Kristin Davis takes fashion inspiration from Sarah Jessica Parker
Kristin Davis hates to be "out of sync" with Sarah Jessica Parker. The 60-year-old actress has learned some important life lessons from her 'Sex and the City' co-star, explaining that she always has to "check in" with the actress before a red-carpet event. During the latest episode of her 'Are You a Charlotte?' podcast, Kristin explained: "I need to know what Sarah Jessica's gonna wear to our different events, because she might be wearing something that is, like, way dressier than what I pictured in my mind, and I hate to be out of sync with her." Kristin - who played Charlotte York in 'Sex and the City' - actually loves getting "dressed up" for work. The actress explained: "There's a part of me always, like, 'Oh my gosh, why do I have to dress up so much all the time?' But on the other hand, it's fun to dress up. "And in life, I really don't dress up at all. So when we haven't worked for a while, then we go back to work and we get to get in all the clothes, I love it so much, because I don't do it that much. And so I think it's a good thing to remember. Like, it can make you feel good to dress up." Meanwhile, Kristin previously admitted that she was unimpressed by the 'Sex and The City' pilot. The actress never imagined that the TV show would become so successful. Kristin said on the 'Are You A Charlotte?' podcast: "I was never a fan of the pilot. It didn't seem smooth. It seemed kind of choppy and hectic. "But I also feel my personal theory on pilots in general is that if they're too good - if the pilot is too formed - the show might not be good." Kristin also revealed that she was initially offered $5,000 to play a "recurring character" on the show. She shared: "One day, I'm in my trailer and she [a producer] knocks on my door and I opened it and she says, 'Oh, well, we have this paperwork we need you to fill out.' "And I was like, 'OK.' I take the paperwork and I look at it and it seems to be a new contract, but it's only two pages long, and I'm like, 'What is this?' And it says, 'You will be a recurring character and you will be paid $5,000.'"

Kristin Davis recalls Sex and The City having 'cult-type elements'
Kristin Davis thinks there were "cult-type elements" to 'Sex and The City'. The 60-year-old actress played Charlotte York in the hit HBO show, and Kristin has revealed that she was forced to adhere to some strict rules on set. Speaking on her 'Are You A Charlotte?' podcast, Kristin explained: "I remember there were elements - and this is probably something I shouldn't say - there were strange, cult-type elements about being in that cast where there were like some rules." Kristin revealed that the cast - which also included Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon - were all banned from wearing pantyhose. The actress subsequently listed some of the other rules that she was asked to follow. She shared: "No scrunchies. No banana clips." Kristin explained that the rules were "little things" that were "slowly" introduced to the show. The actress reflected: "They weren't all in the beginning. "No hose unless they were fishnet. We went through a whole fishnet phase. If you could find double fishnets that was great. If you could find nude double fishnets even better." Meanwhile, Kristin previously admitted that she was unimpressed by the 'Sex and The City' pilot. The actress never imagined that the TV show would become so successful. Kristin said on the 'Are You A Charlotte?' podcast: "I was never a fan of the pilot. It didn't seem smooth. It seemed kind of choppy and hectic. Kristin Davis Shares ‘Strange, Cult-Type' Rules of Working on ‘Sex and the City'
Kristin Davis revealed that the cast had to follow some odd protocols on the set of Sex and the City. 'I remember there were … strange, cult-type elements about being in that cast where there were like some rules,' Davis, 60, shared with Sex and the City writer Jenny Bicks on her 'Are You A Charlotte?' podcast on Monday, March 31. The actress, who starred as Charlotte York in the original Sex and the City series from 1998 to 2004, revealed that they weren't allowed to wear scrunchies or banana clips — and the rules would 'come slowly' as they worked on the show. 'They weren't all in the beginning,' she noted. 'No hose unless they were fishnet. We went through a whole fishnet phase. If you could find double fishnets that was great. If you could find nude double fishnets even better.' Kristin Davis Recalls Being Ghosted by 'Very Successful' Actor After Lending Him $5000: 'Horrible' Davis explained that there was also a 'heel-height situation' which took her 'a while to get on board with' working in such high heels. 'Part of the problem is you can blame your costar Sarah Jessica Parker because she could run in those things,' Bicks, 61, added. 'She made it look so easy.' Davis agreed with Bicks, saying that they 'always had to live up to' Parker, 60, before going on to share other rules for the cast, which included always having to return borrowed clothes, only wearing Cosabella G-strings and having no 'functional' coats. 'We could go down the list of approved brands and not approved brands. There was a lot,' she noted. Aside from the little rules they had on the set of Sex and the City, Davis recently got candid about what it was like filming intimate scenes without intimacy coordinators when the show first aired in 1998. Kristin Davis Reveals the Unexpected Reason She Didn't Want to Break Up With Alec Baldwin 'I did not feel protected,' Davis told People in February. 'I had to hide in my dressing room at the end of the scenario. I had to hide in my dressing room and call my manager in L.A., at 2 in the morning.' Davis explained that the cast 'didn't exactly know' what they were doing when it came to sexuality at the beginning. 'I also feel like we didn't talk about it as a group in a way that would've been helping and would've happened now,' she shared with the outlet, adding that over time the sex scenes 'became much more our gaze as it should be' and about them 'being comfortable.' Sex and the City, which starred York, Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon, followed the lives of four female friends living in New York City and explored themes such as sex, relationships, friendships and femininity.

Kristin Davis reveals Kyle MacLachlan turned down And Just Like That...
Kristin Davis has talked about a scrapped And Just Like That... storyline where Charlotte runs into her ex-husband, Trey. In an episode on her Are You A Charlotte? podcast, the Sex And The City star shared the news of a potential storyline for the offshoot series that would mark the reappearance of her ex, played by Kyle MacLachlan. "I loved working with Kyle MacLachlan so incredibly much," she began, saying the Twin Peaks star was only supposed to be on the show for five episodes but ended up staying. "We all really just fell madly in love with him and he had to stay." She continued, "There was an idea that Trey/Kyle would come on in And Just Like That... and then it didn't happen, and so Kyle and I had to talk about it 'cause I was kind of mad at him, I said 'Why didn't you come on? We wanted you to come on.'" And he said, 'I just wanted it to be amazing'." Davis said that once MacLachlan explained his point of view, she understood it. "When you have played such a wonderful part in the past that people have such a great memory of, and it was so special as a work experience, you want it to kind of stay in this glorious place, and I think he just didn't want there to be kind of a sad note to the end. So I get that."
