3 Texas A&M Aggies Named To Athlon Preseason All-America Team
3 Texas A&M Aggies Named To Athlon Preseason All-America Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As we inch closer to the 2025 college football season, we've reached the time of year for preseason award lists. Athlon has officially released our College Football 2025 All-America Team, and Texas A&M football found themselves with three players named to the team. Advertisement The top-rated Texas A&M player on the All-America list is junior Aggies linebacker Taurean York, who made an appearance on the First-Team Defense. York started all 26 games for Texas A&M during his freshman and sophomore seasons. In 2024, York recorded 82 tackles (9 TFL), five pass deflections, and 2.5 sacks. Taurean York (21) celebrates with his Texas A&M football Lysaker-Imagn Images Joining York on the list are redshirt senior offensive lineman Ar'maj Reed-Adams and junior wide receiver Kevin "KC" Concepcion. Adams, who was listed as a lineman on the Second-Team Offense, started all 13 games for the Aggies last fall and helped anchor the 25th-best rushing attack at the FBS level last season. He joined Texas A&M in 2024 after a four-season stint with the Kansas Jayhawks. Both York and Reed-Adams were both also named Walter Camp Preseason All-Americans earlier this week. Concepcion, who was named to the Fourth-Team Offense, transferred into College Station this offseason after beginning his career in the ACC with North Carolina State. During his first two seasons with the Wolfpack, Concepcion hauled in 124 receptions for 1,299 yards and 16 touchdowns and also added 60 carries for 356 yards and two touchdowns. A highly-touted transfer portal addition, Concepcion has racked up $2.5 million in NIL deals to bring his talents to College Station. In 1967, the Walter Camp Football Foundation was founded and continued the tradition of annually selecting an All-America team. The Aggies linebacker made the First Team Defense and the offensive lineman made Second Team Offense. Texas A&M's rising junior defenseman started all 13 games in 2024-25 and was a season-long captain for the Aggies. He led the team with 82 tackles with 35 solos and 47 assists, and was second on the team with 9.5 tackles for loss for 31 yards. York also totaled 2.5 sacks and four pass breakups. Advertisement York started his success early in College Station the year prior in 2023. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman team and Freshman All-American team after leading the rookies in the NCAA in tackles for loss. Texas A&M football offensive lineman Ar'maj Lysaker-Imagn Images Reed-Adams is entering his second season at Texas A&M as a senior. He was the starting right guard each game in 2024-25 and assisted the Aggies in averaging 195.5 rushing yards per game. Reed-Adams is a versatile offensive lineman that kept the offense as stable as possible through quarterback adjustments. He's a key returner for the Aggies after opting to not declare for 2025 NFL Draft. Reed-Adams should be expected to be a day two draft pick in 2026. Chiefs summer scouting: Texas A&M Aggies offensive line
The Kansas City Chiefs turned over two positions along their offensive line this summer and could explore more changes next spring depending on the performances of Jawaan Taylor and Kingsley Suamataia. Fans should closely monitor the Texas A&M Aggies offensive line for potential Chiefs targets in the 2026 NFL draft. Four of Texas A&M's starting offensive linemen possess NFL talent. Unlike Clemson's defensive front, the Aggies don't have any future first round selections in the trenches. However, the collection of fourth through sixth round prospects makes the unit one of college football's most talented fronts. Advertisement The four Aggies eyeing NFL futures include left guard Chase Bisontis, right tackle Dametrious Crownover, right guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams and left tackle Trey Zuhn III. Backup right tackle Reuben Fatheree II, who previously lost his starting role to Crownover, also has the potential to attract attention from the NFL. Bisontis is a quick guard with exceptional range in the run game. He's at his best on the move due to his unique mobility, speed and understanding of angles when operating in space. Bisontis is an aggressive blocker who seeks pancake opportunities, but he ended up on the wrong end of some clashes in 2024 against powerful opponents like Vernon Broughton, Alfred Collins and Cam'Ron Jackson. Reed-Adams meets all of the league's size requirements and overwhelms undersized defensive tackles. His broad frame and NFL-caliber power make him an imposing interior presence capable of anchoring against power rushers or torquing defenders out of gaps. His core and grip strength jump off the tape. However, Reed-Adams' agility and lack of suddenness make it easier for twitchy interior rushers to capture his outside shoulder. His mental processing speed must improve to negate some of his athletic limitations. Reed-Adams' impact in the run game is inconsistent because of concerns with his balance, pad level and range. Advertisement Crownover is a hulking offensive lineman with a prototypical frame for an NFL tackle. When he engages his hands early in plays, Crownover uses his sheer size and power to overwhelm smaller edge rushers. Many pass rushers fail to threaten his anchor with power or escape his reach with explosiveness. Crownover's size is a double-edged sword. He plays with a high pad level and mediocre foot speed that limit his range and leverage. His hand usage leaves plenty to be desired. Crownover's lack of ideal athletic traits and poor leverage limit his ceiling. Zuhn is a beloved leader who served as a team captain in 2024. He's a quick processor and high IQ prospect with polished hand usage that makes up for some of the issues with his arm length. Zuhn frames blocks well and quickly refits his hands to maintain leverage. Unfortunately, his poor foot speed, average anchor and forward lean in his pass set suggest he should transition to playing guard in the NFL. Head Coach Mike Elko Is 'Really Excited About We're Where Going' With His Texas A&M Aggies
Head Coach Mike Elko Is 'Really Excited About We're Where Going' With His Texas A&M Aggies originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas A&M Aggies have belief and that's all rooted in head coach Mike Elko. Advertisement At the Fort Worth A&M Club Coach's Night, Elko spoke to the doubts and wavering faith that fans, media, and the general public have about Texas A&M football. But what matters is what's fostered in the locker room. With a crew of veterans and returners, Elko has no worry that everyone on his roster believes in the Aggie program and feels like an Aggie at heart. Texas A&M Aggies head coach Mike Elko celebrating a win with his Safranek/Imagn Images "I'm really excited about where we're going," Elko said. "And I think this year, we have a chance to really take this thing forward . . . from start to finish." Texas A&M football is bringing back 16 returning starters and have 23 players entering their final year of eligibility, which is becoming less and less common with the NFL draft and age of NIL. Advertisement Of these starters, the offensive line is coming in hot. "The roster starts with the offensive line . . . we're able to bring back our top seven players," Elko said. ". . . getting Trey Zuhn [III] before the NFL draft, getting Ar'maj Reed-Adams before going into the NFL draft, bringing back both of [those] captains . . . those were huge 'gets' for us." Texas A&M Aggies offensive lineman Trey Zuhn III. © Maria Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports This stacked line also includes Chase Bisontis and Dametreous Crownover, both whom have potential to enter the NFL draft after the season as well. Crownover's 76.0 run blocking grade and Zuhn's 80.5 pass protection grade earned them earned them the third and fourth spots, respectively, on PFF's highest-rated returning tackles in the SEC. Advertisement When the Aggies start with their offensive line, everything else can fall into place. Marcel Reed has something to prove this season, and the improvements in the wide receiver and tight end positions will assist in that. Aside from those added from the transfer portal, Theo Melin Ohrstrom had huge growth in the offseason, according to Elko. In the 2024 season, Ohrstrom had 10 receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns. The backfield, though, didn't need the portal to amplify it, it only needed time and recovery. Texas A&M Aggies running back Rueben Lew With Rueben Owens and Le'Veon Moss back from injury, Elko expressed his excitement for the two to hit the ground running in the fall. Advertisement "[Moss] looks awesome . . . I'll clap for that one," Elko said. A player that went under the radar in terms of injury and recovery last season was EJ Smith. Elko expects Smith to stand out in the 2025-26 season, something that may be surprising for those that weren't aware of the injuries he had coming into the season. "When you can bring back four experienced ball carriers, three of whom are going into the last year of college football, they believe in A&M." After a 8-5 overall and 5-3 SEC record in 2024, the Aggies their sights set on advancing further both in the upcoming season and as a program overall. Elko and his team know that they have all the tools on the field and in the locker room to accomplish just that.
