Ashim Ghosh sworn in as Haryana's 19th Governor; takes oath in English
Chandigarh, July 21 (UNI) Professor Ashim Ghosh took oath today as the 19th Governor of Haryana in a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh.
The oath was administered by Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Sheel Nagu. Ghosh delivered his oath in English.
Present at the ceremony were Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini and Punjab Governor-cum-Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. Ghosh replaces Bandaru Dattatreya, with his appointment announced by President Droupadi Murmu on July 14.
A former BJP state president in West Bengal, Ghosh is known for strengthening the party's base in the region. He played a key role in building the BJP and RSS network in Bengal and was part of the party's advisory panel. A close associate of late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Ghosh was introduced to politics by former Union Minister Tapan Sikdar.
Reacting to his appointment, Ghosh said, 'It's an honour for me. I will serve the people of Haryana with sincerity and dedication.' Ghosh is seen within the BJP as a scholarly figure with deep ideological roots.
