PMC to develop ‘pink zone' for women vendors at Kadamkuan

1 2 Patna: A 'pink zone' is set to be developed at the Kadamkuan vending zone in the state capital, where women will run stalls of different products. The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is taking this initiative to empower women and make them self-reliant. The 'pink zone', to be developed on the first floor of the vending zone, will provide women with a platform to showcase their entrepreneurial skills. The ground floor is currently occupied by vegetable vendors. A pink toilet will also be constructed to cater to the sanitation needs of women, said a PMC official. Ashish Sinha, councillor of ward no. 38 in the PMC area, said: "We received a very positive response from the Kadamkuan vending zone. Women often express a preference to buy vegetables only from this vending zone. In light of this, a pink market area will be developed here. There will be products for women's use in the pink zone. On Independence Day foundation stone for the pink toilet will be laid." On Feb 21, the two storeyed vending zone built at a cost Rs 9.03 crore was inaugurated by chief minister Nitish Kumar at Kadamkuan. For the first time, stalls were allocated to 150 street vendors in the city. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like AI now helps people speak languages fast Talkpal AI These vendors are being charged a monthly rent of Rs 1,000 by the PMC.
