The upcoming 200-bedded hospital, which will serve as an extension of the existing 1,365-bedded AMCH, has been funded by the World Bank for Rs 206 crore, and represents one of the largest healthcare infrastructure investments in the district.
"This hospital will be a milestone in Assam's journey towards providing world-class medical facilities. This hospital will complement the existing AMCH infrastructure and create a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem for the people.
This project represents our vision of accessible, quality healthcare for all. The strategic location of the hospital will make advanced medical services easily accessible to people from across Dibrugarh district and neighboring areas," Sarma said, while addressing a public rally at the old high school playground, after laying the foundation stone.
The six-storey city hospital is being constructed under the Assam State Secondary Healthcare Initiative for Service Delivery Transformation (ASSIST). This comprehensive programme is designed to revolutionize the state's healthcare infrastructure, aiming to ensure better healthcare services reach every citizen while establishing Assam as a healthcare hub.
