Daily Record01-05-2025

May's three PlayStation Plus games involve playing cards, dinosaurs and some futuristic shooting action.
PlayStation have announced the next batch of games available to play in May for PS Plus members. The three chosen titles will be available for gamers to access with their PlayStation Plus memberships from next Tuesday, May 6.
The PlayStation blog teased the three new games, saying: "Tame dinosaurs to survive an island paradise, mix and match card decks to win big and head to the far-future for some retro shooting action with May's PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup."

But which three titles will get their chance in the PS Plus spotlight this month? Here are the PlayStation Plus games for May.

Which PlayStation Plus games will be available in May?
Ark: Survival Ascended (PS5)
Dinosaur fanatics will be pleased to hear that Ark: Survival Ascended is the first of PS Plus' three titles for this month.
The PlayStation blog stated: "Are you ready to form a tribe, tame and breed hundreds of species of dinosaurs and other primeval creatures, explore, craft, build, and fight your way to the top of the food-chain?
"Your new world awaits in this survival sim, reimagined from the ground-up with Unreal Engine 5, with high-end graphic features, advanced physics systems and quality of life revamps in every area."
Ark: Survival Ascended includes access to all of Ark's worlds, including Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, Ark Genesis Part 1, Ark Genesis Part 2, and more, the gaming giant explained.
This game allows public online multiplayer for up to 70 players at once, as well as private-session multiplayer for up to eight players, and local split-screen for two players.
Balatro (PS5, PS4)
This virtual card game is perfect for lovers of poker and solitaire.

PlayStation said: "In this poker-inspired roguelike deck builder, it's all creating powerful synergies and winning big. Play illegal poker hands, discover game-changing jokers and trigger outrageous combos in this roguelike strategy experience.
"Combine valid poker hands with unique joker cards in order to create varied synergies and builds. Earn enough chips to beat devious blinds, all while uncovering hidden bonus hands and decks as you progress.
"You're going to need every edge you can get in order to reach the boss blind, beat the final ante and secure victory."

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (PS5, PS4)
This game is described as a "perfect blend of Warhammer 40,000, classic, frenetic FPS gameplay and the stylish visuals of your favourite 90's retro shooters."

Players will take the role of a battle-hardened Space Marine on an intergalactic mission, battling against the Chaos Space Marines and daemons of Chaos.
PlayStation said: "In glorious boomer shooter style, unleash your devastating Space Marine arsenal as you blast through an explosion of sprites, pixels and blood.
"Run, jump and charge across huge levels to shoot, shred and slice the worst heretics across the galaxy!"
The three titles will be available to PlayStation Plus members on May 6 until June 2.
And PlayStation Plus members still have until May 5 to add last month's games, RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory to their game library.

Here's when PS Plus Extra and Premium June 2025 free games are being announced

The PS Plus Extra and Premium June 2025 games are set to be announced soon, and we've got all the details you need to know about when you can expect them Two titles have already been confirmed for the PS Plus Extra and Premium June 2025 roster, but there's plenty more speculation about what else might be on the cards. Despite a somewhat lacklustre reveal of Sand Land as the headline act last month, PlayStation kicked off its PS Plus June 2025 free games with a surprise drop for Essential subscribers, as well as a smattering of titles for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, so we'll write off May as a blip for now. ‌ The recent PlayStation State of Play showcase (via YouTube) made some significant announcements, including the release of Twisted Metal 3 and 4 on Tuesday, July 15, and Resident Evil 2 and 3 in the summer. It was also revealed that Sword of the Sea, the latest adventure from the creators of Journey, will debut on the service on day one in August. ‌ Some of these releases are imminent, with FBC: Firebreak set to land on PS Plus Extra on Tuesday, June 17, along with the original Deus Ex for Premium subscribers. These games are guaranteed to arrive this month, giving us a solid starting point for predicting other potential additions. The most effective way to anticipate what might be included in a future PS Plus release is by examining the games that were released on the service at the same time last year, noting their original PlayStation release dates, adding a year to those dates, and seeing what matches up. In this instance, we'd be looking at the PS Plus June 2025 Extra and Premium lineup, which boasted Monster Hunter Rise, Crusader Kings 3 and Monster Energy Supercross – The Video Game 6. Given that Monster Hunter was initially launched in March 2021, the subsequent year is a good indicator for game releases, with titles such as Bleach: Brave Souls, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands making an appearance. The inclusion of these games would result in a satisfying PS Plus June 2025 Extra and Premium games drop for many players. However, with FBC: Firebreak already confirmed, it hardly needs these additions to make it a standout month. But when exactly will this new collection of games be unveiled? Here's everything you need to know about the PS Plus Extra and Premium June 2025 games reveal date. ‌ PS Plus Extra and Premium June 2025 games reveal date The PS Plus Extra and Premium June 2025 games reveal date is scheduled for Wednesday,June 11 at 8.30am PDT / 11.30am EDT / 4.30pm BST. This is because the PS Plus Extra and Premium games for any given month are always announced on its second Wednesday, before being released on the following Tuesday, which in this case is Tuesday, June 17. It's refreshing to have a sneak peek at the forthcoming PS Plus Extra and Premium June 2025 games this month, and Sony could still surprise us with this month's release. Dune Awakening swamped by 100,000 early access players ahead of launch

Dune Awakening isn't technically out yet, but that hasn't stopped almost 100,000 eager players from jumping into the massively multiplayer online game during its early access period. Officially launching on 10 June, Dune Awakening has you exploring the sandy wilderness of Arrakis. Developed by Funcom, creators of Conan: Exiles, the MMO allows players to fully immerse themselves in Frank Herbert's revived and genre-defining science-fiction universe. Dune Awakening is set to launch on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, and sees players assume the role of The Sleeper, a jobbing freelancer set loose in the desert world of Arrakis to form alliances, join guilds, fight for control of regions, and avoid the sci-fi series' behemoth sandworms. First teased in 2023, Dune Awakening is finally approaching a full release. Players who paid extra can jump into the game early, and almost 100,000 players have joined, leading to server overloads and connection problems – and a lot of negative Steam reviews. Ready to get sand in your stillsuit? Here's everything we know about Dune Awakening so far. Dune Awakening release date Dune Awakening launches on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S and X on Tuesday, 10 June. Players who pre-ordered Dune Awakening and paid for advanced access can start playing now, ahead of the game's full release. What is Dune Awakening about? While stylistically similar to the most recent Dune movies, Dune Awakening draws as much from the classic Frank Herbert books as it does the recent Timothée Chalamet-fronted blockbusters. Pitting you as a lone wanderer in the desert world of Arrakis, Dune Awakening is a mixture of open-world survival and multiplayer combat. Starting out with nothing but a scrap knife, you'll attack enemy camps to loot the materials needed to expand your armoury, build new tools, vehicles and weapons, and expand your guild's camp to grow your power and influence. The IMAX-scale of Arrakis can also be felt in the giant sandstorms that rage across the game world, as well as those iconic sandworms – skyscraper-sized monsters that burst from the dunes and must be avoided at all costs.
