Mid West and Gascoyne coasts to feature in season two of Shipwreck Hunters Australia

Shipwrecks off the Mid West and Gascoyne coasts will feature in season two of Shipwreck Hunters Australia, which premieres on Disney+ later this month. The season will feature six missions along the rugged WA coastline, home to more than 1600 shipwrecks, filmed in locations across the Mid West, Gascoyne, Wheatbelt, Southwest and Goldfields-Esperance regions. Raising some of WA's long-lost shipwreck secrets, season two welcomes back the fearless shipwreck hunters, with captain Ash Sutton again at the helm with the highly skilled crew of ocean adventurers uncovering maritime stories at the State's most breathtaking locations. The series is funded through the WA Regional Screen Fund, supported by $4 million a year through Royalties for Regions from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. The fund aims to encourage regional film industry activity, build capacity and contribute to the livability and vibrancy of regional WA, according to Creative Industries Minister Simone McGurk. 'We are sending a strong message to the international film industry, that WA is rapidly growing as a popular destination for film production and that we have remarkable and appealing stories to tell,' she said. Shipwreck Hunters Australia is estimated to have brought more than $4.4m to WA, including more than $1.6m in regional towns. 'Shipwreck Hunters Australia is a rousing and exciting documentary series set against the backdrop of Western Australia's beautiful coast, and I am intrigued to see what these adventurers uncover,' Screenwest CEO Rikki Lea Bestall said. Season two of Shipwreck Hunters Australia drops on August 27. The trailer can be viewed at .

Croft Circuit set to welcome biggest meeting of the season

Croft Circuit welcomes the biggest meeting of the season when rounds 16, 17, and 18 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship take place at the North Yorkshire circuit this weekend (August 2 to 3 August). Two days of top-class, wheel-to-wheel action begin on Saturday when the UK's leading car series heads north following the previous round at Oulton Park last month and a brief summer break. NAPA Racing UK's Ash Sutton leads the series in his Ford Focus ST, arriving at Croft following his fourth victory of the season at Oulton Park. The four-time BTCC champion holds a slender ten-point advantage over Tom Ingram in his Team VERTU Hyundai 130N, who also won last time out to record a second win of 2025. Yorkshireman Dan Cammish heads to his home round in third position, where the NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus ST driver from Leeds can count on the local support as he goes in search of adding to his single victory so far this season, which came at Snetterton. Teammate Daniel Rowbottom is in fourth place ahead of defending champion Jake Hill in the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport BMW 330i M Sport, both of whom are among the amazing ten different winners so far this season heading into Croft. Expect plenty of local backing for two other Yorkshiremen in the field: Daniel Lloyd from Huddersfield in the Restart Racing Hyundai 130N, and Driffield's Senna Proctor in his Team VERTU Hyundai 130N. As well as BTCC action over three races on Sunday, there is action from three supporting classes throughout the weekend with plenty of local interest. In the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain, Scorton driver Max Coates, who lives just five miles from the track, leads the ProAm class in his Duckhams Yuasa Racing by Graves Motorsport 911, whilst in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE, Durham's Max Edmundson and Selby driver Harry Campey will be hoping for success in the JCW class, whilst Will Crooks from Whitby goes in the JCW Sport class. The final round of the Legends Cars Elite Cup takes place at Croft with six races for the popular and spectacular five-eighths scale racers. Local hopes are carried by Gosforth's Mark Beaty in his 1934 Ford Coupe in a field containing American ace Trevor Krouse. On Saturday, the action starts at 9.30am with free practice for the BTCC followed by a packed day of qualifying and the first of four races starting at 11.30. Fans can get up close to the racing stars on Sunday morning when a pitlane walkabout takes place at 10.30am with a chance to meet the drivers, before the action commences at 12.10 with the first of the BTCC races followed by the remaining eight races.
