Bank of America makes its boldest AMD call yet

Bank of America makes its boldest AMD call yet originally appeared on TheStreet. Sometimes, Mr. Market whispers, but other times, it straight-up roars. This week, AI stock Advanced Micro Devices () found itself in the middle of the loudest buzz. That's the kind that comes with a billion-dollar tailwind: a major shift in global trade policy. 💵💰💰💵 Its data-center business has already been booming, but now it's onto bigger runways, courtesy of reopened doors in China. Moreover, as the outlook shifts, a major Wall Street voice put its name on a call that's its boldest yet on AMD stock. AMD goes from underdog to AI infrastructure powerhouse AMD kicked things off this year as an underdog in AI chips. However, its latest results show it's far from playing catch-up anymore. In the first quarter, AMD's data-center sales surged 57% from last year, hitting $3.7 billion. That's nearly 50% of the company's total revenues, and a clear sign that its AI chips are getting real traction. AMD's EPYC CPUs and Instinct GPUs, especially the MI300 series, are owning the chips are effectively shaping major data centers and getting strong reviews in the process. Some buyers even say AMD's chips beat Nvidia's when it comes to price and performance. And AMD's next move is arguably even bigger. In June, it showed off the MI350 Series and a new rack system called Helios. It's essentially a comprehensive full AI setup that includes CPUs, GPUs, networking, and cooling, all efficiently designed to work together out of the box. AMD claims the MI350 delivers 40% more AI performance for every dollar spent in comparison to the previous version. Major tech players are lining up. Meta is already making use of MI300 chips for its AI models and plans to test the MI350 next. Meanwhile, startup TensorWave recently built the largest AMD GPU system in North America, 8,192 chips pushing 21 exaFLOPS of power. More AI Stock News: TikTok's next move has Google and Meta sweating bullets Elon Musk moves xAI, Grok onto Palantir turf Rigetti shakes up quantum computing with bold advance What's also helping AMD compared to, say, Nvidia, is that it's betting on an open-source system called ROCm. That's winning over cloud providers and companies looking for greater flexibility. AMD stock gets green light to chase China's AI boom Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya is going big on AMD. In a bold July 16 note, Arya hiked his price target on AMD stock from $130 to $175, a superb 35% jump. Arya's bullishness has everything to do with the massive policy reversal from Washington that's likely to reshape the AI chip race. The U.S. government is now allowing AMD and Nvidia (NVDA) to resume shipments of advanced AI accelerators to Chinese data center customers. For AMD, that's a massive shift in the right effectively reopens enterprise sales channels that were frozen by export controls. Also, this could unlock $500 million to $1 billion in revenues for AMD in just the next two quarters. But it's not just a short-term revenue bump. The MI300 series and AMD's next-gen MI400 chip are now back in business in arguably the most lucrative AI market. China's top cloud providers reportedly spend roughly 20% of global AI training dollars. That's not a pool AMD wants to sit out of. On top of that, the U.S. chipmaker gets to sharpen its competitive edge against both Nvidia and Chinese rivals like Huawei, on the back of favorable policy tailwinds. Still, AMD must navigate supply chain hiccups, geopolitical uncertainty, and a testing competitive landscape. However, if all goes well, the company is set for a multi-quarter AI growth run that could make its current validation a lot cheaper. The $45-per-share hike in his target is easily the loudest Wall Street endorsement of AMD this year, underscoring a robust belief in the chipmaker's long-term growth of America makes its boldest AMD call yet first appeared on TheStreet on Jul 18, 2025 This story was originally reported by TheStreet on Jul 18, 2025, where it first appeared. Cancer Risk, Mercury Poisoning, Organ Damage: This Toxic Fish Is Banned Yet Sold Openly

Eating fish is highly beneficial for health. It serves as an excellent source of protein, vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids. Regular consumption of fish reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, and various types of cancer. However, while the advantages of eating fish are plentiful, there are also certain fish that can be harmful to the body. One such fish, which is banned in India, unknowingly increases the risk of cancer. Fish and rice are the favourite foods of Bengalis. Fish can be categorised into different types based on their source, fat content, and fibre. For instance, freshwater fish include Rui, Katla, Koi, and Puti, while saltwater fish include Rupchanda, Laitta, Bhetki, and Hilsa. Low-fat fish examples are Magur, Taki, and Shing, whereas high-fat fish include Pangash, Chital, Bhetki, and Hilsa. The scientific name of Thai Magur is Clarias garipinus, also referred to as hybrid Magur or giant Magur. According to the Fisheries Department, the cultivation of this hybrid Magur is banned in the state because it consumes all other fish in the pond where it resides. Yet, despite the ban, this fish is being cultivated in numerous ponds across the state. Thai Magur can grow to lengths of 3 to 5 feet. It can survive for extended periods with its artificial respiration system and can even move on land. Dr. Priyanka Arya, Assistant Director of the Aligarh Fisheries Department, emphasises that Thai Magur is extremely harmful and banned in India due to its serious health risks. The cultivation, sale, and consumption of this fish are prohibited. In 2000, the central government banned the cultivation of Thai Magur in India through legal means, following the National Green Tribunal's orders to prevent significant environmental pollution. Additionally, Thai Magur grows so large that it consumes 70% of other fish in the pond. Experts have warned that consuming Thai Magur can increase the risk of cancer. This exotic fish species is not only detrimental to human health but also disrupts environmental balance. Dr. Arya stated that the cultivation, sale, and consumption of this fish in India are strictly prohibited by law, and legal action is taken against those who violate this rule. The Fisheries Department is actively informing the public about the harmful effects of Thai Magur, particularly its cancer-causing properties. Studies indicate that Thai Magur is responsible for approximately 70 percent of the decline in indigenous fish species in India, significantly impacting the aquatic environment. Furthermore, fishermen often feed this fish rotten meat and spinach, exacerbating water pollution. Thai Magur grows by consuming industrial and agricultural waste mixed in the water, resulting in a body full of pollutants, including high mercury levels, which are severely harmful to humans. In many countries, there is a tradition of eating raw fish. However, raw fish should not be consumed in our country's climate as it can cause stomach pain. In some instances, raw fish may contain harmful germs, posing health risks and potentially leading to death. Some believe that eating raw fish gallbladders can reduce diabetes. However, the consequences can be severe. In 2023, a woman from Jharkhand consumed raw Rui fish gallbladder for three consecutive days to combat diabetes, ultimately leading to fatal kidney disease. 13/14 Many think eating various parts of raw fish can cure diseases like diabetes, asthma, and arthritis, and improve eyesight. This notion is entirely incorrect. Consuming raw fish parts can be fatal. Fish contains protein, and regular consumption in moderation poses no harm. However, excessive consumption of Hilsa and Pangas can cause stomach upset.

Bigg Boss Malayalam fame Arya files cyber complaint against fake profiles targeting her boutique

Malayalam actress and TV anchor has filed a police complaint after falling victim to an elaborate online fraud involving fake Instagram accounts impersonating her boutique. The scam, which came to light in May, has reportedly duped numerous customers by advertising high-end sarees at heavily discounted prices. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to , fraudsters created multiple fake Instagram pages mimicking her boutique's official account by using the same name, logo, and even edited versions of her promotional videos. The scammers showcased sarees worth ₹10,000–₹15,000 and falsely advertised them for as low as ₹1,000 to ₹2,000. Tempted by the unbelievable offers, several unsuspecting customers placed orders through a contact number provided in these fake posts. Once contact was made, customers were sent a QR code to complete their payments. However, after the transaction was done, the phone number was immediately blocked. Victims only realized they were scammed when the promised deliveries never arrived. 'I found out about the scam when a customer contacted me saying she lost money after trying to order a saree through what she thought was our official page. Since then, I've been getting calls every day from people who have fallen for the scam,' Arya said. So far, around 15 fake pages have been identified and taken down, but the fraudsters have already created around 10 more, continuing to deceive buyers. Arya also revealed that the edited videos made it appear as though she was personally promoting these low prices, which misled many more followers into trusting the fake accounts. The actress has lodged complaints with the police and the cybercrime cell. Authorities have traced the scam to a gang based in Bihar, and while investigations are ongoing, the police have admitted that tracking and taking action against such interstate cybercriminal networks is challenging. It must be noted that the upward revision came after AMD disclosed plans to resume shipments of its MI308 AI chips to China after receiving U.S. government approval. AMD stock was up 6% as investors were optimistic about this development. Analyst Sees Data Center Growth Arya estimates AMD can ship $400–$600 million in data center GPUs per quarter in the second half of 2025 and all of 2026. That adds about $1 billion to AMD's 2025 data center GPU forecast, and $2 billion to 2026 expectations, even with flat year-over-year growth due to local competition. Further, the analyst is optimistic about AMD's pricing power. The company's MI355X chips are selling for $20,000–$25,000, well above the $17,000 market assumption. Beyond data center GPUs, the analyst highlighted several other potential growth drivers for AMD, such as share gains in server CPUs against Intel (INTC), and expects growth from embedded systems and future MI400 chips, especially in government-backed projects. The new $175 price target is based on a 31x multiple of AMD's estimated 2026 earnings, up from 23x previously. Also, Arya noted this remains within AMD's historical valuation range of 13x to 39x, and close to its five-year median of 32x. Is AMD a Good Stock to Buy? On TipRanks, AMD stock has a Moderate Buy consensus rating based on 25 Buys and 10 Holds assigned in the last three months. The average AMD price target of $135.97 suggests an upside potential of 12.193% from its current price. In the past three months, shares of the company have gained about 65.6%.
