Arunachal min calls for monthly reviews to strengthen rural livelihood schemes

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh rural development and panchayati raj minister Ojing Tasing on Thursday called for monthly review meetings of key livelihood schemes, under the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), to enhance the implementation and impact of rural development programmes. Chairing a detailed review session at the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU), Tasing said regular engagement and internal evaluations were essential to drive performance, ensure accountability and identify gaps in implementation. The review focused on the progress of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). "ArSRLM is the pride and joy of the state," Tasing said, adding that the mission earned praise at the national level. He encouraged officials to continue innovating and not rest on past achievements. Emphasising the need for bold thinking, the minister said the team must now aim for transformative goals that can elevate the reach and impact of the mission, assuring that concerns raised by officials — ranging from logistical bottlenecks to resource constraints — will be addressed with urgency and seriousness. Among the issues highlighted was the large number of non-functional Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs), which Tasing promised to revive in collaboration with ArSRLM teams. He also underlined the importance of last-mile inclusion, stressing that every household, regardless of remoteness, must be brought under the fold of rural development schemes. Tasing also proposed exploring opportunities under 'Mission Karmayogi' to equip mission staff with better administrative and leadership training.
