Three, including a minor, held in Belagavi gangrape case
Belagavi: City police on Friday arrested three more individuals, two farmhouse owners and a minor, in connection with the gangrape of a minor girl in Tilakwadi. One of the arrested minors is reportedly the son of a circle police inspector (CPI) posted in a neighbouring district.
The crime occurred on May 11 when three boys, including two minors, allegedly rented a farmhouse and took the victim there, where they gangraped her. The incident came to light when the girl began experiencing severe abdominal pain upon returning home. Her parents rushed her to a hospital, where the assault was discovered.
The case has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns over child safety, the role of law enforcement, and illegal hospitality operations in the area.
Police earlier arrested two of the accused, including a minor. On Friday, they apprehended farmhouse owners Rohan Patil and Ashutosh Patil, who allegedly rented out the property illegally for Rs 20,000 per month.
Investigations revealed that the property was converted into a mini resort without obtaining necessary approvals from the relevant authorities. Both owners were produced in court and remanded to Hindalaga Central Jail. The minor accused was sent to a govt remand home. After the case was unearthed, the police are cracking down on illegal resorts and farmhouses in and around Belagavi city.
