Tropical Depression Huaning nears PAR exit, remains unlikely to hit PH
Tropical Depression Huaning is moving northward and is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Monday night or early Tuesday morning, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
As of 11 a.m. Monday, the cyclone's center was located 535 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, carrying maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 70 kph.
PAGASA said Huaning is moving slowly and will not directly affect any part of the country, and no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) has been raised.
It is also not expected to influence sea conditions over Philippine coastal waters.
On its forecast track, the tropical depression is projected to move slowly north-northwestward and pass close to or over the Okinawa Islands in Japan by Tuesday morning or afternoon.
The weather bureau added that while Huaning may slightly intensify, it is likely to remain a tropical depression before exiting PAR.
PAGASA urged the public and disaster response agencies to continue monitoring for official updates.
