'Skibidi,' 'tradwife' among new words in Cambridge Dictionary. See what they mean.
'Internet culture is changing the English language,' Cambridge Dictionary's lexical program manager said.
Popular internet slang terms like "skibidi," "delulu" and "tradwife" are now recognized as words in the Cambridge Dictionary.
The dictionary, which is published by Cambridge University Press and Assessment in England, has added more than 6,000 words over the last year, the organization said in a release on Aug. 18.
In addition to words, the dictionary has also added phrases like "red flag" and "work wife."
'It's not every day you get to see words like skibidi and delulu make their way into the Cambridge Dictionary. We only add words where we think they'll have staying power," Colin McIntosh, Cambridge Dictionary's lexical program manager, said in the release. "Internet culture is changing the English language and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture in the Dictionary.'
