To boost small scale units, ‘Sookshm Udyam Sakhis' appointed in Prayagraj

Prayagraj: To promote women entrepreneurship and make rural women self-reliant, 368 'Sookshm Udyam Sakhis' are being appointed in Prayagraj district under the state rural livelihood mission. These 'Sakhis will connect with women associated with self-help groups in rural areas to generate and create employment. Deputy commissioner of Livelihood Mission, Prayagraj, Ashok Kumar Gupta said, "As many as 368 Sookshm Udhyam Sakhis have been selected in the district and they will be imparted training." These women 'Sakhis' will be appointed in clusters. Currently, there are 92 clusters of groups in the district comprising all the Self Help Groups (SHGs). Four 'Sookshm Udhyam Sakhis' will be deployed in each cluster. It may be noted that under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), more than 25,000 self-help groups have been formed in 1,540 villages of the Prayagraj district. These SHGs also get financial help for self-employment. Under the mission itself, these Sakhis will connect to 18,400 rural-based women of the district for employment. "Each Sakhi will play an important role in connecting and guiding about 50 other women for self-employment," said the official. Gupta, meanwhile, said, "Technical support will also be provided to the Sakhis. They will also get an honorarium of Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,000. New Delhi: Optiemus Infracom in partnership with US-based Corning Inc on Wednesday announced that it will manufacture tempered glass screen protectors for smartphones in India. Noida-based firm claimed that it is the first company in India to locally produce advanced-grade screen protectors featuring Corning glass technology.'We are committed to establishing India as a global hub for high-value mobile accessories," said Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chairman, Optiemus Infracom company will produce premium tempered glass screen protectors under the brand 'RhinoTech'. It targets around Rs 2,000 crore revenue from the tempered glass business by March 2027. Majority of the tempered glass used for protecting smartphone screens in India is imported from informed that RhinoTech screen protectors will be manufactured at Optiemus' facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. New Delhi [India], August 13 (ANI): Optiemus Infracom Limited is eyeing to earn between Rs. 1,800 crore and Rs. 2,000 crore in revenue by March 2027 from its newly launched brand RhinoTech, which offers India's first premium tempered glass screen protectors made with glass engineered by Corning. As per a media release, the product marks the first time in India that advanced screen protection using Corning glass technology will be produced locally. The initial rollout will focus on premium smartphones, with plans to expand to the economy segment in the coming months. RhinoTech products are expected to be available in Indian stores by the end of September company announced RhinoTech in New Delhi on Wednesday, calling it a made-in-India product designed for both domestic and global markets. NEW DELHI: Homegrown Optiemus Infracom has partnered with the US-based Corning to manufacture the ' RhinoTech ' branded tempered glass screen protectors in India. Optiemus, in a statement Wednesday, said that it is expecting a revenue of ₹1,800-2,000 crore by the end of fiscal year 2027, following the launch of the tempered glass protectors. The RhinoTech tempered glass screen protectors, engineered by Corning, will be made in India at Optiemus' facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Citing third-party estimates, Optiemus said India's screen protector market size was valued $2.5 billion in 2024, and will double to $5 billion by 2030. According to the company, the Indian domestic market for tempered glass screen protectors is estimated to be 400 million pieces with a retail value of ₹20,000 crore in 2025, highlighting its vast potential. Currently, over 90% demand is met through low-cost imports, leading to inconsistent quality and an unorganized market. Ahead of Optiemus' announcement, the Central government introduced a standard for 'Chemically Tempered Glass Screen Protectors' via the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on July 28, 2025. Optiemus said in a statement that the RhinoTech tempered glass screen protectors are Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)-certified and will be initially available for the premium smartphone category in the coming months, with eventual expansion to other segments. The protectors will also be available for purchase from RhinoTech's website from September 2025-end via authorised dealers as well as retail chains in select cities. 'We believe that these screen protectors using glass engineered by Optiemus will be a game-changer in transforming a fragmented market into an organised, quality-driven ecosystem that benefits consumers and the industry,' said Ashok Kumar Gupta, chairman, Optiemus Infracom, in a joint statement. 'We believe that this development will support the country's growing need for providing screen protectors for the mobile consumer electronics industry,' said Sudhir Pillai, managing director, Corning India. Nirmod Kumar, director, Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), said at the event that India's mobile phone production is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30-35% over the next five to six years, which will boost the demand for tempered glass protectors. "We are entering the second phase of (electronics) government has already notified a scheme for electronics components manufacturing, and there is a separate programme for semiconductor manufacturing," he said. Pankaj Mohindroo, chairman, India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), said that the mobile accessories segment has often been overlooked, but has a huge potential to generate employment and can become globally competitive. "Accessories can have a very big global market. All of us must seriously consider building this segment indigenously," he added.

Electronics manufacturer Optiemus Infracom expects revenue of Rs 1,800-2,000 crore in the financial year 2027 from its tempered glass screen protectors business, a top company official said on Wednesday. The company launched RhinoTech -- Made-in-India Tempered Glass Screen Protectors, which uses glass engineered by Corning. Optiemus Infracom Chairman Ashok Kumar Gupta said that RhinoTech brings global technology and innovation with enhanced hygienic benefits like anti-microbial glass. "It is the first time in India that such advanced screen protection, developed with glass from Corning Incorporated, will be produced locally and made available for both domestic and international markets. We expect additional revenue of Rs 1,800-2,000 crore in financial year 2027 from RhinoTech business," Gupta said. RhinoTech screen protectors will be manufactured at Optiemus' facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
