NIFT Mumbai's 2025 Graduation Show Celebrates New Talent
The NIFT Mumbai Graduation Show 2025, held on June 6 at the institute's campus, was a vibrant celebration of creativity, innovation, and academic excellence. With 317 graduating students from various disciplines, the event served as a culmination of years of rigorous training and artistic exploration. Distinguished guests from the fashion and design industry—including Archana Kochhar, Nelson Jaffery, Meher Castelino, and others—graced the event to inaugurate discipline-specific shows like Fashionova (Fashion Design), Technova (Fashion Technology), Communique (Fashion Communication), Tantu (Textile Design), D-Dots (Master of Design), and Knitmoda (Knitwear Design). Each showcase featured original student collections inspired by a wide range of themes, such as cultural identity, architectural fantasy, familial narratives, and divinity. The show highlighted NIFT Mumbai's commitment to nurturing not just technical expertise, but also personal expression and entrepreneurial ambition among its students. Director Mr. Khushal Jangid emphasized the alignment of NIFT's vision with national initiatives like Start-up India and Make in India, encouraging graduates to step confidently into industry leadership and innovation. As proud parents, mentors, and peers watched the runway come alive, the event marked both an emotional farewell and a promising beginning for India's next generation of fashion and lifestyle professionals.

A world of beauty, an ode to Telangana
HYDERABAD: The Miss World finale burst to life with a whirlwind of colour as contestants from the Americas, Caribbean, Africa, Europe, Asia and Oceania claimed the catwalk, radiating national pride with every stride. This global procession painted the stage with unity and diversity before the curtain briefly fell for the interlude of advertisements. Returning to the stage in a tribute to Telangana, contestants dazzled in traditional handwoven attire designed by Archana Kochhar. The ensembles, crafted in real zari and signature ikat, celebrated India's rich textile legacy. The panel of judges was then introduced: philanthropist Sudha Reddy, actor Rana Daggubati, senior bureaucrat Jayesh Ranjan, Miss World CEO Julia Morley, Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, actors Namrata Shirodkar and Sonu Sood and dancer Donna Walsh. Soon after, the top 10 contestants from each continent were announced. Sudha Reddy was felicitated for her philanthropic contributions. One of the evening's standout moments followed, with the 'Beauty with a Purpose' award going to Miss Indonesia, Monica Kezia Sembiring, for her initiative to clean contaminated water. As excitement built, the top five from each continent were revealed. Then, adding star power to the evening, actor Jacqueline Fernandez lit up the stage with a high-energy dance performance. Next came the announcement of the top two finalists from each continent. Each delivered a short speech on why they deserved the Miss World Continental title.

Contestants graced the ramp, showcasing a stunning collection of outfits thoughtfully crafted by some of the most celebrated names in the fashion industry. A key highlight of the evening was the winning dress, inspired by the national flower and designed by a South African designer. This elegant creation was locally manufactured and crafted, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable and ethical fashion practices. The designs also beautifully reflected the vibrant soul of Telangana and the richness of Indian fashion. Renowned designer Archana Kochhar also showcased her trademark blend of grace and creativity on the Miss World platform, captivating the audience with her elegant and culturally inspired creations. Arrangements and preparation for the grand event are in full swing, as the Telangana government works to transform Miss World into a major tourism powerhouse through various key initiatives. As part of the ongoing celebrations, previously 109 contestants from countries across the globe visited the iconic Charminar in Hyderabad. The contestants pose for photo sessions in front of the monument, greeting fans and showcasing Hyderabad's rich cultural heritage as part of the pageant's promotional campaign. The 72nd Miss World beauty pageant is taking place in Hyderabad from May 7 to May 31, promising a grand celebration of beauty, culture, and global companionship.

Lab-grown diamond jewellery brand Solitario has launched its latest jewellery collection, the 'Sustainable Bling Line ', in collaboration with fashion designer Archana Kochhar. The 89-piece collection debuted at Pune Times Fashion Week during Kochhar's runway showcase, with actress Nimrat Kaur walking as showstopper. Solitario's new jewellery line is designed to merge heritage influences with modern design sensibilities, the brand announced in a press release. Each piece has been produced using ethically sourced, conflict-free diamonds, reinforcing the brand's commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing. 'This collection represents more than just aesthetic excellence," announced Solitario in a press release. "It reflects Solitario's deep commitment to sustainability and conscious craftsmanship... True luxury is not just about what you wear– it's about what you stand for.' By working with Archana Kochhar, a designer known for her focus on sustainable fashion, Solitario aims to reinforce its position as a forward-thinking label within the Indian jewellery landscape. The event spotlighted conscious luxury, featuring Kochhar's garments crafted in Ahimsa Silk, a cruelty-free, sustainable fabric. Solitario promotes lab-grown diamonds as a sustainable alternative to traditional mined stones. Based in Pune, the brand operates state-of-the-art cutting and processing units.
