Thailand Post to focus on shipments to China

State logistics firm Thailand Post has targeted annual expansion of its parcel shipments from Thailand to China after they increased by 3% last year. The state agency wants to strengthen economic ties between the two countries through parcel delivery services for both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumers (B2C), said Thailand Post chief executive Dhanant Subhadrabandhu. In addition, the company has explored the use of multimodal transport options combining road and rail for shipments to China, while also leveraging its domestic network as a distribution hub for goods entering Thailand for onward global delivery via air and land. The 3% increase in shipments reflects Thailand Post's growing role as essential infrastructure connecting the borderless economy, he said. Among the most commonly sent items to China are documents, toys, cotton garments, supplements and amulets. "Postal routes have played a vital role in fostering communication and economic links between Thailand and China, supporting ties across sectors, from trade and business to community-level interactions," said Mr Dhanant. He said Thailand Post plans to expand its land transport network from China, offering commercial logistics solutions for B2B and B2C clients to reduce shipping costs and provide end-to-end customs clearance services at both origin and destination. To further cement ties between Thailand and China, Mr Dhanant said Thailand Post will partner with the Philatelists Association of Thailand to host the "Asian International Stamp Exhibition 2025: Letters of Friendship – From Bangkok to Beijing". The exhibition is scheduled from Aug 8-12 at the Grand Postal Building in Bangkok. He said operating profit for Thailand Post in the first half of 2025 totalled 630 million baht, up from 180 million year-on-year, attributed to growing logistics transactions and cost-effective management.
