What's Lee Min Ho doing after Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint? Know plot, cast and filming details for Assassins role
Hallyu superstar Lee Min Ho is said to be taking on a bold new project for the big screen. Industry insiders report that the actor has been cast in the upcoming historical thriller Assassins. While an official casting announcement has yet to be released, sources close to the production say that Lee has confirmed his participation and is preparing for the role. Assassins plot Lee Min Ho is allegedly branching into unfamiliar territory with Assassins. The movie will explore the real-life mystery behind the 'August 15 sniper incident.' The event refers to the tragic 1974 assassination of South Korea's First Lady Yuk Young Soo. She was fatally shot by Moon Se Gwang, an ethnic Korean residing in Japan. It happened during a Liberation Day speech by then-President Park Chung Hee at the National Theater in Seoul. The film is to be directed by veteran filmmaker Hur Jin Ho. It will not merely recount historical facts but dive into the unanswered questions surrounding the assassination. Moon Se Gwang confessed to the crime and reportedly fired four shots. However, witnesses and archival records suggest more gunshots were heard. This sparked decades-long speculation and conspiracy theories. Assassins aims to reconstruct the day's events through this lens of uncertainty. Key cast If confirmed, Lee Min Ho will join acclaimed actors Yoo Hae Jin and Park Hae Il. Both are already reported to be attached to the project. With such an ensemble, the film is expected to carry serious dramatic weight. Lee's casting is particularly noteworthy as Assassins would mark his first foray into a political-historical thriller. It's a major shift from his past roles in films like Gangnam Blues and Bounty Hunters, among others. Riding the momentum This report follows closely on the heels of Lee Min Ho's highly anticipated upcoming film, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. It is set to release in July 2025. As buzz builds around that fantasy-action adaptation, Assassins could cement Lee's growing presence on the silver screen. Production status Currently in pre-production, Assassins is finalizing its main cast and aims to begin filming later this year. Fans will have to wait for official casting confirmation. Moreover, excitement is already mounting around the prospect of Lee Min Ho leading a genre he has yet to explore. Whether portraying a conflicted antihero, a sharp investigator, or a historical figure caught in political intrigue, Lee Min Ho's rumored involvement in Assassins suggests a major career pivot.

‘Luigi the Musical,' about accused UnitedHealthcare CEO killer, to debut in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — From the killer barber of 'Sweeney Todd,' to Stephen Sondheim's 'Assassins,' musicals have long dealt with morbid subject matter. Now a musical comedy based on Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old man accused of gunning down the CEO of a healthcare company, is on its way to San Francisco. 'Luigi the Musical,' is billed as: 'A story of love, murder and hash browns,' is due to open in June at the Taylor Street Theatre, formerly the Exit Theatre. Mangione, who was arrested as the prime suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and has pleaded not guilty in the case, shares the same real-life prison as FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried and Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs. Although it is unlikely he's actually cellmates with either, in the show, Mangione's character navigates 'friendship, justice, and the absurdity of viral fame,' with the two by his side, per the release. The show is described as a 'wildly irreverent, razor-sharp comedy that imagines the true story of Luigi Mangione, the alleged corporate assassin turned accidental folk hero.' The film features other famous characters, including convicted crypto-fraudster Bankman-Fried, and Combs, a former rap mogul turned accused sex trafficker. 'Bold, campy, and unafraid, ' Luigi: the Musical ' is both laugh-out-loud funny and surprisingly thoughtful,' according to the play's production company. 'If you like your comedy smart and your show tunes with a criminal record, Luigi is your new favorite felony.' The show is directed by Nova Bradford and features original music and lyrics by Arielle Johnson. Johnson, Bradford, and co-writer Caleb Zeringue, are all involved in the local SF comedy scene. Andre' Margatini, another Bay Area comic, is also credited as a co-writer on the show. Mangione will be portrayed by Petaluma-based actor and comic, Jonny Stein, who admittedly bears some resemblance to the accused murderer. The 60-minute show makes its debut on Friday, June 13 and is currently scheduled for five sold-out performances.

The one role Liam Neeson refused to reprise one last time - and the sad reason why
When it comes to playing comic book villains, Liam Neeson fans have already singled out their favorite that the Irishman has embodied. Unfortunately for them, the Hollywood superstar was forced to rule out playing one of his favorite characters for one last time. Neeson first played Ra's al Ghul in 2005's Batman Begins movie . Even though the character was stripped of his comic book immortality and commanded the League of 'Shadows' instead of 'Assassins,' it was still an excellent interpretation of one of the greatest villains in comic history. Taken star Neeson returned as the character in a brief vision for 2012's The Dark Knight Rises, and always spoke fondly of his time as 'The Demon's Head.' When IGN asked him if he'd heard about Ra's turning up in Arrow, he surprised fans by said no one had contacted him about the role, but he'd return "in a heartbeat, if it came my way, yeah. Very much so." He told Buzzfeed: "We quickly went to him, just on the off-chance that he had the time to do it." The one role Liam Neeson will not be returning to in popular movie. (Image: Getty Images) Unfortunately, Neeson's schedule wouldn't allow him to commit to a ten-episode stint on a network show, so he politely refused the part. It ultimately went to Australian actor Matt Nable, who later reprised the part for an episode of the spinoff show Legends of Tomorrow. Ra's al Ghul is an immortal eco-terrorist who commanded the fearsome and mysterious League of Assassins. It is by far not the only role the Taken actor wished he could reprise. Liam has opened up about another role he wishes he should have ticked off his list. Speaking of reprising the role of Michael Collins for a sequel, Liam, 72, lamented to Collider : "I'm just too old, but I would love to go back to Michael Collins." It's hardly surprising Liam is so fond of the role - it earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Drama as the title character in Neil Jordan's 1996 biopic Michael Collins. He won critical acclaim for his part in the movie, playing the figure who became a leading light in the Irish battle for independence against Britain in the early 20th century. Assassin's Creed Shadows looks like the success Ubisoft needed as it tops Steam charts
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Assassin's Creed Shadows is the success story Ubisoft needs as it takes the number one spot on Steam's top sellers chart in multiple countries. Assassin's Creed Shadows only came out yesterday, but it's already the top-selling Steam game in the US, UK, Brazil, Singapore, and more countries. The game's official Twitter account writes: "Excited to be back… Full Steam ahead! Thank you for your support, Assassins!" It's no surprise the game is doing so well considering Ubisoft tweeted that it had over one million players not even a full 24 hours after launching. After the middling success of Star Wars Outlaws and the decision to shut down the live-service shooter XDefiant just months after it was released, Shadows needed to be a big win for Ubisoft. It was delayed several times so that the company could polish it and ensure it was to a high standard, and it seems like that was absolutely the correct decision, as reviews have been great too. In our own Assassin's Creed Shadows review, we said the game has "more confidence, texture, and purpose than we've seen since Assassin's Creed pivoted into RPG territory," and we've ranked it highly on our list of the best Assassin's Creed games, too. Ubisoft is reportedly currently working on some sort of "IP unit" that would include franchises like Assassin's Creed. No one is actually sure exactly what this is yet, but with the success of Shadows, it should be easier for the company to convince investors to back its alleged plans. These sales figures should also help appease shareholders, one of whom was reportedly planning a protest against the company's "horribly mismanaged" plans and "declining shareholder value." Ubisoft's stock did get a little bump earlier this month, but it's down year on year. Shadows was discussed by the Prime Minister of Japan due to a controversy started by an Assassin's Creed Shadows preview that showed someone desecrating shrines in-game. There has since been a day-one patch that makes some of the objects within indestructible. Once you're done with Shadows, check out all the new games of 2025 that you still have to look forward to.

Assassin's Creed Shadows review: vibrant open-world spectacle with 2 different playstyles
Ubisoft's action-adventure series Assassin's Creed is one of the longest-running and most successful video game franchises of all time. Advertisement Since 2007, the story of a guild of assassins fighting its way through the ages into the future, saving the world along the way, has now spawned 14 main games, several spin-offs for PC and consoles, and even a Hollywood blockbuster. The successful formula has always been the same: exciting stealth adventures set against a detailed historical backdrop. In the latest instalment, Assassin's Creed Shadows, fans can even play as two assassins rather than just one. Part of the series' appeal lies in its mix of science fiction, mythology and historical events. The backstory tells of a centuries-old community called the Assassins who delve into the consciousness of their ancestors using a machine called the Animus.
