Japanese Ambassador wraps up Gujarat visit
Ahmedabad: Japanese Ambassador to India, Ono Keiichi, concluded his two-day visit to Gujarat on Friday. On Thursday, he participated in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Indo-Japan Friendship Association (IJFA) in Ahmedabad, and on Friday, he met Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel, visited Sabarmati Ashram, and reviewed key Indo-Japanese projects including the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train.
Speaking to TOI during his visit to the ashram, Ambassador Keiichi said that India and Japan share a special bond, and the 50th anniversary of IJFA marks a significant milestone. He even opened his speech in Gujarati at Thursday evening's celebration at the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA), where he also tasted local delicacies, said Mukesh Patel, honorary Consul of Japan. A book titled 'Artopedia', showcasing Japanese art forms, was launched at the event.
"A delegation of 60 representatives from Japanese semiconductor companies is part of this visit. Our collaboration will help strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem in Gujarat," said Keiichi. He noted that Gujarat is the only Indian state partnered with two Japanese prefectures—Shizuoka and Hyogo.

Delegation members added that a cultural group from Gujarat will participate in the Hamamatsu Festival in Japan this Sep, where garba will be showcased to Japanese audiences.
