Dates set for 30th Art-A-Whirl, Northeast Minneapolis' sprawling arts festival
Art-A-Whirl, Northeast Minneapolis' massive open studio art festival, will celebrate its 30th year from May 16-18, organizers announced this week.
In 2025, the festival plans to host more than 1,400 local artists in spaces throughout the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. The event purports to be one of the largest annual arts festivals of its kind in the country, drawing more than 120,000 people.
The annual event not only features artists opening their studios to visitors, but also includes music, food, events at breweries, and other happenings throughout the neighborhood.
'Our anniversary brings us the opportunity to not only celebrate, but also to reflect upon all that NEMAA member artists have contributed to our community throughout the past 30 years," says Anna Becker, Executive Director of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA).
To celebrate the milestone, NEMAA is selecting 30 featured artists to highlight during this year's event. Featured artists will be unveiled in April.
Additionally, the fest will launch an app-based Art-A-Whirl Passport Challenge, which will simultaneously help visitors navigate the sprawling festival and let them earn points toward prizes.
