava Corporation Chairman G. Narasimha Yadav, BJP district President Samanchi Srinivas to oversee arrangements. Superintendent of Police (Tirupati) V. Harshavardhan Raju inspected the security arrangements, including the formation of queues, arrangement of barricades, and deployment of forces. He also gave instructions to the sub-divisional cops on the diversion of traffic to be implemented in the vicinity, especially on the last two days when thousands of devotees are expected to throng the shrine. All arrangements have been taken up in consultation with the committee members of the temple. Present for inspection were Additional Superintendent K. Ravi Manoharachary, Deputy Superintendents K. Bhaktavatsalam (Tirupati) and Ramakrishnachari (Traffic).
