Detroit fire investigators seek tips in Highland Street fires
The Detroit Fire Investigation Division is seeking the public's help in solving a series of fires on the city's west side. A $5,000 reward has been posted for tips in the case. The Detroit Fire Investigation Division, a joint task force between the Detroit police and fire departments, is looking into three structure fires that were set in the 1500 block of Highland Street on July 23. All three buildings were vacant. A man was seen in security video entering the area where the fires took place, and leaving shortly before the fires started. Investigators ask that anyone who has information that can help in the case contact the Detroit Police Department's Arson Unit at 313-596-2940. Suspect sought after railroad track arsons
Windsor police officers are asking for help identifying a suspect after fires were 'deliberately set' along a railroad track in Windsor, Ont. (Source: WPS) Windsor police officers are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect after fires were 'deliberately set' along a railroad track. Officers responded to a report of a fire in progress in the area of South Pacific Avenue and Parent Avenue at 6 a.m. on Aug. 16. When they arrived, officers found that two separate blazes had been set along the railway. Windsor Fire and Rescue Services attended and quickly extinguished the flames. No physical injuries were reported as a result of this incident. The Windsor Police Arson Unit investigated and obtained surveillance footage of the suspect. 'While the image is blurry, it provides details that may help identify the individual,' say police in a news release. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black t-shirt, red shorts, a red hat, and a white towel over his head. Ottawa police seek witnesses to alleged arson on Rideau Street

The fire happened on Rideau between King Edward Avenue and Friel Street Saturday morning. Ottawa police were called to the scene at around 11:50 a.m., after the fire had already been extinguished by firefighters. No one was reported hurt. Police say a 60-year-old man has since been arrested and has been charged with arson causing property damage. Fire at Rideau Street building deemed suspicious
Ottawa Police sign outside headquarters on Elgin St. in Ottawa. (CTV News Ottawa) A fire at a business on Rideau Street in Ottawa's Lowertown neighbourhood is being treated as suspicious. Firefighters responded to a fire in a commercial space of a residential building in the 400 block of Rideau Street, in the area of Chapel Street, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) says the fire caused 'significant property damage.' No one was hurt. 'Following a preliminary investigation, the fire was deemed suspicious in nature,' police said in a media release. 'The OPS Arson and Explosion Unit is continuing to investigate.' An arsonist who set a popular restaurant alight two nights in a row is on the run from police. NSW Police on Thursday released footage of the man using fireworks to set fire to a restaurant on Tuohy Lane, off Illawarra Road near Marrickville Station in Sydney 's inner-west, last month. One video shows a masked man lighting a fire in the courtyard of the restaurant on the night of May 29. Another man waited nearby in a Kia sedan and the pair drove from the scene. Arson Unit detectives found the man attacked the same restaurant, this time with fireworks, the following night. 'Just before 1am on Friday 30 May 2025, emergency services were called to Tuohy Lane in Marrickville following reports of a fire in the courtyard of a restaurant,' NSW Police said. 'Initial inquiries revealed accelerant and an explosive device – most likely a firework – was used to light the fire at the restaurant.' The man is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 185cm tall, and of medium build. He has black, curly, shoulder length hair, and wears glasses.
