PlayStation Plus drops three big free games for May 2025: Here's what is coming

Sony has announced the free PlayStation Plus games for May 2025, and there is something for everyone—whether you want to tame dinosaurs, play a unique card game, or shoot enemies in a retro-style world. From 6 May to 2 June, the Sony PlayStation Plus members can download Ark: Survival Ascended (PS5), Balatro (PS5, PS4), and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (PS5, PS4). The biggest game this month is Ark: Survival Ascended, a survival adventure title where players must stay alive on an island filled with dinosaurs. You can form tribes, tame and breed hundreds of different creatures, explore the world, craft tools, and build shelters. This updated version uses Unreal Engine 5 for better graphics and smoother gameplay. It also includes all of the original game's worlds, such as Scorched Earth and Genesis. You can play solo, join online games with up to 70 players, or play split-screen with a friend. Next up is Balatro, a card game that mixes poker with a roguelike style. Players try to build strong hands and powerful combos using jokers and special cards. Every round brings new challenges, and you will need to earn enough chips to beat tough bosses and move forward. The game is all about creating clever strategies and surprising combos. The third game is Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, a fast-paced shooter that looks and feels like classic games from the 1990s. You play as a Space Marine fighting enemies across the galaxy using powerful weapons. Expect lots of action, big explosions, and pixel-style graphics as you blast your way through enemies like Chaos Space Marines and daemons. Do not forget—PlayStation Plus members have until 5 May to grab April's free games:RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory. PlayStation Plus games for May announced- including Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun

May's three PlayStation Plus games involve playing cards, dinosaurs and some futuristic shooting action. PlayStation have announced the next batch of games available to play in May for PS Plus members. The three chosen titles will be available for gamers to access with their PlayStation Plus memberships from next Tuesday, May 6. The PlayStation blog teased the three new games, saying: "Tame dinosaurs to survive an island paradise, mix and match card decks to win big and head to the far-future for some retro shooting action with May's PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup." ‌ But which three titles will get their chance in the PS Plus spotlight this month? Here are the PlayStation Plus games for May. ‌ Which PlayStation Plus games will be available in May? Ark: Survival Ascended (PS5) Dinosaur fanatics will be pleased to hear that Ark: Survival Ascended is the first of PS Plus' three titles for this month. The PlayStation blog stated: "Are you ready to form a tribe, tame and breed hundreds of species of dinosaurs and other primeval creatures, explore, craft, build, and fight your way to the top of the food-chain? "Your new world awaits in this survival sim, reimagined from the ground-up with Unreal Engine 5, with high-end graphic features, advanced physics systems and quality of life revamps in every area." Ark: Survival Ascended includes access to all of Ark's worlds, including Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, Ark Genesis Part 1, Ark Genesis Part 2, and more, the gaming giant explained. This game allows public online multiplayer for up to 70 players at once, as well as private-session multiplayer for up to eight players, and local split-screen for two players. Balatro (PS5, PS4) This virtual card game is perfect for lovers of poker and solitaire. ‌ PlayStation said: "In this poker-inspired roguelike deck builder, it's all creating powerful synergies and winning big. Play illegal poker hands, discover game-changing jokers and trigger outrageous combos in this roguelike strategy experience. "Combine valid poker hands with unique joker cards in order to create varied synergies and builds. Earn enough chips to beat devious blinds, all while uncovering hidden bonus hands and decks as you progress. "You're going to need every edge you can get in order to reach the boss blind, beat the final ante and secure victory." ‌ Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (PS5, PS4) This game is described as a "perfect blend of Warhammer 40,000, classic, frenetic FPS gameplay and the stylish visuals of your favourite 90's retro shooters." ‌ Players will take the role of a battle-hardened Space Marine on an intergalactic mission, battling against the Chaos Space Marines and daemons of Chaos. PlayStation said: "In glorious boomer shooter style, unleash your devastating Space Marine arsenal as you blast through an explosion of sprites, pixels and blood. "Run, jump and charge across huge levels to shoot, shred and slice the worst heretics across the galaxy!" The three titles will be available to PlayStation Plus members on May 6 until June 2. And PlayStation Plus members still have until May 5 to add last month's games, RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory to their game library.
