Arctic Monkeys Tease Comeback? Fans Speculate As Band Launches New Record Company
Last Updated: Arctic Monkeys may be preparing for a comeback. Alex Turner sparked speculation at the Music Week Awards, and fans noticed changes on their website. Arctic Monkeys appear to be preparing for a comeback. The indie rock legends have kept a low profile with the band having not released any new music since their 2022 LP The Car, while they have been on hiatus from playing live since 2023. However, those in attendance at the Music Week Awards at London's JW Marriott Grosvenor House, in May, were left gobsmacked when frontman Alex Turner appeared on stage to present their manager Ian McAndrew with The Strat Award, sparking speculation they could be preparing to return to the limelight. This week, eagle-eyed fans spotted that the I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor group's official website has removed the album cover for The Car, and a new page for a Newsletter has appeared. What's more, on Wednesday (August 6), the band members – also including Matt Helders, Jamie Cook, and Nick O'Malley – launched a new record company, BANG BANG RECORDINGS LLP, which appeared on Companies House. Arctic Monkeys' recent albums have seen them head in a space rock direction, but some of their diehard fans prefer their earlier sound. The Hives frontman Pelle Almqvist offered his opinion on Arctic Monkeys' change in direction and insisted they should carry on making the music that 'feels right" to them. Asked about their polarising albums, he told Music Week: 'I think they should do what feels right. I think everything they've done has been good, it's just different genres. I can see that someone who loved the first album maybe isn't into the last album and vice-versa, but who gives a s***? They're doing what they feel like they should be doing and that's all there is to it. I like all their stuff, basically." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Eve Jobs and Harry Charles: No expense spared for Apple founder Steve Job's daughter's $10m wedding
There will be no expense spared when Apple founder Steve Job's model daughter ties the knot this weekend during a four-day wedding bonanza expected to top $10 million. An entire village in Oxfordshire is in virtual lockdown as organisers prepare for the lavish nuptials of heiress Eve Jobs, 27, and her Olympic equestrian fiancé Harry Charles, 26. Elton John is booked to perform and close family friend Kamala Harris is on the star-filled guest list. Princess Beatrice, the equestrian daughter of Bruce Springsteen, Jessica Springsteen, the Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders, and Sofia Abramovich, whose dad Roman used to own Chelsea Football Club, are all expected to be there. Eve's siblings — Reed, 33, and Erin, 29 — are also set to attend. It is uncertain whether her stepsister Lisa will be there. It comes less than a month after Amazon boss and Lauren Sanchez dropped $20 million on their opulent Venetian wedding, surrounded by their glamorous celebrity friends. Eve and Charles first went public with their relationship in August 2024 at the Summer Olympics in Paris, where Charles was competing. Jobs, who is also a keen equestrian and has competed in World Cup finals, is signed to DNA Model Management and has walked for luxury brands including Coperni and appeared in campaigns for Louis Vuitton and on the cover of Japan Vogue. 'Eve and Harry's wedding is like a multimillion-pound fairytale,' a source told The Sun. 'It's a society wedding like no other and it's turning rural Oxfordshire upside down. 'The sleepy village in which it's taking place feels like it's turning into a no-go zone, with secret service operatives and blokes who look like they work for the FBI. 'Kamala Harris, who ran for the Presidency last year, is very close friends with Laurene and is on the guestlist.' They added: 'This is a very quiet place not far from the Cotswolds. Everyone is used to tourists and famous faces, but this is something else.' Eve and her friends went to Capri for a splashy bachelorette weekend. Steve Jobs died in 2011 from a rare form of pancreatic cancer. His philanthropist wife Laurene, who he married in 1991, inherited billions of dollars in stock in Apple and the Walt Disney Company. But she has previously said that inheritance was unlikely to be passed on to the tech titan's children. 'I'm not interested in legacy wealth buildings, and my children know that,' she told The New York Times in February 2020. 'Steve wasn't interested in that. If I live long enough, it ends with me.' 'I inherited my wealth from my husband, who didn't care about the accumulation of wealth. I am doing this in honor of his work, and I've dedicated my life to doing the very best I can to distribute it effectively, in ways that lift up individuals and communities in a sustainable way.'

Kane, 39, who plays with Turner in The Last Shadow Puppets, is due to play the venue's last gig on June 27, after The Leadmill announced it would have to leave its premises in the South Yorkshire city after losing a long-running eviction battle with its landlord, Electric Group. Arctic Monkeys played several early shows at the venue before the release of their first album, Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not, and Kane has said he would welcome Turner's return to the stage during an interview with Radio X. Asked whether the Sheffield-born singer, who is also 39, would join him, Kane said: "Well, he's redecorating it (The Leadmill) at the minute, so he's making it all leopard print for us, because, you know, it's got to be done by hand. "My door's always open for my bro, he knows that, and that's that." Article continues below Turner has not performed live since Arctic Monkeys' last gig on their tour in support of latest album The Car (2022) in 2023. The duo have seen both of their albums with The Last Shadow Puppets reach number one in the UK albums chart, and Kane said it would be an "honour" to play The Leadmill's last gig having performed there throughout his career. He told Radio X: "It's served me well, and Sheffield as a city as well has always had my back with gigs, that'd be one of the first to sell out or whatever. Article continues below "So, it's a complete honour, and let's give it a good send-off. I think it'll be a very special night, and it always pops off in there, and hopefully next Friday it won't be any different." Arctic Monkeys have seen six of their seven albums reach number one, and two of their singles reach the peak of the UK singles chart in I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and When The Sun Goes Down. The band performed I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and a cover of The Beatles' Come Together at the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games in 2012, and have also headlined Glastonbury on three occasions, in 2007, 2013 and 2023.

Arctic Monkeys' 'true meaning' of iconic song that fans are still trying to work out
Fans of Arctic Monkeys are still trying to work out the meaning behind one of the band's most iconic songs, with one Reddit user suggesting they have finally cracked the code Arctic Monkeys' fans are still puzzled over the meaning of one of the band's biggest hits. The indie rock legends have a plethora of popular songs, with tracks like Fluorescent Adolescent continuing to spark discussions among fans even after more than a decade since its release. Now, attention has shifted to a song from Arctic Monkeys ' most commercially successful album, led by Alex Turner. A post on the r/ArcticMonkeys subreddit has seen fans sharing their various interpretations of a track from 2013's AM, an album that was released around the time the band were headlining Glastonbury Festival. Fans are still trying to figure out the meaning behind the song, Do I Wanna Know?, which featured on the 2013 album. One user wrote: "My interpretation of AM's 'Do I Wanna Know?' I feel that the best way to enjoy this song is with the music video. A lot of people find the AM persona irritating and cringe. Constantly chasing this girl to no avail and telling us, the listener, about his fantasies about her. "But I find it quite interesting. You can clearly see in the video the personas spiral into madness as s**t just gets weirder and weirder, symbolising how the character may feel. "It starts out as clearly being black and white (either true or false) but then colour creeps its way into the video symbolising how the persona begins to question what he knows and believes because of this girl. "This culminates into full blown explosion of colour and confusion. The things that the character used to know as true are ultimately questioned and perhaps ignored." Other users have suggested other interpretations of the song, which has been aided by watching the music video. Another has since thanked the original poster, as the music video has recontextualised the song for them. They wrote: "I never watched the music video until now so thanks. "It's the song that got me into it them so I don't find it cringy. But I also think that the video could symbolize him getting farther and farther away from the girl (feels like he's losing her and control over the situation/his feelings). "Like things started out simple and easy to understand between them, black and white, and slowly got more confusing, adding colour, until he's not even sure what's happening between them or if there was anything to start with." But some fans have suggested that this bewildering track is misunderstood as being superficial. One user countered: "That's an interesting perspective... "I'm pretty sure it was never meant to be as shallow as people perceived it to be. It's just that because it got really popular, people thought it just became a stupid song. Another jokingly claimed the song straightforward than the original poster suggested. The song 'Do I Wanna Know?' appears on Arctic Monkeys' widely debated 2013 album, AM. However, one user thinks they've deciphered its rather simple message, humorously suggesting: "He just doesn't know if he wants to know."
