Gehlot meets gig workers at his home

Jaipur: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot met gig workers at his residence Saturday. He discussed with them the pioneering Rajasthan Platform Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare) Act, 2023, which was brought under his administration. He said that after the BJP came to power in the state, the law was not implemented, leading to dissatisfaction among gig workers. "Today I met with gig workers at my residence to discuss their issues. During our Congress govt, the first Gig Workers Welfare Act in the country was established in Rajasthan, which included a law for the social security of gig workers. It covered insurance, set working hours, and prevented unjust dismissals," said Gehlot on X. "The law also provided for a Rs 200-crore Gig Workers Welfare Fund and Board. It aimed to curb the arbitrary practices of internet-based companies," he added. Gehlot said society should empathise with gig workers who work 14-18 hours a day. "They mentioned that in many residential societies, gig workers are prohibited from using the elevator, which is unfair. These workers, who come to serve the residents, face difficulties climbing stairs with their belongings. After the change in state govt, this law was not implemented," he said.

"They don't realise glory of Tricolour": Rajasthan ex CM Ashok Gehlot attacks BJP over Tiranga Yatra

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], May 29 (ANI): Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party over organising the Tiranga Yatra and said that their leaders don't even realise the glory of the Tricolour. Speaking to ANI, Gehlot said, 'Their leaders wipe their faces on the Tricolour... They don't realise the glory of the Tricolour, and they have never accepted the Tricolour. They have not hoisted the Tricolour at their Nagpur headquarters for the last 80 years...' Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched 'Tiranga Yatra' on May 13. The yatra aims to honour the valour of Indian soldiers and inform citizens about Operation Sindoor's recent success. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. As part of the operation, Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. Earlier on May 24, Ashok Gehlot had termed the Enforcement Directorate's probe against Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case as 'deliberate' and one which has no meaning. Speaking to the media, Gehlot said, 'An ED case has been filed against Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi deliberately, which has no meaning. False cases have been made; not even a rupee was transacted.' 'The BJP were not comfortable with Rahul Gandhi asking questions on Operation Sindoor, but he asked the same question which is in the minds of the public. It is the opposition's responsibility to raise the public's questions; this is democracy,' he said. Ashok Gehlot claimed that the BJP is worried that if the newspaper restarts, it will voice opinions aligned with the Congress and its values. '90 years ago, we started the National Herald newspaper. The Congress sought to revive it, but the BJP is worried because once the newspaper restarts, it will voice opinions aligned with the Congress and its values. They cannot accept the concept of secularism. To prevent the government from republishing the paper, they are resorting to various tactics, including filing numerous false cases,' the former Rajasthan CM said. (ANI)

'Mafia rule in Rajasthan': Opposition slams BJP govt over man's torture in Beawar

JAIPUR: Opposition Congress members in Rajasthan have launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led state govt following an incident in Beawar where a person was allegedly tortured by his employer. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, leader of opposition Tikaram Jully and Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra have demanded an immediate investigation into what they describe as a complete breakdown of law and order under CM Bhajan Lal Sharma's administration. The incident, which occurred in the Raipur police station area of Beawar last month, involved the victim being hung upside down and tied to a JCB machine. Images of the torture that went viral on social media on Saturday have sparked widespread outrage across the state. "This is not just an isolated incident of brutality but a reflection of mafia rule in Rajasthan," said Gehlot, alleging collusion between police, administration and criminal elements. Congress members described the accused employer (a factory owner) and his accomplices as 'mafia'. Dotasra took to social media platform X to condemn the incident, stating that "mafias' tyranny is at its peak" under what he termed a "weak BJP govt." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo He called for a thorough investigation into both the incident and the alleged political protection provided to criminals. Jully raised several pointed questions about the govt's commitment to maintaining law and order, asking, "Who in power is providing protection to the mafias?" He argued that the incident has not only violated human rights but has also brought shame to the entire state.

"Deliberate, not even a rupee was transacted": Ashok Gehlot on ED's action against Congress leaders in National Herald case

Jodhpur (Rajasthan) [India], May 24 (ANI): Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Saturday termed the Enforcement Directorate's probe against Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case as 'deliberate' and one which has no meaning. Speaking to the media, Gehlot said, 'An ED case has been filed against Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi deliberately, which has no meaning. False cases have been made; not even a rupee was transacted.' 'The BJP was not comfortable with Rahul Gandhi asking questions on Operation Sindoor, but he asked the same question, which is in the minds of the public. They cannot accept the concept of secularism. To prevent the government from republishing the paper, they are resorting to various tactics, including filing numerous false cases,' the former Rajasthan CM said. Ashok Gehlot questioned the very basis of the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) probe into the National Herald case, stating, 'When the transaction of one rupee has not been made, then where did this ED case come from? The new company has been created so that the newspaper can be started.' Earlier on Wednesday, the ED presented its opening arguments before Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court regarding the cognisance of its complaint against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others in connection with a money laundering case linked to the National Herald. In the opening submissions, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S V Raju submitted that an offence of money laundering is made out in this case. He also submitted that there were proceeds of crime. It was also submitted that there was continuing criminal activity for the generation of proceeds of crime, which constitutes the offence of money laundering. After hearing the opening submitted by ASG S V Raju and Special Counsel for ED Zoheb Hosain, the Special Judge listed the matter for remaining arguments from July 2 to July 8. Special judge Vishal Gogne listed the matter for day-to-day hearing on the point of cognisance of ED's Prosecution complaint against Gandhi and other accused persons. The court listed the matter in July after hearing the submissions of defence counsel, who urged a hearing in July and gave voluminous documents totalling 5,000 pages. (ANI)
