Pop star Miles Kane to host sold-out gig in Glasgow
Miles Kane will be taking to the stage at Assai Records next month ahead of the release of his latest album. The acclaimed English rocker, best known for his work with The Last Shadow Puppets alongside Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner, will perform at Assai Records on Thursday, September 11, at 5.30pm. Kane's upcoming album, Sunlight in the Shadows, is due to be released on October 17 and marks a fresh chapter in his solo career. The Glasgow appearance will not only give fans an exclusive first listen to new material, but also the chance to meet Kane in person during a signing session after the performance.

Here's why huge queues have formed outside Glasgow record shop today
Dozens of people were spotted waiting outside Assai Records on Sauchiehall Street ahead of The Royston Club's instore performance and signing. The shows follow the release of the band's brand-new album, Songs for the Spine, which is set to come out on August 8. It comes after the band performed at TRNSMT 2025 last month. Yungblud cancels Dundee album launch and show
The English musician, real name Dominic Harrison, was due to perform songs from his new album Idols at LiveHouse on Wednesday. The album launch was organised by Assai Records, who have run similar shows in the city and at their stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow for several years. The album's launch comes after it reached number one in the UK charts last week. He wrote: 'Dundee, I have some bad news. 'This morning I was diagnosed with tonsillitis. I'm trying to get them out, but I need to find some time as obviously I'm on the road all the time. 'The doctor has asked me to stay in bed for two days to make sure I don't do any damage to my voice. 'I'm so sorry. I never wanna let any of you down. These intimate shows mean so much to me. 'Being close to you all means so much to me. 'I'm gonna have to reschedule the show for a later date but I'll be there in Liverpool on Friday. 'Information will be provided in the coming days. I love you all.' Last weekend, Yungblud joined a star-studded lineup of musicians who performed at Black Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne farewell tour. Osbourne bowed out with a final concert, an all-day stadium show called Back to the Beginning, at Villa Park in Birmingham. The show was also livestreamed to more than five million fans worldwide, with Yungblud performing a number of songs, including a cover of the classic Black Sabbath track Changes.

Irvine Welsh to make appearance at Glasgow record store
The Trainspotting creator will be promoting his new album and book at Assai Records in Sauchiehall Street on July 25. Fans of the writer who also penned Filth, Glue and the Acid House, among many more, will get the chance to interact with the author in a Q&A session. It is described as: 'A collaborative concept album, exploring the complexities of love, relationships, and the human condition. 'The album blends classic Motown and disco influences with contemporary electronic dance production, creating a unique and powerful sound that is both nostalgic and fresh.' Released at the same time will be Welsh's new novel, also titled Men in Love, which is a sequel to Trainspotting and features the same characters made famous in the 90s by the book and then film.
